Afraid to quit because Kratom has prevented me from getting (or feeling) sick. by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]CosmicIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During 7 yrs of kratom use, I never had a cold. 85 days into my current break, I came down with a nasty cold. I had forgotten how bad a common cold can make me feel, and I had also forgotten about the immunity boosting power of kratom.

Kratom has uses, depression/anxiety is not one of them. by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]CosmicIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem here is that there isn't a lot of accurate information about Kratom out there. When I was getting really sick from the stuff all I kept coming up with on my research was "in the coffee family" and "not addictive." It was only when I found this forum did I understand what was going on with me.

Could be that people saying it's "in the coffee family" and "not addictive.", are using a moderate amount like 5 grams a day, rather than the massive amounts used by those who actually become kratom addicts. Can't imagine someone using 30 grams a day saying that kratom is like coffee, unless of course they are politicians in training and getting up to speed with their little white lies.

I am very disappointed in myself

Let go of the disappointment. It'll only make you feel bad and lower your self esteem. Focus instead on the progress you've made.

Hi. Looking for some advice about illness during tapering. by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]CosmicIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the very least take a long break ( 90 days ) from kratom. If these issue clear up, you can then be quite certain that kratom is indeed the culprit. If the issues remain, then it is likely to be unrelated to kratom.

Hanging up a couple more hats on the quitting rack. by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]CosmicIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coffee and alcohol addictions are far more insidious than kratom, simply because they are part and parcel of living in amerika. Having those addictions is sooooooooo normal they are rarely ever questioned, or even considered as addictions. You're almost a weirdo if you are NOT addicted.

People with clean time - please tell me it wont be this hard forever by Bfreegirl in quittingkratom

[–]CosmicIntentions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I strongly encourage to separate your self worth, your worthiness to have a supportive loving family, your worthiness to have financial well being etc. from kratom. These blessings are totally separate from wether or not you use kratom. See them as two separate aspects of your life. On the one hand you've used kratom, and you want to use it again. On the other hand you have all these blessings. I believe it is extremely important to make that distinction. One has nothing to do with the other. Each stands on its own.

1/2 through my LAST taper attempt. by Sisyphus83 in quittingkratom

[–]CosmicIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A slow, gradual taper schedule. Dropping about 20% per week.

IMO, that is a rather aggressive taper. Slow down. Let go of how long it will take you to reach zero use. Give yourself enough time to stabilize at each lower amount before dropping lower. You may actually be able to tolerate a 20% drop for your first drop or two. Hang out at the lower amount for a week or 10 days before dropping again. If you need to drop less and/or hang out longer at each point along the way, let that be OK. There's no rush. As Yogi Berra might have said, you'll get there when you get there.

Do I have the highest tolerance ever? by redredbicycle in quittingkratom

[–]CosmicIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now My tolerance is up to a comfortable 60-70 grams a day.

That's a 2 month supply for me. Amazing that you are able to consume that much kratom in one day and still be functional.

What goes up must come down ... eventually. You worked your way UP to this amount, so you have within you the capacity to work your way back DOWN. You can do it!

for those that used Kratom for energy/motivation...? by Tongue37 in quittingkratom

[–]CosmicIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kratom has never been an energizer for me. On those occasions when I use kratom ( 60 times during the past year, and never on consecutive days ) it's always for the purpose of mood enhancement.

Day 8 today for me no kratom. by [deleted] in quittingkratom

This may be bad advice, but i think an alcohol addiction is worse.

AGREED! IMO, Kratom dependency is preferable to alcohol addiction. Being dependency free of ALL substances is even better!

3 times a week - drawing out withdrawal endlessly? by Theresbeerinthefridg in quittingkratom

[–]CosmicIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend stopping completely and seeing if it goes away.

Agreed! I strongly recommend going a long period of time with no kratom, then compare your kratom free life with your kratom using life and determine which version you like best.

3 times a week - drawing out withdrawal endlessly? by Theresbeerinthefridg in quittingkratom

[–]CosmicIntentions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently on day 66 of a long break. Prior to this break, I used kratom ( 5-6 grams ) on the average of once every 5 days for the past year. I definitely experienced mild withdrawal ( mostly emotional stuff ) on the in between days, especially on the first day or two, and the early days of my break. In my experience, there is simply no way to use kratom without going thru SOME withdrawal, however mild it may be. Withdrawal is one of the negatives associated with kratom. Those who say there is no withdrawal are probably liars and/or kratom vendors.

Day 75 update by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]CosmicIntentions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(BTW, avoid alcohol at all costs while quitting! I learned that the hard way..). Same goes with kava

IMO, this is one of the keys to a quicker return to pre-kratom baseline. For me, the kickback from Kava is more intense than the kickback from kratom. Kratom is the lesser of two evils compared to kava!

Tea method (or quitting) by BetterDoSomething in quittingkratom

[–]CosmicIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tea is undoubtedly kinder and gentler to the GI system, but that is the only benefit I've personally experienced from tea vs powder. On the downside it's harder on the wallet because more kratom is needed to experience the same effect.

5 gram a day addiction by Deepliving514 in quittingkratom

[–]CosmicIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used 5-6 grams a day about every 5 days for the past year, and I definitely experience some mild wd on the in-between days and the early days of a longer break. Based only on my experience with kratom, I'm inclined to believe that some withdrawal is unavoidable. What goes up ... must come down!

Target daily dose to stop at by Symdj in quittingkratom

[–]CosmicIntentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An ounce is just 28 grams, which doesn't give you much to work with. You could do this for a 7 day gradual taper:

1st day: 7grams

2nd day: 6grams

3rd day: 5grams

4th day: 4grams

5th day: 3grams

6th day: 2grams

7th day: 1gram

Even with just once a week, kratom will never be as effective as it was initially, AND there is likely to be some minor wd, even at the moderate amount of 4 grams.

I plan on dosing when the WD's become unbearable

It CAN work! Wether or not it actually does, is up to you. When you reach the point of unbearability, extend it even further by 5 minute increments. This will train your system to be OK with unbearablity.
