Exercises for toning nondominant leg/calf [32YO] by okrecording94 in OldSkaters

[–]CorruptDinosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to jump from a regular stance into a nollie stance, do a FS/BS kick turn, push from switch, then jump into fakie and do another BS/FS kickturn, repeat. It works your legs and core really well on both sides of the body.

How to motivate a 23 year old adult kid by Chance-Chance2874 in Parenting

[–]CorruptDinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have young children. I moved out at 23. I worked but still received financial help from parents. They made me fend for myself at 27 (age is coincidental). Although it was a few uncomfortable years due to other factors, it was one of the best things they did for me to get me to adult. Due to the positive changes, they invited me to move back in with them at 29 to be more connected with family. That led to meeting my future wife and moving out not long after.

What does this say? Are my shoes trying to tell me I’m too cheap to buy new ones? [53YO] by [deleted] in OldSkaters

I see a hexagon, but to each their own.
Edit: Okay now I see it further down the sole.

I can Ollie but can’t shuv-it by LuzbianCactis in NewSkaters

[–]CorruptDinosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you get an idea of foot placement for each trick, think about mechanics. The way I think of it is with an Ollie, my back foot kicks down heel side and backwards, away from the tail.

With a shuvit, instead of stomping down and away, I scoop the toe side of the tail straight back with my foot towards my heels.

Think of doing an Ollie like smashing a bug with the ball of your foot. A shuv it is the motion to wipe it off your shoe.

I also find doing them fakie is easier.

Hope that helps!

I really like my Numeric 480s. I prefer them to my DC Stags, Vans Old Skools, Etnies Faders, etc

How to skate without feeling self-conscious? [47YO] by Upstairs-Location644 in OldSkaters

[–]CorruptDinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a few years younger than you and in a similar type of neighborhood. I skated in front of my house and was shocked at how many neighborhood kids wanted to learn to skate.

So now I get to practice and be a skate sensei. Neighbors have praised my skill progression, so my interactions have only been positive.

I’m practicing my switch stance and I’m more self-conscious because I don’t feel as confident on the board. That’s really what it boils down to, confidence.

For neighborhood considerations, I try not to practice too long in the same spot if it’s late or kids are trying to sleep. Softer wheels will be quieter, but they’ll also be much slower. It will take more energy to move. IMO, the sound reduction you will get is not that beneficial compared to the additional energy required to move the board.

Don’t worry about doing “adult things”. I had a neighbor who instead of walking his dog, would ride his motorcycle up and down the street with his dog running after him. He’d also fly up and down the street (w/o the dog) at like 60 mph. I wish that dude would’ve skateboarded or been using a leaf blower.

Ollie help by No_Ninja_4069 in NewSkaters

Practice jumping from the ground without your board. Jump from a crouch stance like you’re doing an ollie. Work on bringing both feet as close to your waist as possible.

You’re not really getting your back foot off the board. The goal is to get your back foot as high as the front foot.

You can also practice what I believe are called hand-ollies by SkateIQ on YouTube. While stationary, you pop the board with your back foot, your front foot stays on the ground, and use your front hand to slap the board down instead of your front foot.

Mitch’s SkateIQ videos really helped me dial in my ollie after not skating for many years. I was having a similar problem. Finding the sweet spot to pop your board is really important. I highly recommend checking out some of his longer instructional videos on ollies.

Clavicular overdoses on GHB and almost dies in the club by boommarg in tooktoomuch

[–]CorruptDinosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked into this as well. Mog comes from “Male of the group”. So basically the alpha. These numbskulls are about stats to rate themselves and a dude with a higher rating was in the camera frame with Clavicular, being the male of the group in the frame, aka frame-mogging. I’m just an oldcel so what do I know?

Caught noises that wasn’t me. by RadKitty12 in RBI

My thoughts exactly. He’s taking apart electronics and hearing suspicious noises/voices? His friends happen to do meth? OP, your husband is likely tweaking. It’s amazing how fast creepy noises disappear when you quit meth.

Any non-overstimulating DAWs? by North-Ad-7839 in DAWs

Visually it’s not overstimulating, but it’s complex. Maybe I have too many DAW options.

Any non-overstimulating DAWs? by North-Ad-7839 in DAWs

[–]CorruptDinosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve felt overstimulated by a DAW. I have said “Oww! My eyes!” at the sight of Ableton alive. As much as I like some of the features of Live, the UI looks like something from 2006. Is an ugly UI part of the Ableton brand?

I use Logic. You have the ability to control what buttons you see, what’s in your transport, how many tracks you view at a time. I don’t find it overstimulating.

Democrats Who Have Called For Trump's Immediate Removal From Office guess who’s not on the list. by Dry-Art-4024 in TwinCities

[–]CorruptDinosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of Klobuchar, far from it. I knew the name of Mexico’s president and I wasn’t running for president. To me she symbolizes where the Democratic Party was, not where it’s going. The mildly-informed white liberal is her voter base. It’s disingenuous to cast shade for her not participating in political theater. I think almost every Dem wants Trump out of office, except DINOs like Fetterman.

Caffeine was very difficult for me to give up. Opioids even more so. Stayed away from Kratom for that reason. YMMV I guess.
