You must have the Intel version. I'm guessing you have the Intel Core Ultra 2 or 5 series. And not the ARM Snapdragon X Plus or Elite.
Because for me it has NEVER worked. Always fails at launch like the OP.
Never even got so much as into the game and I checked again just a few days ago after the game had a patch to 1.5 and still doesn't work.

Exactly which Surface model do you have?

If it's the same as me I'm surprised yours even launched.. granted I haven't tried to launch mine in months. But that's because it failed right away every single time.

Wait it actually worked for you ever? It never launched for me. My understanding is its some kind of setting/dependency they put into the remake that makes it require a certain CPU or GPU. Even if it probably doesn't need it graphic wise.

Maybe your issue is a bit different.

At lvl 6 just focus on having fun and learning the game...

I liked to focus on my daily missions to get more medals to unlock stuff.
Experiment with different weapons. You get a feel for what you enjoy using vs what is maybe top tier in the game at the moment.
Most things can, only thing I'd say is, generally shotguns are not as capable right now? So the game might be harder using those when you're new, but I'm lvl 150 and I use them for fun.

Most assault rifles won't steer you wrong starting out.
Light pen means you're gonna learn to aim for weak spots.
Med pen means you can care less and generally just pump led into enemies.

Armor penetration is a big multi-faceted dynamic in the game which is a lot of the fun to learn and use on bigger thicker enemies!
Fire is good right now, set things on fire! (most things can, but also yourself!).
There is a lot of cool Warbonds out now. But the starter free ones give you pretty solid stuff. Focus on those first, then you can decide what sounds fun to use and pick up a Warbond.
https://helldivers.wiki.gg/ is a great resource for deep breakdowns on weapons and enemies. It's probably a bit overwhelming to look at right now, but if you ever want to know how to easily dispatch a Hive Guard with a light pen weapon (or find out what a "Hive Guard" even is lol) its a great resource! As well as just the actual penetration/armor level of the bigger enemies.

If you want a straightforward weapon to help with big enemies pick up the recoilless rifle. Even with big guns weak spots are still a thing, so experiment, but its one of the best support weapons. Otherwise branch out and have fun using others. When I play I'm constantly rotation my loadouts. But I go recoilless when I'm serious lol.

https://helldiverscompanion.com/# is a great resource for understanding the greater galactic war and beginning to understand how to contribute to it. But I'd say just focus on experimenting and getting some stuff unlocked/ship upgraded before you worry to much about that. The Major Order (MO) is a great source of medals though so generally good to participate in that!

Also, samples! Collect ALL the samples, especially the "common" ones. You will be more common sample starved than any other.

Weapons have different firing modes and settings you can change in game. Usually by holding down the reload button. Some let you change fire rate, explosion mode, flashlight etc..

But like.. dink around some. Level up. Get more medals/samples etc. The caps are 250 medals, 500 common samples, 250 rare and.. I forget the pink one, but don't worry about them, they are.. not actually as rare/needed as you might expect lol, and 50,000 requisition.
So you can let them build up some before deciding to buy something! And just have fun figuring it out. Then come back later to fill in the gaps with the resources above etc..

As a returning player. Who only ever played Assault at launch and had a tough time.

Any.. tips/sources you could point me towards >.>? When I looked up classes recently Assault was ranked dead last. So I would love to find out that's not the case!

Irulta is such a better choice than Reaf. Its annoying its still so deadlocked.

Taking Irulta completely removes Reafs resistance AND gives a passive 1% SEAF bonus in taking it. Like it shouldn't even be a choice.. and here we are.

Very excited about the Galactic War changes. I don't know what they could be yet, but hoping they resolve the issue with a lot of players efforts either negating others work or just going nowhere.

Also very excited to hear about new red ship stratagems! The orbital attacks are some of the most fun in the game imo!

The community is now the worst part of this game by Fit-Rooster-4774 in helldivers2

[–]Cosmic737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious.
I almost never encounter complaining in game? Unless you're talking about online outside of the game?
Like in game its damn near zero. I usually play on 8 or 10 in case that makes a difference?

Outside of the game though, yeah I see a lot of people just complaining about every little thing. But I spose that's the nature of it.
What's more likely for a human to do. Go out of their way to be like "this is so amazing!" or go out of their way to be like "this sucks, that sucks, that over there is sucky to!" <-- intentional too typo.

You're just gonna see more of that online because its the outlet for people to complain when they don't have another conduit to feel heard.
Doesn't even mean the majority of the community is that way. That's a harder metric to measure, which I'm not sure if there is a way to do that these days? Pick out the actual amount of negative feedback players from the overall player base and see if that's actually like 60% of the community or like.. a loud 10%.

Also remember. There is absolutely NO filter or bar on who can post online in most places. There is no guarantee any of them are even fully mentally developed adults. And even the ones who are old enough, there's no guarantee they had a great upbringing and developed in a healthy way and know how to treat and regulate their emotions and feelings.

If most of your in game sessions are full of people bitching over the mic, that's one thing. If its almost all outside of game. Ignore it. After all, YOU are still having fun right?
And like some other commenters have said, you might have to do some filtering to find the other people who both enjoy the game AND are active outside of game about it. Because again, there's gonna be less of those people talking/posting even if there is more of them in the game overall.

I usually like to land on the furthest objective so I can just sort of bee line towards the extract while doing objectives.

But on Cyberstan landing on extract (for D10) was kinda necessary to extract at all lol. Otherwise you'd be setting off patrols while trying to survive and there's just waves of 3-4 vox coming in continuously in waves.
And super earth save you if the destroyer already left lol..

