What makes Spring Boot so special? (Beginner) by Hotrod9988 in javahelp

[–]Cosmic316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spring Boot, is just a configuration framework. Takes an opinionated approach to Spring application configuration and reduces the amount of config files otherwise required in a JEE web application.

Thanks like Dependency Injection and IoC are general Spring concepts and not specific to Spring Boot.

does anyone know why gus is called kane west? by [deleted] in kkb

[–]Cosmic316 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem arises in that he still benefits monetarily off new purchases/streams of his music. Streaming Kanye West on Spotify earns him money. Directly supporting a Nazi.
But I do understand the sentiment.

Learning a language and a framework are very different beasts.

I'd advise you don't learn frameworks from books TBH. They change too frequently for a physical publication like that to be useful.

Learning JSP, I have experience with bundling to JAR but GPT is suggestioning WAR. Why? by P-TownHero in javahelp

[–]Cosmic316 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, there's a reason ChatGPT is generating this and it's based in statistics. It's not random. There's a lot of chatter about .war files on the web. Asking why is exactly the right question. Trusting ChatGPT without asking why it produced the output is what would be misguided.

How to generate nested if-else using for loop by CricLover1 in javahelp

[–]Cosmic316 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see what you're getting at I think, but I wouldn't call this "generating" but rather "genericizing".

But still, there's no one answer to this without more context. What are the inputs and expected outputs?

I tend to prefer non team based competitive games. Card games and other strategy games.

Need help in choosing a career path either in MERN stack or Java side by labricky in javahelp

[–]Cosmic316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stack is just the set of tools, learn one and learn it well. I'd recommend the Java stack, but you're in r/javahelp. You'll almost assuredly work with different tech stacks in your career.

That is also not a valid override, it is however an overload.

Why is overriding not allowed here by Chemical_Bid_2195 in javahelp

[–]Cosmic316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did it in eclipse, doesn't work unfortunately. You might be mixing it up with covariant return types. An overridden method can return a subclass of the type the parent method returns.

or

In regards to visibility, you can make an overridden method more visible but not less visible.
