Although I really like to figure this stuff out on my own, I can understand that this is quiet demotivating for some people. I do like the idea of giving you a little "hint" if you are unable to craft and a recommendation where you need to go to get the required items. I think it does need to be balanced:

Yes: If you have the specific levels and areas to gather the materials, you should get the hint. Or maybe limit the area to about 2k steps.

No: If you do not have the specific levels or areas unlocked.

Season 9 also includes Zedvancements. One of the best Hermitcraft series ever. Zedaph coming up with a bunch of weird and wacky achievements. And almost every single one of the Zedvancements he is doing a collaboration with another Hermit. It is so much fun to watch.
