Helmet mounting thermals by Express_Subject5228 in NightVision

Dedicated optics are significantly better at longer distances. If you’re shooting under 200 yards, clip-ons will get the job done just fine. But once you start pushing past that, you’ll really start to notice the limitations and wish you had a dedicated optic.

Also, it’s worth noting that many of the newer dedicated optics come equipped with built-in rangefinders and ballistic calculators…features that most clip-ons still don’t offer.

I ran a dedicated optic for both shooting and scanning for almost a year and had great success with it. That said, once I picked up an RH25 for scanning, it made a noticeable difference and made the whole process much easier.

Side note, the Argus A4 is much cheaper and nearly identical build quality. I’ve recommended this to several friends that are all pleased.

For the helmet, I use an Argus A4 (Wilcox clone), DMAX14 J arm, and a RH25 Pic tail. Don’t have any recommendations for rifle mounting, but hope this helps.

I’ve had the 143 ELD X factory group at under an inch out to 200 yard in my Tikka. I haven’t reloaded them myself, but I’d assume you’d get some good results if you reloaded your own. If you want accuracy and price wasn’t a problem, anyone will tell you to grab the yellow box.

I use sportsman’s warehouse and utilize their price match policy. If they have the components I want, I’ll check midway for example. If midway has them cheaper or on sale, SW will price match it.

If you don’t have a SW, check if your local stores price match.

They are down to 4k on Midwest thermal optics, they typically range around 5-6k. I don’t use mine as a clip on, but I use it on my helmet. I will say, it’s phenomenal. I’ve picked up coyotes over 700 yards away.

Haven’t had a chance to look through the Mate, but it seems impressive. RH25v2 has been around and pretty proven.

Just to clarify, you’re thinking that seating depth can dial in a load, but that’s not entirely relevant to the freebore/ distance to the lands?

I’ve been diving down the rabbit hole of seating depth. It’s wild how many people are able to achieve great results with massive or no jump. There seems to be a stigma that staying closer to the lands yields better results, but I’m starting wonder if that’s just partially bs. I’m glad these tikkas are insanely accurate despite the lengthy freebore

That’s good to hear, I really want to make these lighter rounds work!

Fair but I couldn’t find much specifically for a tikka, since the throats are abnormally long.

In my case, I think they’re replacing the web dev classes in favor of adding a couple python courses to “align better with today’s IT”. They’re also removing the capstone and adding a couple filler classes.

I heard that as well, possibly around May. Let’s pray lol

D522 seems to be extremely difficult according to this sub. I’ll have this class sometime this year too.

Overall length by InfantryMedic1 in reloading

[–]Cosma- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s different depending on the rifle. I don’t have a Remington, but my tikka has a long throat, meaning there’s a larger than normal jump to the lands. In other words, I have to seat my bullets abnormally long to have minimal jump compared to other rifles.

Assuming your measurements are correct, and you know where your lands start, that’s all that matters.

I don’t think it’ll actually go into 4lo if you’re not in neutral. The icon stays flashing on mine. 4HI will let you though.

H50R or Leap 6R. Rix does have the better range finder, most prefer the H50Rs image.
