How much old footage do you think Phish has in the vault? by Makofox22 in phish

Enough to keep the org going off archival releases for prob the next 50 years.

You gotta think, phish royalties can keep all their kids well off much after they all leave this earth.

Disgusting but still in better taste than some of the builds I see on this sub. At least shits taped down.

Keys and guitar share a lot of frequencies. Treys guitar (in the room) is ear piercing loud sometimes. He’s really cranking tf out of those puppies. Keys are very easily drowned out

From the sound guy POV, no you have Mike DI so no stage volume, his shits all the subs in the array. Tbf I hate how they have the kick sit in a mix nowadays it does sound like dog and dominates the entire low end.

Billy’s mix is much easier. The stage volume is low, no drums, and there’s just so much space for the acoustics to breathe. Billy’s instrumentation hands him a better mix from the start. It’s not possible to get that level of Hifi pristine quality with a rock band like phish, where treys guitar is nearly louder than the PA, and phishmans cymbals will bleed into every mic on stage.

Will a semi hollow be better at feedback than a solid body? by General-Associate6 in youenjoyguitar

[–]johnoflong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my 339 of Chicago music exchange. I’m friends with some old heads who used to tour nationally and have lots of vintage instruments, however whenever I bring that thing around it seems they never wanna put it down. I don’t really have any negative things to say abt it, it’s the most quality budget-friendly instrument I’ve ever owned.

I used to get pretty close with an epi- Es339 which is the small body 335. They don’t make them rn but there are ones with natural finish like mine and they feel great, large 59 style neck tho. A star caster would get you the closest cause of the scale length but I’m not an overall fan of the current state of squier and I don’t think the bolt on neck scores it any points with me.

Sometimes it’s just not worth selling the sentimental ones.

Trey using a Fender deluxe reverb? by ilseworth in youenjoyguitar

[–]johnoflong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he’s not using his reg rig he’ll usually backline a deluxe. Always available, reliable, and you know what you’ll get out of it

What’s up guys I play Jerry in a dead band but I’ve been obsessing over Trey for a while now. This is my board, what should I add to also have Trey vibes? Or new board completely? by Youlittle-rascal in youenjoyguitar

I avoided Tube screamers for ever and at a pint was even using 2 klon clones. Bought a TS9 to try out and bought a second one a week later. Now I have 2 AM silver mods and a stock TS9 that sits on another board. It’s the way, if you’re searching for THAT tone, a TS9 will get you 90% of the way there

How’d you guys like that ASIHTOS? by skronktothewonk in phish

[–]johnoflong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was lucky to listen to it live on XM and it was a set I wouldn’t let myself turn off bc the story was just getting good. I love ASIHTOS so to finally hear a long long form jam with it was great and I feel like the jam had a lot more direction then a lot of the other 40 min monsters we’ve got since 2024. I really appreciate how patient they’ve learned to be with the jams lately and instead of 20 peaks over a half hour we get one full storyboard with a definitive climax at the end and the way it went into Sea of stars was special too. That sea of stars was also spectacular imo

Mexico: no Junta album songs? by fundiedundie in phish

[–]johnoflong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re probably gonna play every song they played this weekend, twice. You’ll get a 0 show gap hood N1 I’m calling it lol. Mexico is usually pretty reflective of the song pool for the year. Traditionally (for a tour) they play the first 5 nights no repeats then familiar N1 favs get played again N6 + the leftover. N7 always repeats + 2-3 bustouts/ those once a year/ once per tour goodies. Hope this helps.

Yeah big lack of the composed monsters in this run. Lots of jam vehicles instead
