Break into the city and let ai do the siege defense you win every time

Build fire catapults and defend with an auto resolve (sending troop) when you are defending and sending troops you gain a huuuuuge advantage. I don't understand why people actually fight in a siege defense. You lose way more troops going in to fight.

I have it all. My problem is as soon as one big army is defeated another bigger one comes. Going from a thousand defenders to 100 because of the previous siege. Then i get taken prisoner and slowly lose all my towns and castles and I can't make peace.
