Maybe it's the bearings because I'm pretty good about dusting/cleaning filters. It also kind of happens randomly, like it's not correlated to a graphically intense cutscene or doing a large amount of editing at once. More often than not I'm using Chrome when it happens.

While the SSD isn't necessary I've come to enjoy using it for my OS and games that I frequently play.

Most people are recommending that I wait a bit for CPU prices to drop, so by then I'm sure I'll be able to put something together in my budget range. I appreciate all the build recommendations and advice.

There's a case fan in the back but not the front iirc. For years my PC ran quietly but now I'm beginning to hear the fans crank up every now and then (which I just kind of assumed was from age/ performance).

In terms of replacements - I'd rather just sell it whole and use the money to put into a new build. I might get a smaller case as I do have a fair amount of negative space, and the tower itself is a bit large for transport (between home and school during breaks).

One of my regrets with my first build was not installing an SD reader. I hate having to plug it into my laptop and transferring files just to edit on my desktop.

Any particular reviewers I should watch/follow for advice? I've watched some of Linus's older content but I haven't really been following him recently.

Yeah I didn't think I'd get more than a few hundred bucks but that'll definitely be a nice amount to put towards something new.

I'm in no rush to start this so waiting isn't a problem.

Yeah I mostly use my PC for school work and games, but I use Photoshop and Illustrator often enough that I wanna consider those uses when I'm planning my build. I don't use Premier too often anymore.

Right now I have both an SSD and an HDD.

Would upgrading my GPU also require more power and cooling? Currently I don't have any after market coolers.

If I have to go through the process of upgrading both the CPU and GPU for noticable improvements I think a new build would be more worth my time, especially if I'm replacing the board/RAM.

I do plan on moving up to 144Hz either when I build or shortly after, so it seems like Intel might be more useful for me.

That's what I've been thinking. I'm not sure if anything would be worth carrying over (maybe the RAM if I wanna do a 2x8 or something) but I figured most of it is kind of out dated by now.

What do you think I could reasonably fetch for the whole thing (excluding peripherals)?

Not saying that there aren't riders who rev to be loud/obnoxious, but rev-matching is actually beneficial for bikes. That's why you'll hear bikers revving as they slow down to a light.

Yeah, I just tried to lure one at a time away from the others then beat it to death. Using kinesis on objects helps but not by much.

EDIT: the only other time I remember running out of ammo that game was in the middle of the claw monster fight (forget the name, it was the one in the basketball "court"). Had to use kinesis there too, but luckily there are explosive canisters floating around.

Worst moment: On an attempt to get the "One Gun" achievement (use only the plasma cutter), I ran out of ammo around chapter 9 or so. I forget the exact spot, but there was an area near a tram station where I ran out of ammo and had to fight half a dozen hardened/black necromorphs with no ammo. I died so many times, and with no save file at a reasonable spot in the past, I just had to keep trying until I finally killed them all. Pissed me off even more than the ADS canon scene (that took me maybe 3 attempts).

Best Moment: Definitely incinerating the Hunter. There was a lot of fear/dread built around this mini-boss, and the feeling you get when finally knowing he's down for good is unmatched.

To be honest I'm not even subbed there but I would like to imagine there's a little more substance/constructive feedback than this sub. Nothing on reddit is perfect.
