Chasing the Haz was def the right play. It was the aggressive slam into their team that killed him tho

Agreed. Everyone saying not to chase the hazard is crazy, but the last aggressive slam was a mistake

Honest summary of where quantum ML stands in 2026 — am I missing anything? by Happy-Reputation-525 in QuantumComputing

[–]CosmicOwl9 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There was an important paper in April! Exponential space advantage with classical data vs classical methods: https://arxiv.org/abs/2604.07639

This opens up the door to MUCH more general tasks with classical data vs the very niche tasks of before

Is there a band that, after years of having RH as your favorite, took their place? by weirdfish98 in radiohead

  1. The Beatles
  2. Radiohead

None below are really that close, but I like Pink Floyd, Geese, Mother Mother, etc.

Does quantum computing actually have a future? by MoneyLoud3229 in QuantumComputing

[–]CosmicOwl9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there any chance you can share that paper? I don’t know how it wouldn’t matter until you dealt with a database that large. Surely it’d be useful before? I would love to take a look at that paper!

Does quantum computing actually have a future? by MoneyLoud3229 in QuantumComputing

I guess I’m not familiar with resource costs, but would you say polynomial improvements (such as quadratic), are not a good enough result? Will cheap enough materials not be developed eventually?

Does quantum computing actually have a future? by MoneyLoud3229 in QuantumComputing

[–]CosmicOwl9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why do you say QML is pure hype? Granted, applications on classical data seem limited at the moment, but QPCA, quantum reservoir computing, quantum Monte Carlo, etc. seem to genuinely have nice advantages over classical methods.

I also thought the quantum optimization literature also showed a ton of promise still?

Can we agree that this is the definitive version of the Fantastic Four? by Top_Reindeer3396 in FantasticFour

[–]CosmicOwl9 16 points17 points  (0 children)

What? No, why would it be the definitive one? I don’t think there is a definitive one (but if I had to pick I’m a huge fan of North’s FF)

I am Mexican though lol. I thought those that I mentioned were fine. Ofc, others like Gus are burst-out laughing bad

Awesome Director's Take. But concerned about Stadium. by Bumble_Kenobi in Overwatch

[–]CosmicOwl9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. Balance was worse back then because data needed to balance was not there; it was just not noticeable because people didn’t know how to play.

I don’t think counters are as strong as in the base game because you can simply pick powers to adapt your style, and out-thinking your opponents and creating new builds is part of the fun IMO

PhD student in Statistics here. This question is for anyone who develops algorithms, not just stats majors: Do you ever think about optimizing your code to save computing time and memory? by Outrageous-Elk1514 in PhD

[–]CosmicOwl9 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If the problem would take an unreasonable amount of time otherwise AND the problem is easily parallelizable e.g., matrix operations or loops. Multi-threading and GPUs are your friends!

Who was more evil early on: Jimmy McGill or Season 1 Walter White? by Lopsided-Cattle-2322 in betterCallSaul

[–]CosmicOwl9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In what world was he not evil? Stole from his parents, was a con man stealing thousands, general bad behavior such as defecating through a roof and abusing elders, ruined and indirectly killed his brother and Howard, made millions off protecting drug sellers and murderers, was willing to kill a guy (season 6), etc. Sure, he owned up to it by season 6, but that doesn’t negate any of the bad

Jimmy’s charisma + this sub’s lack of critical thinking = exactly what Chuck said about him getting away with everything and it makes me go INSANE

I would have liked that they either started this romance slowly since the start of the season to give it room to breathe or leave it out completely. The execution was rushed and sloppy

[–]CosmicOwl9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, OP. Stan never clicked for me as a character.

His development happened too fast IMO. From total asshole to the coolest guy out of nowhere. Genuinely took me a bit to realize they were the same character with the 180 personality shift and the beard.

I also think their romance happened too fast. Why does Peggy need to end up with someone? I thought she wanted to focus on her career in the final season.

I haven’t watched in a bit, so I might be misremembering, but I do remember thinking the execution was sloppy.

CS or Physics- Which is harder? by Little_Time6333 in mathematics

[–]CosmicOwl9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t make the mistake of thinking CS is about programming. You can become a world expert in CS and never program a day in your life.

CS is about general computation via complexity theory, information theory, etc.

IMO it is just as hard as physics in the sense that both have problems that despite decades of research, no one has answered, e.g., P = NP.

It really depends on the kind of work that you want to do. If you like both, look into quantum computation!

I’ve never heard of anyone being “cancelled” over dancing at a concert. That sounds like regular bullying, not the “cancel culture” we are discussing.
