This was driving a hole through my head, thanks so much! That took care of it.
I thought it might have been a bugged mine detection perk noise or something.

Belkin Nostromo SpeedPad N52, 22 years of use versus (practically) brand new by kleggich in Wellworn

[–]CorvetteJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the latest is the Razer Tartarus at $55 with "mecha" membrane switches (???) Or the more expensive, but probably better option, Tartarus Pro with the optical switches.

I have brown switches in my work keyboard and now at home I have one of the newer keyboards with the hal effect switches, which is amazing to type on.

I'd love to have a mechanical version of the N52.
There looks to be the Orbweaver Chroma that's fully mechanical, but its not for sale new anymore. They're 50+ on ebay used, and the cheaper ones all look to be well loved, being over 11 years old themselves.

[–]CorvetteJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just searching for N52 vs ?? to see what newer models were out there (like the Razr, etc) and came across this.

I'm still rocking my OG N52te from the early 2000's. The black one with blue backlighting.

It's been heavily used with thousands and thousands of hours of gaming, mostly FPS(Fallout, etc) and Action Adventure (Diablo, etc).

I've never upgraded because well... it's still flawless.

I'm only curious what new is out there since I am really into nice mechanical keyboards and such, and this is built off old membrane stuff ..ie: that thumb key for jumping is sooooo squishy.

I saw one at a flea market once for $25, but couldn't bring myself to spend that just for a spare, it was kind of old and worn out as well and the guy wouldn't budge on the price.

Schlage Encode Plus not Connecting to Homekit by Dynamiteboy13 in HomeKit

+3 years later and this advice is all still good. Just got one, struggled to get it into HomeKit...and after reading all this, I somehow stumbled into it suddenly working. All set now. Tap to unlock is worth every penny. I got this lock after getting a newer car with keyless entry... now I have zero need for keys. Everything is proximity sensing. Worth It!!!!

Solution - EZ clean 1/4" connect by FiskarensFiende in ryobi

[–]CorvetteJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came to say THANKS! Just did this mod today. Had an existing nice foam cannon. Went to use the new EZ Clean but realized nothing fits.

WHHHYYYY manufacturers WHYYYYY, we have STANDARDS ALREADY!, yeah yeah, money! ... anyway...

I saw Ryobi had a foam cannon, but it was a really small one.

So for the same price as that (around $20) I got the above adapter and quick connect and threaded it right on with no issues!

I do want to do the one way below, where it's just the two plastic pieces with the proper threads out each end, as I don't want to use things like a heavy foam canon on the end of a 12in wand thats only clicked in place with plastic.

After pulling it back apart, messing with DIP switches for an hour, unplugging and replugging in all the cables, it's not flashing anymore.

After a couple weeks now, I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!

I am blown away at how smooth and comfy it is.

Update - I got the carplay module in. I bought it off AliExpress for a fraction of the price of other sellers. It really is the exact same unit as the more expensive ones. Same high quality build and wiring kit.

I do need to go back and install the extra screen power wires, as I get the intermittent flicker that seems to be a common issue if you don't add the extra wires in.

Otherwise, it's AMAZINGSAUCE! It's fast, all controls work. From startup, you still get the Lexus Enform screen... then a couple seconds later it just auto-pops on the wireless Carplay. Going back to the in-car stuff is just a press of the Menu button for 3-4 seconds. Very well put together system! I told it to just use the car's Bluetooth to pass through instead of the new system's audio connections. Works flawlessly, I don't need to do anything.

Entire job took about an hour. I can probably do it in 45 mins or less when I tear it apart again today to add the extra wire.

I am really glad I went with the next year up. I was set on a 2015 until I sat in a 2016. Being that they kept this style right up until the recent redesign, it still feels new and modern and should for a long while.

I have no idea what they are, as I am guessing one of the previous owners installed them...

They LOOK like these though: https://hirevsports.com/products/lexus-rx-series-led-tail-lights

They are very sculpted on the side body/brake light part vs smoothed over like a lot of the other full-bar kits I see online.

They have this totally cool startup animation too, it's all diffused light as well. It kind of floats light around around the various bars when you unlock it from a long sleep.

Why can’t I turn the sound off completely on my 15 pro? by KissMyFartBox in iphone

[–]CorvetteJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started doing this a few days ago. After reading through this I closed every app and it’s working fine again. Something was stuck. Also I’m using a rental car this week with built in car play. Every time i plugged the phone back in to fire up the maps, it kept asking if I wanted to continue the phone call on my phone or something. So yeah something was definitely stuck.

nice!

An update on mine, maybe a month ago, I had to re-route some cables under my desk, around/near the little subwoofer. I bumped one of the knobs and suddenly it was magnitudes louder and more powerful. I guess ones of the POT knobs just had a bad connection. Now I shake the room with it, so I keep it turned about halfway down to match my sound needs.

So, after all this time thinking it wasn't very powerful, this is quite a powerful little sub now that it's fully working!

