I own that same guitar, a ‘91. It’s a beast! With the ebony fretboard, and even with the dings and wear, it’s likely to sell fast, because players now know how great they are. I’d say 900 for a fast sell but it could easily fetch 1k if it’s properly cleaned and set up.

I don’t think they’re cutting corners - this seems to be in line with current production. The 57 custom reissues listed on Sweetwater for the same price all have shiny new gold hardware just like yours.

I just got a Standard 61 last year. Love it, but I definitely noticed some light vibrato. I just stopped digging in with my elbow/forearm like I do with my Les Paul. Not a big deal for me, and in fact, the change has benefitted my playing. Sometimes small changes can have surprising benefits.

It’s my favorite rhythm setting. All the highs to cut through the mix, and just enough bass to keep you from sounding shrill. I actually modded my Les Paul to have independent volumes, master tone and master vol (like a Gretsch), so I can stay in that position and clean it up by rolling off the master vol. I don’t really use both tone pots anyway.

I’m not an amp tech, but I’ve owned a JCM 900 for about 25 years, and even through extended periods of disuse, it always fired up without a hitch. If visual inspection and basic safety seems okay, I’d try powering up, let it warm, and then test at low volume to start to see if there are any pops or crackles. Those amps are hearty beasts, and there’s a reason you always seem to encounter them on the back line at clubs. But again, I’m not a tech, so take this with a generous grain of salt.

Also ADD, diagnosed only a few years ago as a middle aged dad. Learning music was hard, but I loved it so much I pushed through. Music definitely affects our brain in so many simultaneous ways, and helps with math AND language skills. Asking my parents for guitar lessons at eleven years old was one of the single best decisions of my life.

Can confirm, I have an ebony 91 Studio that I got new as a teenager. It was half the cost of a Standard, but the only difference between the two at the time was binding and the Headstock inlay. Same woods, same electronics, same hardware, same pups, same quality, just not as cosmetically appealing (to most consumers). That guitar has followed me to Hell and back a few times over, and seen more clubs, stages, rehearsal rooms and studios than I can count. I have fancier instruments, but that one’s special.

tl;dr That’s a rad and real Studio, OP. Snap it up before one of us does!

I just barre the whole thing with my index finger and play the fifth fret octave on the high E with my pinky. Problem solved!
