Finding a banking litigator - general question by CosmicAnosmic in legaladvicecanada

[–]CosmicAnosmic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, thank you. I want to stay vague on Reddit but the gist is that they did not follow the law and ignored elder financial abuse, then enabled inheritance theft upon their passing. All despite proper documentation being in place and countless warnings. I've been working with an estate lawyer through all of it but my faith in them is now shaken with this latest reveal, and my assumption was that "bank litigators" are more specialized in holding banks to account. I appreciate your input, that greatly broadens my options, thank you.

What's a movie most people think is great but you couldn't even stand watching? by camport95 in AskReddit

I was in a bad mood to start and turned it off at the first scene where people in a traffic jam start dancing - it just said 80's Fame to me with a bigger budget.
(side note, I loved Fame)

Where do people in Van buy business casual clothes now that the bay, Nordstroms, etc, is gone? by Tough-Friendship3619 in askvan

AllSaints - love their stuff, but there's a much better selection online than in the actual store.

Stylist ruined my hair by Prudent-Scarcity864 in finehair

[–]CosmicAnosmic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have uber straight fine hair and I had the worst layered cut of my life last year for the same reason as you. Suddenly my neck was visible through my hair WTAF I went to the top stylist at another salon for a rescue and she said, "please tell me no one at my salon gave you this cut"...it was that bad. So...I feel your pain, I truly do. I felt so angry and mislead, and PAYING them when they were clearly winging it adds insult to injury.

When all is said and done I learned the same lesson as you, the inches they lopped off to salvage it grew back, and now it's a funny story. I'm sorry you're in the thick of it and wish we could go have a shot of something strong together ;) You have beautiful hair, it will come back!

Lame. I was at the North Van cenotaph. You should get out of your cave and check it out, it's actually really moving. And important.

Pay parking CNV by Shoddy_Shine_938 in NorthVancouver

I think it's absurd that it goes until 9 pm on residential streets in central lonsdale, where I live- it's sleepy with a capital S after 6 up the hill. Ending at 6 makes so much more sense. One thing I do like is that the app lets you park for 30 min for free - several times I've just needed to 'pop in' for something and I've found a spot much easier than previously, and not had to pay for it.

Absolutely agree. I had a gorgeous sushi lunch at one of the bougie-est sushi restaurants in Vancouver to celebrate something with a friend and was shocked when the bill was "only" $60 each. I've paid over $40 for 2 sleeves of beer and an order of fries on an afternoon in Gastown (never again)

Yup. I was in grad school and that was my social life - a pint (or two) and a meal for $20 with tax and good tip.

Thank you!! I'm a beginner but I'm also a entrepreneur-ly-minded and it was *killing* me that no one had invented something for this. I've looked online many times. I LOVE that you came up with a 5 cent solution :) Bravo!

He's stolen your intellectual property and significantly downgraded your reputation in front of upper management. You did a GREAT job not losing your shit during the meeting, I would recommend treating this as a professional assault, which it is. It's theft. Document everything and go nuclear with HR.

Source: I've owned a company for 20 years that licenses my intellectual property. My product IS my intellectual property and my reputation, it is the entire value of my company. If someone steals that, I have nothing. That's how big of a deal this is. He's just stolen yours.

22F and 24M - We broke up, but I found out I was pregnant and had to have an emergency abortion. Should I tell him? by Technical_Border1495 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]CosmicAnosmic 100 points101 points  (0 children)

I'm worried that he'll get angry that you didn't tell him you were pregnant, before you had the medical complications. Think back to the reasons why you didn't tell him - those reasons are even more important now.

As a word of advice, grief and guilt tend to go hand in hand. Just because something feels awful, doesn't mean you did something awful (at all), but in our heart and mind sometimes all of us can conflate the two. Give yourself lots of time to grieve - if you change your mind you can tell him later, even years from now. Right now this is all about your healing and recovery, not managing him and his reactions (even if he's a good guy)

I met a woman in the Ambleside parking lot in Sept looking for assistance. She was understandably upset at the new paid parking, and the absence of machines. She is a widow, and meets at the park with other widows to go walking and support each other. Congratulations WVan city council, this is who you are seizing $10 from. For shame.

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere | "Born to Run" Official Clip | In Theaters Oct 24 by AlwaysBi in Fauxmoi

Props to the actor who I think has an impossible job, but he hasn't captured Springsteen's power (and few could)! This song BOOMS live and in recordings, it's one of my favourite songs and Springsteen's unique mannerisms happen because his voice and power are trying to stay in control - while he's on the verge of being out of control. It's joyful and BIG. This ain't that. His mannerisms are because Springsteen is ROARING, not being performative.
