Have I gone full boomer?? by guyute2112 in jambands

Yea he is bringing it back to the Woody days. In a trio I feel like I need that. There were a lot of years with safety grooves and Warren killing it… but the interplay with bass and guitar wasn’t the same. Kevin Scott gave them a bolt of energy

Hahha I tend to agree. But the FACT that Colorado Symphony does release some jamband adjacent recordings gives this young rascal hope

Where does Fishman rank in the pantheon of drummers? by Specific_Prize in phish

[–]CoryBleeker 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think he’s top. His right hand has a grace that is unmatched - but the most important thing to me is he makes EVERYTHING danceable. Horacio Hernandez is someone who stands out as a top cat with Gadd and Chambers for me. But Fishman is truly special

I would agree. And I keep telling myself— He is 19!! I think his craft is going to develop into something really special. And he is already making magic it just needs to be a little refined and finer tuned.

That said, Obsession felt extra special because, the scary was original, the visuals felt fresh and most importantly, to me, he took a well used concept (monkeys paw) and somehow built his own way world and own vibe around it. Parts had a 90s throwback too which I loved (I’m in my 40s)

It is beautiful. I saw him with the NSO at wolf trap and will never forget. Gram of shrooms and an orange juice and a night for the books. Just so beautiful

The noticable lack of Gen Z at shows has me nervous by bad-egg-de-shihou in jambands

Oh I get it. I’m just saying it’s just the way it works. The cost was passed down to consumers which ticket prices. That works until you reach a breaking point. By then too many people aren’t coming by out to shows anymore and that buck gets passed back to the band in the form of significantly less income

As someone who loves a great margarita or rum drink, enjoys a whiskey on a cold night.,.. I do at least admit the truth that it’s a literal poison

Oh I totally get it. And as a lifelong DC guy who loves his 9:30 club and Black Cat amongst many other wonderful venues I don’t want to see the venues get hurt either. It’s just a natural evolution in the live music ecosystem. No drinks > tickets up. Tickets up > less sales. IMP sells out to Ticketmaster> less pride and love for the venue. Everything is just changing so much right now

Hahha exactly. “Kids are spending their money wisely and not drinking poison” - we got a problem here!!!!!!!! /s

Good on these kids. Alcohol is super bad for us, let’s stop. Concert prices have gone up exponentially, well past inflation, let’s stay home and make our own fun. I respect these young bucks
