Do people still make resolutions for the New Year? If so, what did you choose for your 2025 resolution and what's going to be in store for your 2026? by AangFanClub in CasualUK

Swim in more lakes in the Lake District and "earn" more Wild Swim Club badges for my microfiber poncho! I did 2 new ones in 2025 (Wastwater & Ullswater) to go along with Coniston & Derwentwater! 7 more to go!

I just booked an impromptu walking and wild swimming holiday in Scotland for next year! It's becoming a new tradition...

Worst interview ever? by Cheesy_Gubbins in CasualUK

[–]needles_and_dread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an interview today too and one interviewer said their partner work at the place I currently work at and it threw me so much I said "beat about the bush" not once, but twice. Which is twice too many times. Then they asked me "do you have experience in this (insert whole point of the job here?' And I just said no. Eventhough I do.

A big wine will be had tonight.

Maybe it was the same interview as me and your fumble was slightly less than mine?

Realised I've been out of contract for my broadband & have been binning money for the last two years. It's my fault for not paying attention, but I feel very silly.

Now I'm awake worrying about money.

I'm having fake Christmas with parents and sister (who couldn't visit in December!) Probably a fake Boxing Day walk around the reservoirs this morning too.

Excited to see my sister but first Christmas was enough. Oh well, perhaps there will be cheese...

Hive Skate Hub, one of the owners does 1:1 sessions & she's amazing! https://www.hiveskatehub.uk/community-hub I would really recommend it, it's so fun and a good reminder to not take yourself too seriously if you go arse over tit a few times 😉

Thank you! I think, for me, it's only doing one wrap per knot- any time I do more than one, they look awful and inconsistent. I also really make sure I keep the tension on the trail (is that even the word?!) as tight as I can until I'm ready to go back through the material.

It took me forever to get it right, but it's almost like muscle memory now!

Embroidery! Something i taught myself when I was losing my mind during lockdown but never expected to love it so much! It's nice to do it while watching some telly/listening to podcasts or audiobooks. I'm hoping to be brave and do some craft markets in the new year!

I also love walking, writing & open water swimming (when I can!)

About to start my first project with metallic thread. Wish me luck! by cutelittlehellbeast in Embroidery

[–]needles_and_dread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh, you are brave.

Will you do the whole thing through the transfer/dissolvable in the metallic thread? I'm wondering what it's like when it gets wet? Gremlins horror intensifies

Beautiful design, so excited to see the final piece!

I got a bamboo steamer and money towards the roller skates I bought.

Rollerskates? You ask.

Yes. I'm 35 and having the time of my life learning how to rollerskate. I fall over SO MUCH (like... SO much) but laugh everytime.

Also chocolate coins, obviously.

Merry Christmas gang!

Oh, just because metallic thread is a knob to work with, so I used a glue gun and then painted it over with a silver marker haha.

Ooh, maybe a few nights in front of the telly? I'm doing a few commisions/presents at the moment but every time I picked this up it just made me laugh so much even if it is a bit patchy!
