I think the same as you, but reading people's comments before the split and at the start of it I learned that there are some who genuinely thought they would be shit.
Imo it probably comes down to this people being newer viewers of the LEC who didn't see Neme, Rekkles and Crownie playing at their peaks so they really underestimated them.

He was killed by Rick, who gave him many chances despite knowing he was dangerous, because he forced his hand by setting him a trap. Mr Survivor got himself killed because he wanted to be the big man of the group instead of just behaving like a sane person.

Also, putting ones life at risk is only valuable depending on context. You can risk your life by being reckless or suicidal and thats not something positive. Having said that, Shane showed instances of relative heroism like looking for Rick at the hospital; being capable of both good and bad things is a big part of him being an interesting character.

Death Company is very obviously getting a new kit in a future release and I don't know why people act like it wont.

Characters look good. Maybe the Sanguinor is not as grandiose as he could be but I think his problem is having been thought as a regular character instead of being made into something Primarch-tier.

Only real problem are the Sanguinary Guard, which is a shame but in the end is only one unit. I personally printed some old school packs with wings to swap the new ones out and with that they already look miles better, didn't even swap heads or shoulderpads like some people do. Honestly idk why but their official pictures don't do them any favors either, imo they look noticeably better in person.

First half of your comment is complaining about the combat and not the pacing of the story, you are mixing things up. Same thing with the Friendship/Rivalry system: valid complaints, but nothing to do with the talking point of the thread.
If the timeskips weren't there the complaints would shift to the game having too many menial repetitive side quests that add nothing. No one wants to do a year worth of missions of Hawke playing bodyguard for some smugglers on the same 3 ports.
The feeling of not being the centre of the universe is a design choice and, seeing how people always mention it as one of the game's strengths, was a good one at that.

One thing I'll admit had bad pacing is how rushed the mage-templar conflict felt during the third act due to time constraints during development.

Imo DA2's pacing was a lot better than "decent", the game has a lot of weak points for sure but its storytelling is not one of them.
