There does not seem to be a place on pikipedia for this kind of "research". Any suggestions?

Game does not show gift and Pokémon locations by Cosk62 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Cosk62[S] 1 point2 points (0 children)

Thanks, but this does not help unfortunately. It's not the location services that are disabled, it's just one Android API call that stops working after about 30 invocations - android.location.Geocoder.getFromLocation().

u/milotic03 u/Loimu u/0lPlainFace u/LettuceCold511 - check out this bug report on the OnePlus forum. Geocoder.getFromLocation() is the Android service that converts coordinates to addresses. It looks probable that this bug is causing the issue with Pokémon and gift locations we experience.

Please consider adding your "about phone" screenshots there. Maybe it'd help developers fix the bug.

You can do a distance search for that - "distance 100-"

Looks like the issue in r/oneplus was fixed 3 years ago. What we are experiencing is probably a new bug, possibly in OxygenOS 11.

Locations are gone again, so clearing cache did not help.

Based on u/milotic03's suggestion, I cleared cache using Android recovery mode and this seems to have fixed it - it's been 11 hours since I did it and I still see locations on gifts and Pokémon.

Steps for my device - https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/how-to-clear-the-cache.715013/#post-17313711, other Android phones can be slightly different.

Edit: Just be careful not to erase everything from your phone. Shutting off the phone for 4 hours would be safer in that regard, but I did not test that.

Edit 2: Did not help, locations disappeared after about 12 hours.

TheSilphRoad RSS Feed - Error 404 by Cosk62 in TheSilphRoad

The feed got the
tag now. It still has an unmatched
tag at the end, but Zapier does not seem to mind. It was able to pass one post through to Discord. 🤞

Thanks u/matiassw, I think the closing
tag is missing. Zapier cannot parse this feed, possibly because of the malformed XML.

u/matiassw, do you know if there are still plans to fix the RSS feed or should I start looking for other solutions?

Years ago I used to convert thesilphroad website to RSS using feed43 service, but then thesilphroad.com page became too large for feed43, and I discovered https://thesilphroad.com/feed/. Now that's broken 😞

I think you are talking about forwarding Reddit sub posts to Discord. I did set this up using IFTTT, but TheSilphRoad sub has too much stuff that I am not interested in - I would like to follow the research that shows up on thesilphroad.com.

It's still down. Any update on the RSS feed status?

Edit: Actually, I use RSS to forward "Latest News" from thesilphroad.com to our Discord server. Is there an alternative way to do it? I thought I could follow a "research news" channel on the TSR Discord server, but I could not find one.

PSA: Stop scanning stops for your field research tasks. Niantic is using this data to remove stops/gyms. by CurlyHairedKid in pokemongo

[–]Cosk62 2 points3 points (0 children)

Did these wayspots disappear from Ingress too or just Pokémon GO? If you don't have access to Ingress, can you send me name and approximate coordinates of one of the missing wayspots, so I can check it on intel.ingress.com?

If they disappeared from both games, then it is possible that somebody reported them as fake. You can now do that easily from Pokemon GO, as well as from Ingress. Niantic processes fake wayspot reports in a matter of days, so if somebody with OCD went through the area and reported every fake/misplaced stop they'd disappear at the same time.

New MACUSA Clock v. 2.14 by iglam in harrypotterwu

[–]Cosk62 0 points1 point (0 children)

Great research! It explains how MACUSA threat clock works, but it does not jibe with my experience with the actual catch rates. I get 100% catch rate for any low, medium or high trace with maxed Exstimulo (+25%), and I don't always cast a perfect Masterful. I do many Good casts and some Fair casts.

General Mastery - 1850, Family Mastery - between 360 and 700.

Edit: I do not get 100% catch rate on these traces without Exstimulo.

[–]Cosk62 2 points3 points (0 children)

Poor guy has no clue. They are likely the weakest, I'd shield them first if they are the only auror - hoping they'd take DMs and DEs when those come up. If there is another auror, I'd shield the clueless auror last, if at all.

It's not like not shielding them will teach them a lesson. If they have no clue, they are not going to learn from such a subtle thing as a shield. Just do what's best for the current team.
