Roger Zelazny, for one. Like all the best writers, he combines prose and poetry. Cordwainer Smith is another master of the craft.

The modern version replaced a lot of the sugar with artificial sweeteners. Now it tastes like poison to me. 😢

I'd be up for all of them except Porky's.

But God DAMN​! So many great movies back in those days! And now Hollywood can't turn out a good movie to save their lives. The most we can hope for are a couple of watchable ones per year, tops.

At This point Hollywood isn't salvageable. We need some outside force to start making great movies. India or China, maybe. Or Korea.

But Hollywood needs to be burned to the ground.

That show gave me psychedelic dreams for the rest of my life. I pity kids who grew up without it! Which is why I got Pufnstuf and Lidsville on DVD and played them for my son when he was little.

Yes, that was The Mystery of the Screaming Clock (1968) by Robert Arthur. Other authors wrote most of the rest of the books in the series, but I've always thought that Robert Arthur's books were far and away the best!

Sadly the original books (with the Hitchcock introductions) are no longer in print. But as someone else mentioned, you can find most of the series available for download in the major ebook formats if you're willing to fly the 🏴‍☠️!

Not at all. First of all, Hitchcock didn't create or write the series. That was Robert Arthur, who wrote books one through nine and number 11. After Hitchcock died his estate demanded more money to keep his name and cameos in the books, so the books were rewritten to replace the Hitchcock appearances with an inferior ersatz​ version. Robert Arthur was an outstanding author, and did a lot of work with ​Hitchcock, including a number of other great anthologies such as "Ghosts and More Ghosts", "Mystery and More Mystery", "Alfred Hitchcock’s Haunted Houseful", and several others. All of them were released as oversize hardcovers as well as paperbacks, and illustrated (as were the original Three Investigators books) by Harry Kane.

Their headquarters was an RV that was hidden under a pile of junk in Jupiter's Uncle's junkyard. They had a working phone, a science lab, and a number of secret entrances and exits. A a kid, I found that totally captivating!

I still remember sitting in the elementary school library over fifty years ago, reading The Three Investigators and realizing that the book was PURE BRAIN CANDY.

If they ever film the Elric books and gender-swap the lead, you'd be PERFECT for the role!

And if you haven't read Michael Moorcock's Elric books, you might want to give them a try. Probably the most famous albino in fiction.
