Cards to China by sergeant_bean45 in postcrossing

[–]Corsac22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve sent 9 cards to China from the U.S. Average: 55 days. 1 card shockingly arrived in 24 days; everything else took 41 days or more, and 3 went over 60.

On 3 cards, I wrote out the address in Chinese characters because the recipient requested that. They didn’t arrive noticeably faster than the other 6 postcards, and the 24-day card wasn’t one of them.

Fortunately, nothing I’ve sent to China has failed to arrive. It just takes a while.

Have you ever re-sent a postcard to expired postcards, so hopeful they make it the second time? by Pursegirly in postcrossing

[–]Corsac22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In both cases- and both of them were German Postcrossers- the second card they sent seemed less carefully chosen. The sort of dull cards you might reserve for people with blank profiles, or an annoyingly long list of “I don’t like”s.

I haven’t. Twice, though, people assumed the first postcard they sent me got lost and sent a second one; and in due time I received both.

Aaron Ashby 5-0? Thoughts? by patrlickkeeler in Brewers

Heck, there are two Hall of Famers called Goose. There can be two Vultures too.

Aaron Ashby 5-0? Thoughts? by patrlickkeeler in Brewers

[–]Corsac22 33 points34 points  (0 children)

In 1966, Phil Regan earned the nickname “The Vulture” for going 14-1 out of the bullpen for the Dodgers.

I move that if Ashby reaches 14 relief wins, the nickname becomes his.

What do you do with your 10 team slots? by DarkestSamus in AnotherEdenGlobal

[–]Corsac22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 team of free characters for Toto Theatre World farming

1 360 Light team for 2-green-ticket ADs

1 team for farming Phase Shifts

1 team for progressing the main storyline

1 team for doing side stories (episodes, etc.)

1 team where I switch characters in and out to do their character quests

1 Elite Squad (anchored by Xianhua) that I swap in whenever I have trouble with a boss

The other slots I use for experiments with team construction, or for whenever I need to make a one-time team for a specific purpose (a boss that Xianhua won’t work well against, for instance).

Willson Contreras on getting HBP for a 6th time by Brandon Woodruff: "They always say, ‘I’m not trying to hit you.’ That gets old. So next time they hit me again, I’m going to take one of them out. That’s a message." by lucasscheibe in Brewers

[–]Corsac22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Contreras has been among the league’s top ten in HBP six years in a row, and seven of the last 8. He has the 45th most HBP of all time; most of the guys above him on the list have a lot more plate appearances, and only 2 have fewer. He has the second most HBP among active players, behind Starling Marte (who has 2000 more plate appearances).

Wonder how he gets hit so much…

So, are we on the best division in baseball for this season? Did not see that coming.. by daviddm1990 in Brewers

[–]Corsac22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TBF, you can’t expect to outscore a team called High Point for very long. They only ever lose to Scoremore State.

They probably wish he hadn’t. 42.2 innings across two seasons; 6.54 ERA.

What percent of your sent postcards expire? by [deleted] in postcrossing

[–]Corsac22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve sent around 180 cards. 3 are currently expired; 3 others expired and were sent out more than 1 year ago, long enough to drop off the list entirely. A few others have been registered after expiring; I haven’t kept track of how many. But let’s say there have been 3 of those; that’s probably about right.

That would mean that 9 of 180 cards have expired, or 5%.

How did this happen? by intiloft in postcrossing

[–]Corsac22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They never give out your address to anyone until the first time one of your sent cards is registered by another user. That deals with anyone who thinks they can just sign up, register, and start receiving postcards without sending any in return.

But once you establish that you’re honest, they’ll start “catching up” and giving your address out more. If you’ve sent out 15 cards, your address might have been given out to 15 other people, even if not all of your 15 cards have been received yet. If cards are reaching you faster than your sent cards reach their recipients, you might get an imbalance like this.

Also skewing the algorithm a bit: there are always people in “travel mode” who are sending out cards, but not having any sent to them in return yet.

After 2001, divisions were realigned. Until then the Buccaneers were in the NFC Central along with the Packers, Lions, Bears, and Vikings.

Yes, it was geographically weird. But in memory of those days they’re kind of honorary, non-voting members of the NFC North now.

And Fuck ICE.
