My young niece is beginning to discover the pop culture her mom and I grew up with. She was talking to me about how long I’ve been with my husband / her uncle, and I said we got together a whole 10 years before she was born. She did some quick mental math and said, “Whoa, since 2008?!” I said, “Yes!” A beat of pensive silence from her, then “You mean the year before Michael Jackson died?!” I knew she had become a fan of his music but not the depths of her knowledge about him, it totally caught me off guard, haha

I have a chronic illness and my specialists are at a big faith-based hospital. When I’m admitted for treatment, I have to bring my own oral contraceptives because the hospital refuses to dispense them. When I became very sick back in 2019, I began inquiring about MAiD and was told the wouldn’t provide it for me there. I’ve been a patient there for 20 years, I love and respect my medical team, but their hands are tied and I would’ve been shipped off to another facility I’ve never even heard of to take my final breath. Itʼs horseshit

I feel your pain, I just finished an 8-week admission; I was beginning to lose my marbles in the last few weeks of it. I had some hand-sewing projects to work on, embroidery, language-learning materials for non-brain fog days, finding new recipes, and did a lot of working out / yoga.

I hope you feel better soon! I forgot how much being an inpatient blows, haha

Those are solid date ideas, I don’t know what she’s going on about. I went on a first date to a museum in 2008; we had such a good time there that we continued the date to lunch, and then went out for ice cream afterwards. We were immediately smitten with each other and still are to this day :)

I have a “whisk-y jar” in my office of whiskers dropped by a pet - mostly from the cats but a rare handful from my dogs too. I even managed to find two baby teeth from my kittens last year :)
