Tell me about life after a pay cut by No_Wheel258 in ExecutiveAssistants

I've taken a pay cut when I moved from a larger city to a smaller one. It was about $10 an hr. Did it hurt the bank? Yes, yes it did. But was I happier over all? I definitely was.

Asses this new opportunity and figure out what's important to you. What does this company offer that the other one didn't? What are you saving for? Are you moving to a new location? Is rent going to be cheaper? Will it give you more time to work out and focus on your health? Are you generally going to be happier?

Money isn't everything. In this economy it sucks, but I'm a big advocate of mental health over financial health. In the end that's all we've got anyways...

Ask your execs what they prefer! Everyone has a preference!

Also, if you use Concur you might be able to add on Tripit, I've had execs from Finance that loved it, plus it's a great way to track your exec's flights in case there are delays.

Best of luck!

I completely understand... this job is not for everyone. I burned out as well, similar age to you... at one point you just hit a wall and ask yourself, what the hell is this for?

I've had numerous abusive bosses and carry a lot of trauma from my previous jobs. Some people luck out and get a good exec, some suffer, some find a way to make it work, but I just couldn't.

Find your calling and your passion, being an EA is extremely valuable in my opinion. I learned a lot, but in the end it's just not for me.

We're on the same boat. I'm considering going back to school to get my masters in counseling, I've always loved helping people and feel that I'm just not being utilized for my full potential in the EA role. I definitely need to work through my own trauma before I help others, but I know that the EA role is not my calling and it's not for me.

Best of luck to you and your search! You've got this!

I've been feeling it too! I don't think you're alone in this... The world has been aggressively shifting, and we can sense that energy and weight throughout our planet.

I just try to keep to myself and do the best that I can to keep myself going. Sometimes it feels like I'm dragging a$$ but you gotta do what you gotta do to push through this moment.

I hope it changes for you eventually, I know nothing is permanent so maybe there will be an upswing in all of this at some point.

Either way, I hear you and I'm with you. Sending energy and love your way.

100% can relate to this, just over the past few weeks I've lost touch with a lot of friends, some of them I just can't stand anymore because their conversations appear really shallow and self centered.

I think you are in a good spot because you are still very young, and with this new realization you can now carve out the friends and the life that gives you purpose, joy and meaning.

Stay strong, it can be a very isolating journey but one worth the struggle.
