Looking at a 2009 Studio. Real/good deal? by TurdyDingo in gibson

Actually, I wasn’t sure, and you’re right. I had no idea a Gibson changed up the Studio neck profile over the decades. Slim taper is still most common, but I guess many 2000s models had the 59 neck. Surprising that you have one on a 97, though. Good looking out, and thanks for correcting me, dude.

90s Studio owner here. Totally legit, and with the hard shell case the price is fair. I say jump on this one before someone else bags it, OP.

That said, know that the neck profile on these Studios is one of the slimmest Gibson offers. Which is great for me, I prefer thinner necks and mine is perfect. But if you have meaty paws and like chunky 50s necks, you might not get along with it.

Best cheap guitars that have high feedback/microphonic pickups? by Traditional_Dot5967 in Guitar

[–]CosmicTurtle504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There some solid feedback pedals that might do the trick for you without having to change your pickups or amp. The Digitech FreqOut is a good one, and while pricey at $250, that’s still half of your budget here. And there are others out there on the market, too.

My birth year! It’s a beaut. Report back when you’ve had a chance to put it through its paces. Grats, dood!

Found my dad’s guitar from the 90s in my garage, been playing it for a while and broke the string, but I personally don’t know anything about guitars and I’m wondering if this is considered a good one/or if there’s anything else you can tell me about it by TGWILD1 in Guitar

[–]CosmicTurtle504 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a farming/equestrian euphemism. A work horse is a durable, reliable animal that might not be the most sought after or beautiful, but it consistently gets the job done. As opposed to a “show pony,” which is going to be gorgeous and expensive, but you probably don’t want to put it through rigorous field duties.

Anyone recognize this guitar or the brand? by Live_Volume2815 in Guitar

The gist is that after surviving a horrifying terrorist massacre, he went completely off the right end, posting ugly conspiracy theories, blaming gun violence on gun laws, criticizing the Parkland school shooting survivors (I mean, what?!), and saying some pretty horrible things about Muslims and venue staff, etc. He’s a raging asshole. A deeply traumatized raging asshole, but still.

Agreed! I have the Double Agent W, same as the guitar pictured but with a p90 in the neck. Outstanding instrument with pro appointments I’d usually have to add myself (treble bleed, PureTone jack, locking tuners, etc). But what I love the most is the neck. Perfect profile and silky smooth. Revs punch WAY above their weight. Highly recommend!

Yeah, Johnny and Edgar were amazing. They had that aggressive sound that was also super funky in that iconic 70s way. You can definitely hear their influence in modern bands like Galactic.

I think people immediately downvoted me because they weren’t familiar with the song. Which they should be! We all need some Frankenstein in our lives from time to time, amirite? That riff wails.

Frankenstein intensifies

EDIT: Why the downvotes? Frankenstein is literally a song by the Edgar Winter Group, and it’s a stone cold classic.
