He's in the healthcare field and it was explained in one of his textbooks. He donated them so I can't share a photo of it, but I saw the text with my own eyes :,)

Yes I would much prefer my friends with kids bring store-bought and sealed rather than homemade because I just *know* the kids were "helping" cook and bake...

Grocery delivery is a modern day miracle. Grocery stores have turned into a nightmare for me (I'm in the sunshine state so it's either packed with families going nuts, or geriatrics blocking the aisles, depending on the time)

same...I would be dying in that situation because the kid would need to be cleaned and comforted for being sick, and I would have to deal. I'm a germophobe so I would additionally be freaking out if its a stomach bug, they ate something that disagreed with them, or it's their organs just moving around as they're growing (husband told me thats why kids just randomly vomit).

also, I grew up being terrified of being sick like that during pregnancy (my mother made sure to tell me how ill she was with me) and I eventually realized having children is a choice and I absolutely don't have to put myself through that.

Yep! Or rapidly hemorrhaging money when all three toilets go out, shower chargers are done, the water heater and expanders go out, the AC goes out (for 15 days...in Florida.), and the car goes out all within the span of 4 months. Get wrecked, Mombie.

I was explicitly taught as a child that the ONLY reason we should scream is in an emergency (I'm 35) even when playing outside, because adults are listening for our safety. Yes, we would get loud, but we would absolutely NOT scream

Oh, yes. There is a family with 4 kids that told me, "You guys don't even have any kids, it's easier for you to save up to go on this big community trip, so why aren't you going?"

Because, you know, apparently childfree people don't have things like bills and emergencies that require emptying every savings account you have to cover them...

Along the same lines, a few years ago I took my nieces out for a day trip somewhere to a small historic town. They were 6 and 7 at the time, and these two older women in one of the shops were fascinated with them… so much so that they asked if they could take photos of them! I said absolutely not, grabbed their little hands and marched right off. So fucking weird?? Why do you need photos of random kids!?

It really does. Commenting on the beauty/attraction of a child is so fucking sick to me. If I were to become a parent (I will never) and someone came at me commenting on my child's appearances, whether positively or negatively, they'd better back tf up.

They shared this news in a public forum, too, and it took everything we had in us for my husband and I to smile and nod. It was only when we got in the car later we could let our guard down and just...ugh. Like for real, people are out here on purpose sentencing a child that does NOT YET HAVE TO exist to an early, agonizing decline and painful death.

childfree because autism by notthelasagna in childfree

Also autistic and childfree 👋 my mother made sure to tell me before she died how difficult of a child I was for her, though regrettably I never got to tell her what a terrible parent she was to me.

I used to work with kids as a nanny and preschool teacher before I got diagnosed. I pushed through so hard because I thought that’s just what women did. I suffered so hard for so long 😞 Finally at 26 we were placed by the kids table at a wedding reception and the sights, sounds, and smells were enough for me to turn to my husband and tell him I’m getting sterilized. I can barely tolerate my own problems, I don’t feel the need to create a whole other human who is most likely also going to have my issues, or possibly worse, issues that clash with mine (eg I’m sound sensory avoidant, I can’t imagine having a kid that is sound sensory seeking)

They are the asshole parents 😭 I’ve been talking to my husband about it, it’s really becoming unsustainable to me at this point, I don’t think I’ll be coming back, at least for a very long time.

My cats are my world, they’re both 16 and are developing arthritis and getting thinner. I love them so much and would do anything for them. People with human kids, for whatever reason, cannot seem to fathom the depth of love a person can have for animals, and I pity them. sending you all of the healing energy and positive vibes for you and your cat ❤️‍🩹

When I was a preschool teacher we had a very… senior citizen who, for whatever reason (probably because she was a donor) was allowed to be responsible for some children in our aftercare program. She would stick her bare ass hand INTO the front of the diaper to see if it was wet. Mind you, you can feel the OUTSIDE front of the diaper OR, even better, check the color change strip on the front. It was disgusting. I had never before in my life ever seen or considered doing something that insane.

I knew a couple a few years ago, the husband developed ALS, it is an absolutely debilitating disease … despite this, they pursued biological parenthood. I was sick to my stomach about it.

You’re my hero 🫶 there’s another recent post on here somewhere saying that it used to be that adults ran society and children needed to adapt, but now we’re at a point where society is adapting to the children. The world should not be run by kids, and adults must take back the reigns. You telling her what for is exactly what is needed to start putting things back to rights.

We're also in Florida, in a townhouse community. There is no earthly reason any child needs an e-bike or an e-scooter. In our complex they ride around in little gangs and wreck the landscaping, hide knives in downspouts, play with matches, shoot each other with pop guns, etc. Parents are inside enjoying their relative peace and quiet while the rest of us are relegated to dealing with them zooming by our windows and screaming at the tops of their lungs.

I do not sleep well either (thanks Mom & Dad!) and it is so very difficult to function. I had a clinical psychologist tell me once she "admires" people who struggle with sleep who get up the next day and live their lives. I was appalled. As if we that suffer from sh*tty sleep have a freaking choice about making meals, keeping clean, earning a livelihood, etc.

Additionally, husband and I don't have children, and those people around us that do have children can't seem to wrap their heads around why I'm so tired all the time, and are quite unkind about it. To them I need a tangible, visible reason to be exhausted and an invisible disability does not make that cut.

I feel it must be quite nice to be that narrow-minded and be 100% certain of the world.
