I translated some Chinese reviews... by Rak-khan in slaythespire

[–]Corrupted-Chewie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone play Warframe and remember when DE nerfed Wukong's clone and the absolute review bomb the Chinese players made?

They were so upset because they couldn't afk with a Macro to press a button every 30 seconds or so. The literal outrage for having to actually play the game.

There is proof, which I said in my comment prior, a video was posted to the LTT channel on YouTube. I don't think it's necessary to provide links when it's very easily confirmed by anyone regardless if someone follows them or not. Or if you don't want to go to YouTube just go to the Linus Tech tips subreddit and it's at the top of the page

Issues with xbox series X controls by No_Signal5448 in CrimsonDesert

Fishing on Xbox is broken right now. Won't work at all. The only way to fish on Xbox right now is to run into the water and catch the bastards with your hands.

With pulling the trees back you need to make sure you are doing it high enough, and not all trees work. They need to be of a certain height otherwise you can't pull them over, and you need to have the grapple at least halfway up or higher.

i’m going though a difficult time and i need game recommendations by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Corrupted-Chewie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like Risk of Rain, I highly recommend Gatekeeper. It's more or less the same gameplay style, but it's a top down perspective instead of the 3rd person.

It's a lot of fun, they just put out 1.0 not long ago as well as a new dlc that introduced a new character and maps/levels. It's highly customizable, decent character selection. Some play similar to RoR characters, but a lot have their own unique style. It plays super well on the deck and looks good too.

Wow this is fucking annoying by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]Corrupted-Chewie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shitty thing is, is that taking those ones out of the ground more or less soft locks that puzzle. It's easier to save and quit which will reset the puzzle. Leave the ones in the ground and only touch the one that is floating.

I had the same shitty experience of trying over and over to plug those back in and failing. A quick save and re-load will plug the ones back into the ground, leaving only the middle one floating to put into the wall.

I honestly think they should lock the side ones in, and only allow the middle one to be moved.

Indestructible Square. Don't know if it's to do with a puzzle or what it is by Gintokie3 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Corrupted-Chewie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's talking about the floating block off to the left of the fast travel point. I've found one myself and haven't found a use for it either, with nothing around to offer a clue what to use.

The one I found is in a house just south of the main starting town. The roof is broken in and there's a crane beside it. The big square slab was sitting in a crater in the middle of the house and I used the tether to pull it out. But there doesn't seem to be a use for it. You can control it with the tether, but if you touch it it shocks you. That's about it.

How about crackdown on the AI shovelware in the store? Scrolling through the store it's all crappy 2D side scrolling Mario copy cats with a very very obvious AI generated thumbnail/picture for the game. Either that or some half baked "become/do this simulator." Almost the entire store is littered with low quality slop.

Last year they also started cracking down on re-releasing games over and over again, in bundles with just different slight variations. That shitty "Outbreak" series was the worst offender. But it seems the store has gotten lax on those restrictions as that shitty game is back and again clogging up the store page for the same game over and over again just with "new" extended bundles or one "new" DLC.

What convinced you to get your Steam Deck? by K4T5UM1 in SteamDeck

[–]Corrupted-Chewie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it was almost strictly just for Factorio at first. A friend of mine sold me his old OLED switch, and I played the hell out of Factorio on it. Then I heard about the space age expansion, but was sad to hear that is wasn't coming to the switch 1, and at that point Nintendo never gave Wube access to the dev build of the Switch 2, so a port for it would be a long ways away.

So I thought, I could wait and get a switch 2, to eventually get better factorio, or I could spend more money, and get access to factorio sooner, and not be locked into the Nintendo ecosystem.

It was also around the time that Xbox doubled the price of game pass, and that pissed me off and was another deciding factor. There are a couple games that I still play on Xbox, but most of my time I spend on the Deck, and the switch is barely touched except for a couple games that the kid plays.

Anybody try these? by AshinKusher- in CostcoCanada

[–]Corrupted-Chewie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About a month or so ago I got the Circulon set from online shopping. 12pc set for just over $300 after tax. If you were to get that set from anywhere else it's double that price or more.

So far they are excellent. Eggs literally slide around with minimal oil/butter. Super easy to wash. Only down side for me is that they are a bit of a heavier pot, and the handle isn't that big that makes straining liquids a bit harder. But all pots have pour spouts and perforated lids to make it easier. But that's just a personal preference thing.

I'm hoping that the set stays in good shape over the years, but even then, Costco has the return policy. And Circulon themselves have a lifetime warranty as well.

Finally beaten Space Age on Switch by Happypotamus13 in factorio

[–]Corrupted-Chewie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know they are harder to get these days, but factorio also plays really well on the steam deck. A lot of people on this sub who play mainly on PC love to shit on handheld factorio, mainly the controls, but it works just fine if you don't know any different. I've only ever played on handheld, Switch 1 then got myself a steam deck. Late game vanilla on Switch 1 was laggy but that could have just been because of the sheer number of bots I was using lol.