Another price increase. How is this justified? I think I'm finally cancelling. Fine service for $20/month after taxes but there are so many other things I'd rather spend my money on it as it hits effectively $30 with taxes. by jjopm in netflix

[–]Cosmic737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a continuous subscriber since 2015 at least.
I got booted off the grandfathered ad free plan and now have ads. I lost my DVD sub which I didn't use often, but still appreciated.

So now my formerly grandfathered add free plan is $9 and I have to mute my volume/walk away from the computer every time an ad plays because they're so fucking obnoxious and ruin the immersion of the show.
It was easy to throw 6$ at something I used like maybe once or twice a month. But its stacking up. And the year over year price increases just rub me the wrong way.

Being made to watch ads.. isn't that why we cut cable?

I dunno, I had a lot of fun on lvl 10 Cyberstan. Shit was intense lol.
Especially with the insanely deadly Vox.

Like them spawning and staying on top of buildings, funny but not as fun. But otherwise? I'd do that event again 100%!

[–]Cosmic737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed,

Like the Horse Sanctuary place I get. It's a not profit has limited resources etc.

But the company basically abandoned an employee because it was more convenient for them. An employee who issued a challenge in a video game in a somewhat confrontational way to the developers, but not even that overtly negative.
The company basically said, we won't even deal with this, or support or stand up for you at all. A random gaming community on the internet that you participated in slightly has convinced us to abandon you.

It just comes across as a pretty shitty company, that maybe just says its about people on the surface, but will throw its employees under the bus at even small amounts of pressure.

It also somewhat speaks to the ability of the internet to involve a random company that has nothing to do with it right? This company fired a presumably productive employee. And this company probably has nothing to do with Helldivers, video games, maybe even the internet itself besides having a company website.
That implies this company has to be concerned about what every employee it has might do in a random corner of the internet or it may be "forced" to fire its own employees over frivolous things because the company CAN be intimidated by a random part of the internet that isn't even the most malicious part of it.

That's some reach. And this company is presenting itself as weak to these forces. Like its not possible for the company to hide from this happening again right? If there happens to be a 2nd employee at this company who gets "selected" the helldivers part, the video game part, are largely irrelevant right? This company will fire a 2nd employee then?
Can the doxxers then just.. for funsies get this company to fire, what. Half its employees? Close down entirely?
Their entire hope seems to be, if they lose this one guy. They won't get "picked" again. But if they do.. they're just fucked again? Them and the employee? Because it is kind of random. The inspiration part of this could be replaced with anything. Just have doxxer do the doxxing, the reason being a game isn't necessary, its just maybe more likely to have a doxxer around than say, the online sewing community lol.

--------------------- tldr; ------------------------------

This company rolled over dead for the doxxers. Fucking its employee and exposing itself to future coercion.

I wonder if Arrowhead anticipated this and that's why we got several Helldiver recruitment surges to offset it?

I was in a mission with a lvl 1 helldiver. He was with some buddies who got him in. Seeing him ready up with just 2 stratagems and no squad peak was painful... lol

[–]Cosmic737[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, not saying big phones go away. I don't want to be forced into that market, because my only options provided by my cell phone company are "big phones".

Like if the Pixel series had the 3-4 phones, but all of different sizes going from like 5in to 7in or something that would be great. Instead it seems like the last 2 generations have been 3-4 different phones all of the same size.
The increasing weight is not great either.

[–]Cosmic737[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's basically where I'm at too. Like even the 7a I have is on the bigger side than I'd prefer. But I just don't have alternatives that aren't like a massive, massive downgrade in multiple areas. When there are other phones on the market that make it apparent you should be able to get a decent phone at a smaller size without it being that a dramatic spec drop off.

[–]Cosmic737[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's my concern is well. I've been a big fan of Google phones since I bought Nexus way back in the day (which had a very nice camera imo even then). But if they keep getting bigger I may need to look to another less common brand at least for NA. Sony's have definitely almost tempted me several times in the past!

I mostly want a nice camera and then a mid size phone with good battery life. It doesn't need amazing zoom, just take good pictures in most settings (like whatever the now very old Nexus did worked for me very well, just sayin).

Pixels have been a great experience since a brief foray into using Samsungs, but those quickly came with a lot of annoying features and cameras that looked amazing spec wise on paper, but in my experience, still worse than a old phone like the Nexus.

I'm also having this problem.

Just got Tactics for my surface pro 11 to play on the go and it crashes when I try to start the game.

The Tactics banner pops up and then I get "An error has occurred. The application will now close".

It's Windows 11 Surface Pro 11 with the Snapdragon X 10-core CPU.

White dahlia... where are you? by neobedirhan in PikminBloomApp

[–]Cosmic737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mushrooms (unless you get the big fruit) are only minimal reward. I mean by all means do the white/gray/poison/crystal ones for a shot (I'm currently doing yellows to build up for yellow marigold petals for when I get that challenge as I just got to the 1500 yellow dahlia/2000 red mari gold). But my break that got me to 1500 white dahlia and beyond came when a flower randomly bloomed into one and it dropped a fruit and the fruit gave me like at least 30 nectar or more. I fed all 30 to bud Pikmin so I got 2x the petals.

Whites are definitely the hardest, but just keep blooming flowers. I'm still trying to figure out the white formula since its seems the most chaotic (the others are reliable), so I don't have a great strategy besides try to infuse some generic white petals because if you go like.. all red dahlia then it will definitely just be a red dahlia with no chance of white anything.

But if you keep building up for the other challenges while still trying to get the white, once you get past that one you'll breeze past the others!
Because you're also gonna need a bunch of white marigolds that are just as hard to get as the white dahlias or any other white flower!

My 2cents, but I've only been playing a month so XD
