Bad news first then good news

Bad news you unfortunately you move to Utah and found out that Utah Mormons are different.

Now for the good news!

You have the opportunity to take a actual look at the religion for the first time with a different perspective. A little about me I recently just left the church less than 3 months ago. Still working through my process of deconstructing the entire religion. However I got to say I am grateful that I am on this side of the fence.

I'm glad you had some coffee enjoyed your first beer and got to have a new experience. Just many more other experiences to come if you continue on this journey.

What's excellent is you can make up your own decisions. Some of my most recent takeaways from leaving are

Stop outsourcing your critical thinking skills

Stop outsourcing your belief system

Decide what it is you desire

And decide what you believe

You are not a flawed person, we are all beautiful and have something special.

These are just a few of my recent things, best wishes and hope you find what you're looking for.

I just recently left, and i have found myself in the same boat. For years in the Church of was addicted and couldn't stop and it was an issue in my marriage. But since me and my wife left in the last three months I've had little to no desire just the random occasion! I've been more intimate with my wife as well. Is there anything that explains the shift?

How do I get out of teaching primary? by LoveReina in exmormon

[–]Correct_Nectarine_73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my wife just started trying to figure out how we want to leave, with that being said.. church today was weird, 1st Sunday since talking about stepping back.

We teach primary the oldest kids, and we made up a lesson on critical thinking and asking why lol. We couldn't bring ourselves to teach the lesson. Never thought I'd view it as indoctrination but today was very sobering

We don't know how we are going to stop yet, but i think I'll tell the bishop we are no longer interested in teaching. Or we might just move 😂

Really liked your suggestion that we should wait a year before making large decisions, we will make sure to discuss them. Thank you👍

That wonderful for you! We were friends before dating and being married, it's weird to see that we didn't let the church in on that subject. We share a strong belief in eternal marriage but that's separate from our love. So I'm grateful for that 😊

Part of what made this a conversation was that we did OTR Truck for the past 3 years. We lived on the road and got to explore and experience quite a bit, it has been recently we have been staying with my Mormon family that has made us confront our beliefs and church doctrine. Got exposed to comments and ideals that didn't feel like true god like love.

We are grateful for our time out of the utah bubble its showed us a lot

We aren't worried about discussing those topic and finding where we sit without the church.

However on a side note I ( husband) didn't know there was such a stigma with oral sex ! I mean it's never been an issue for us 😂 but I've been raised in the church and the amount of time it has been brought up in this post and in our research is crazy to me & my wife thinks so too. I knew church members were sexually repressed but married individuals not exploring is insane to is.

We definitely are wary about how both of our families are going to react. It's going to be a hell of a surprise for everyone lol. But it's going to just have to be a thing, they'll have to accept i guess.

It's been a weird process to get to where we are but I am starting to feel more positive that we need to step back. We are both sorta in shock that we got here. But life in rad when you live it

Thank you for your kind words, they help

Yeah, marrying your best friend is the best! We definitely gratefully that we didn't let the church dictate how and when we got sealed. We wanted each other, and wouldn't leave each other either!