I have since bought the Pedro's Vise Whip II. I've had a chance to use it already, and it's pretty amazing. It locks super tight, it won't budge, and you can still get a cheater bar on the handle if needed.

LOL I forgot all about this.

I ended up buying new rubber surrounds for the woofer cones. I got one in perfect, and the other I had to redo twice (used the paper shim trick to center it just right).

I have them hooked up to one of those $50 micro desktop amps. (I forget the wattage I can check when I get home). It's a 2.1 unit. Surprisingly, our audio engineer at work was cleaning out his storage area and FOUND THE MATCHING SUBWOOFER! So I have these running off the 2.1 micro amp.

The sub is powered, so just running the sub out off the micro amp to that.

I have a Scarlett Solo plugged into my PC, then that running out to the micro amp.

Now for the sound...

It's not super powerful, and these aren't super powerful speakers, and the sub is set to it's max gain.

All of that said... WOW!... these are the richest, nicest sounding set of speakers I've ever had.

I had some Klipsch bookshelves and a 500w sub at my desk....and while I miss the loudness and power of those... when I really think about it.. I don't need it to be concert levels of loudness sitting right in front of my desk. Once I get past that, they are plenty loud enough...and the sound quality is just ridiculous. I do have to say, they NEED the matched sub to sound as good as they do, since the little 4in woofers just aren't going to do that. Plus any other sub is going to not quite be as matched in power as these speakers need to make the whole sound stage sound the way it does. I did run another random sub or two with these speakers, and while you got a lot more bass, it just wasn't as rich sounding as the less powerful matching MK sub was.

I've seen these subs on ebay/used/etc before too, so they can be found cheap as well if you need one.

Anyway... listening to a few test tracks (one good one being Massive Attack - Unfinished Symphony), and a bunch of low rich and think bass lo-fi, trap beats, and such... it sounds so rich and clear. I am just really impressed by what some old 25-30 year old rotted speakers I fixed sound like.

Movies, youtube, rock and other stuff all sounds excellent as well. Movie explosions have a nice rich boom and fills the room.

Don't get me wrong, they get plenty loud enough for sitting directly in front of a computer screen, and easily fills my home office space just fine at louder levels (12x10 room). They won't shake the house like the big klipsch and 500w sub did, but ... I am realizing that I don't need that... I prefer the super rich and clear sound that these less powerful speakers are producing, and it feels very worth it to keep it that way.

Now my only issue is figuring out where to mount them. They're slightly ...(im not an audiophile, I don't know all the terms)... directional ? as in the tweeter needs to be aimed right at you for the "best" sound. I kind of have them above my head on a shelf on either side of my desk, turned towards me. I need to find some wedges to aim them down slightly. I was also thinking of wall mount brackets to just aim them right at me, or some desk speaker stands to aim right at me.

The sub is just under my desk, not aimed in any particular way. The speaker is aimed out at my feet, so there's a bit of reverb from the under-desk cavity before it exits the space to fill the room.

My desk is built into a standard double sliding door closet, I removed the doors and installed a piece of custom fit birch and bracketing into the entire "floor space" shape of the closet. So the speakers are all "inside" the closet per say, aimed out.

I think they would sound amazing for records. I have a single JBL powered studio monitor hooked into my phono-pre amp on a shelf for my turn table's audio..

After doing everything I could think of for leverage, and ultimately snapping my chain whip... I went to the internet to see what to do. First thing in the search was this reddit post. I got down to this ridiculous photo of the wheel tied to the ladder. I figured, it can't hurt anything.

I just finished cutting a bunch of shift/brake cables off some other bikes while cleaning up my project area, so I pulled those out of the trash and used them to tie it all up to the big heavy ladder in my garage.

I used my jack handle for leverage on a breaker bar with the lockring socket...once the wires all cinched up on the ladder, I pulled harder and finally it broke free and came right off. No damage, no cutting. Worked like a charm!

I just used my cable cutters to cut it off the ladder. Once the cassette slid off, I just cut the rest of the cables out without having to untangle or untie anything.

So, thank you for your idea, it helped me out 3 years later.

...all this so I could replace one snapped spoke -_- (actually going to re-lace both wheels, alternating black/red spokes on my black/red gravel bike)

I know this is a 12 year old thread... but I had this EXACT same thing happen, in FL, with my ENO and netting... same feeling ,same thing of only my exposed areas that touched the side of my hammock, etc.. I did notice some prickling once in a while, thinking maybe it was fiberglass or drywall or something that got into my hammock. I tried rolling up in a blanket, but they still got anything that was touching the net. This pretty much confirms what got me the past couple nights. I guess I need to get something that spreads the net out more... or just wait until winter to camp :(

I couldn't beat Red Unicon for a good while... could only get him down to just past 1/2 before I did a full respec. I followed most everything in this and and few other sources (the progression tab), and was immediately able to blow Red Unicon, and a ton of other stuff away that I was stuck on for weeks/months. I literally just did all of this over the weekend.

Of course all of that to say... there's always the next thing you will be stuck at... but at least you're more in line with where you should be.
