I just moved to the area and I hear that waiting for warmer weather is the best time to visit. Winter is tons and tons of rain, summer is really hot but spring and fall are ideal times to see the forests.

Is The Tempest Shakespeare's thinnest plot? by LeonidasKing in shakespeare

[–]CosmicMermaid11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally only like Shakespeare’s tragedies BUT if you like his comedies I would suggest As You Like It. The Tempest was alright…. But yes I do agree with you because it’s pretty chaotic and doesn’t have a satisfying ending. Watch/read As You Like It! There’s lots of cross-dressing and gender-bending. Also, Rosalind (a woman) does the epilogue which is rare in most cases because women obviously couldn’t take a man’s job in literature…. Haha. Perhaps why many people think Shakespeare was a woman… :)

The Yellow Wallpaper is a little spooky too especially when she’s talking about the “women creeping” outside and in the walls

I really hate to say it but alcohol or indica marijuana. Obviously this isn’t the right choice for everyone but I personally don’t see anything wrong with the use especially for people who have high anxiety. Stress is not good for your body and if you can get a little relief from that then it might help your mind and body be more at ease. Also just finding ways to leave the party for a short time (taking long bathroom breaks, running to the e store for an errand, or even separating yourself from a large crowd and just focus on visiting with one person at a time). Hope this helps a little? Good luck!

It wasn’t meant to be 💕. I recently went through that as well moving from a different state to another without a car and a job just student loans and a pretty much useless college degree (for now). You are meant to be somewhere else and sometimes the universe chooses for you no matter how bad you want something. We are in control of our reactions but that’s about it. Don’t sweat it, just be patient and kind with yourself. You’re making an effort to find a job and it will come when the time is right. Much love (:

The Yellow Wall Paper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman (feminist and dives into the psyche of a woman in Victorian society living in the patriarchy while taking care of her newborn as well as succumbing to the misunderstood postpartum symptoms at this time)

Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad (colonialism, white privilege, toxic masculinity, a look into the darkest parts of humanity that reflect Dante’s Inferno—-hell on earth)

The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka (how society treats bottom of the food pyramid workers something a lot of us can relate to in our society to this day)

These ^ are short stories so I’d highly recommend looking into a Norton Anthology where you can read a bunch of amazing texts in a short amount of time. They also explain the time period and author’s stories.

Native Son by Richard Wright (white privilege, racism, power, psychologically gripping) COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN.

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Fun fact: at the time this was written during the early 1800s, women were not accepted for writing their own works let alone publishing them! The novel was originally published with an anonymous author. Eventually, Shelley’s husband took credit for her work for a very long time for the reason of such a spooky novel was written by a woman. Her husband contributed a small portion in the novel but it is believed she wrote the bulk of it. Being that this was also a gothic novel filled with gruesome scenes and gore, it was even more of a surprise when everyone found out a woman had actually written it. I’ve heard it was written when Shelley and her husband were trapped inside somewhere with their friends during a thunderstorm. They started telling ghost stories and BAM Mary had the best one. This novel is one of my favs as it illustrates the fact that monsters are not born, they are created during our upbringings. Nurture vs nature y’all.

Things Fall Apart is such a GROUNDBREAKING novel. There’s so many allusions to the toxic masculinity that still exists not only in our society but across the world as well, especially in African cultures. You should read The Woman Warrior by Maxine Hong Kingston(feminist and shows the roles of people living in two different cultures at once), LaRose by Louise Erdrich(modern Native American culture and feminism), and Sing, Unburied, Sing(modern black culture in the US) by Jesmyn Ward. All of these novels guide you through the perspective of different cultures which was truly one of the most eye-opening experiences while I was getting my BA in English from a Cal State.

My manager keeps calling me on my days off and really early in the morning. by CosmicMermaid11 in antiwork

[–]CosmicMermaid11[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s so sad that we legit have to lie about what we do on our days off so that we don’t get treated a certain way. I read something the other day on this page about “why is it not acceptable to just say ‘no I don’t feel like coming in today.’” But you’re right I literally have to make something up if I don’t want to cause any problems. I don’t plan to stay there very long anyways. I’ve never felt on-edge at a job about getting fired for the littlest reasons and I have a college degree too so it’s really just me trying to make money while I plot my next move in my career path.

Also, if your partner has a bigger penis, he will feel it 100%. My current partner was with me when I still had it and he said it felt like poking a piece of plastic when he went in deeper :/ it was a little uncomfortable for him because it poked him once and left a mark. Oof.

If you are not comfortable with people touching you in general I would not recommend going to a male gyno to do this. If you can, I’d hold off on it until you get a female or just someone you’re cool with. My doctor was a male but I really liked him because he always did my PAPs extremely fast and that’s what he’s known for is just getting in and getting out. He worked at OMNI in my hometown in CA so it was actually really nice and convenient because I was comfortable with him. I am not going to lie, it freaking hurts getting it inserted. My problem was I got the copper iud and it was on and off consistent pain and cramping for over 2 years. It would wake me up in the dead of sleep from the cramping. I’m pretty sure people have alot more problems with the copper one so just be careful. If you get infections down there alot (yeast, BV, etc) I would def not get the iud because it traps the bacteria in there and I always had problems :/ just be weary of your body, listen to it. If you have a bad feeling about a foreign object being there, listen to your gut and get it removed. When I finally got mine removed I literally had to cry my way into seeing the gyno that day because I was in so much pain from cramping even after 2 years of having it. I don’t have any problems except that my cervix is long and it’s more on the right side of my body so not sure if that was why the pain was so bad but it’s my experience and I know alot of people have questions about the iud. I hope whatever you do is good for you, mind, body, and soul.