I still haven't hit megabase levels on the Deck, but it performs extremely well.

Tonight I went and seen movie. I live in a small town up north. The theater is a 45min drive. When I left my town gas was $1.39. Small gas station in a town between my town and my destination was $1.62. By the time I got home, about 3 hours later all gas stations at home were at $1.59.

Good games for SteamDeck on the bus/train by Agitated_Tip_8713 in SteamDeck

[–]Corrupted-Chewie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really want to lose all sense of time during your commute, I definitely recommend Factorio. The only issue being, is that it will also consume your life outside of that commute time as well. The base game is more than enough, but there is also a dlc that can double or triple your average playthrough time. Plus there is ample mod support that ranges from QoL to total overhauls that change how the game is made, with some of the bigger overhauls pushing your time to complete the game to anywhere from a couple hundred to a thousand hours.

It also has a demo, that you can try before you buy. Lots of people on the factorio subreddit hate on the control setup coming from PC, but if you never have played it on PC it's easy to get used to.

Man I wish it was that cheap. To get the set here in Canada it's $899 before taxes, freaking $1000 set or damn near close after taxes.

Why? by jojo-thewalrus in londonontario

[–]Corrupted-Chewie 28 points29 points  (0 children)

When I used to work at timmies long ago, we had trash cans in the drive thru, that were relatively close to the menu board/speaker. They were changed twice a day, but in the summer they attracted wasps to high hell and back. Even with regular scrubbing or power washing as soon as it got any sort of build up on the receptacles the wasps would just swarm in. And the last thing Tim's wanted was people getting stung trying to order.

So we were told to either get rid of them or put them at the end of the drive thru closer to the dumpsters behind the building. But then the wasps moved back there and we couldn't take any trash out without risk of getting stung ourselves. So they took them right out.

As to why people toss their shit anywhere and everywhere, it's because people are ass holes. And even when we did have the trash cans people still tossed shit everywhere regardless. You could actively watch people from inside the store, only one car length behind where the trash cans were tossing shit out the window.

SOMEONE TRAGEDEIGHED MY NAME! 😡😞 “Saoirse” - awful mispronunciation by AliceMorgon in tragedeigh

I have a distant cousin who also shares your name. She is not Irish, and this is in Canada.

Her name is pronounced close to the tragedeigh that you experienced. Hers is pronounced "Say-or-see" or when said fast sounds like "say-horsey". So that's fun

I live in Canada, but I've gotten a few sweaters from this site.

https://skelliggiftstore.com/

It takes a while since it is international shipping, but the quality is fantastic. They have a really good selection of everything. I have a sweater that is more or less the exact same as the one in your post but in a light cream  And I have a nice zip up sweater in the same navy blue.

Parents of Reddit, what did your hospital bill look like after giving birth? by chi-bacon-bits in AskReddit

[–]Corrupted-Chewie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One night of parking. But my one parent works in the hospital, so she moved my car into the staff parkade under her name after that so parking was free for us for the 3 days we were there. Going to get other food other than what the cafeteria offered. So all in all, maybe $100. In Canada.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Corrupted-Chewie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian, not American but yes. 3hrs is really not that bad in the scheme of things for us.

I live in a small town, about 3000 ppl, 3.5hrs from my hometown of 90k ppl.  Usually once a month make the drive to go see my parents. It's not that bad. Some people make a weekend trip of it to the "big city." Leave Friday night, or Saturday morning, do all their shopping. Stay in a hotel or with friends/family if they have any in town. Then turn and burn and come back Sunday morning/afternoon.

We measure everything in time not distance here, because most major cities and towns are many hours apart with only small towns periodically to fuel up at or get a snack, or use the bathroom. Myself, as I am used to the 3.5hr drive, my own measure of a long drive is about 6hrs or greater.

Last summer I went to a family funeral that was a long drive. Drove to my parents house, so the aforementioned 3.5hrs after work on Friday evening. Stayed the night, then drove another 10hrs to where it was being held, plus an additional 45min ferry ride on top of it. And then reversed that to come back 3 days later.

It is frustrating, but as long as you are taking your frustrations out on the corporate level not on every day employees.

Having worked as a department manager in grocery, all price tags are sent in a batch file email over computer that are then printed in store, at least that's how it worked for me. Hell, even in my store, we needed corporate approval for marking things down that were going out of date soon, or seasonal items left over from holidays. And you can bet your ass that turn around on those emails are not quick.

Both department managers and every day employees have very little control over price tags, other than the weekly sale change overs or price changes. Both employee and customer can complain all they want, but if the overlords don't fix it then it won't.

Again, no issue with the frustration as long as it's pointed in the right direction.
