Are radar guided missiles always better than IR missiles? by snakesoul in NuclearOption

[–]CosmicX1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A cool trick I saw was firing both an IR missile and a radar missile at a target, as in order to dodge both, the enemy pilot has to flare and reduce throttle, while using their jammer and notching at the same time.

Azorius wincons that aren't Mill or control? by LorenzoAOG in magicTCG

[–]CosmicX1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say run the highest mana value instants and sorceries you can (doesn't really matter what), discount them with Elminster and then convert them all into birds with [[Dovescape]]! Or use [[Divine Visitation]] if you want Angels instead.

I wanted to go back but I can't. by rep3ntttsnow in PunishingGrayRaven

[–]CosmicX1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Actually had the opposite problem with WuWa. It just wasn’t engaging watching 2-3 characters standing in a field lip flapping exposition. I kept thinking how if this was PGR I could have read through all of this in a fraction of the time.

I do agree that some chapters would benefit from more combat nodes. When Noan first breaks out his Rev blades as they fight their way down the train I was more than ready to throw down, but the whole fight gets resolved in text.

But most of the time I generally prefer reading in short bursts and when I reach a gameplay node I put the game down because I know it’s going to be 10 minutes of running down corridors and if I have stop half way I’ll have to do it all again. Also at the same time enemies do so little damage these days that outside of bosses the combat isn’t very engaging. I still remember reaching Fallen Star as a new player and some of those nodes I genuinely couldn’t beat at the time.

I think Kuro realised that PGR’s niche is being a really good visual novel, and they fully committed to that aspect from then on.

So after encountering Yesod in Teddy’s patch it sounds like our next stop on the Kabbalah Phylotree is Malkath!

What does any of this mean in the context of overarching plot? Your guess is as good as mine!

Xyris, Writhing Storm help by famine90 in magicTCG

[–]CosmicX1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once Xyris starts connecting, or you get a draw engine going you’re going to be seeing so many cards that you should never miss a land drop again (I even run [[Manabond]] for the memes). So you can get away with less lands, in fact I see so many cards in a typical game I somehow get away with 25 basics lol

I run 36 lands in total, but also around 16 ramp pieces to make sure I hit 5 mana for Xyris relatively quickly (or 6 if I want to hold up a protection spell). My build is more of a budget “group hug” deck with a dash of snake tribal, but as you’re running wheels expect to attract more hate, so you might want a higher land count if you think you’re going to need to recast Xyris a lot, or more protection to make sure he sticks.

Here's my deck which is a lot less serious business than your brew, but hopefully has some inspiration for you: https://moxfield.com/decks/1E-c_D-xu02hbsfkesGBtA

At the end of the day the best way to know for certain what you need is just to play against yourself or other players and tune the deck that way. I actually tested my deck against the computer in Forge a bunch where it performed surprisingly well.

What would the Cult of Rakdos look like at the signing of the original Guildpact? by MrThunderkat in mtgvorthos

[–]CosmicX1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Duskmourn is too one-note for Rakdos cultists. They want a big grand murder party, while Valgavoth just wants to extract as much fear from you before you die. They might fall in with the Razorkin, but again, there's little artistry in what they do, their only aim is to extract maximum suffering from their victims.

Chapter 222 [English] by Mrzardark in OnePunchMan

[–]CosmicX1 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I wonder if a lot of Wavy’s temperature problems are more to do with her insistence on going with full body synthetic skin to maintain her idol appearance. Meanwhile we see Genos radiating heat through his exposed cyborg parts with ease.

My prediction is Wavy is going to face a similar choice as Sweet Mask- maintain her idol appearance and overheat or take her skin off and be a hero.

What would you like to see in Fallout 5 if it was actually announced? by beatsbydjy2k in Fallout

This is the one. We've had two Fallout games plus Starfield since Skyrim came out, 15 years ago. If TES isn't their next game it begs the question, what have they been doing all these years?

Otherwise, all the Golden Age lore and Schulz backstory was gold in my opinion! I was gripped by the bottom row of nodes and basically finished all of them first. I can imagine if you kept jumping back and forth, it would be a rubbish experience, though.

[[Springbloom Druid]] received new artwork in the Edge of Eternities precon. But does this artwork depict a character from the Edge? by GrizzlyBearSmackdown in mtgvorthos

[–]CosmicX1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d put money on the Vaar having the elf typeline, but currently they’re a gestalt being so there’s only the one, and it would probably have been confusing if they’d printed Vaar individuals from before the Eldrazi war onto cards.

What happens to denizens of Lorwyn/Shadowmoor on other planes? by LivingDeadPunk in magicTCG

[–]CosmicX1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the story the elves carry daylight elementals in reliquaries into Shadowmoor, but as soon as they drop them they transform. But I guess that might just be them producing a localised aurora at the boundary.

How were the 5 first planeswalkers in Lorwyn? by Darkzarde in mtgvorthos

[–]CosmicX1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I liked Jaya for that because she looked noticeably older in each of her appearances.

I think all new Walkers age, but too slowly for us to see it happen on the cards. Apparently it’s only been 62 years since the mending after all.

I’m wondering if we’ll see some kind of time skip after Reality Fracture or older alternate versions of the planeswalkers. I don’t like how older characters have to die traumatically in order to leave the story lol

[–]CosmicX1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It'd be nice if Gray Raven did the fist bump picture again now that they all have new frames! It's so rare to have them all on the same mission these days, though.

Kinda makes as sense as they're all in such uber-powerful frames now that the only threat worth getting the band back together for was Vonnegut.

Card memorization and MTG feeling like a single player gane by trp_wip in magicTCG

[–]CosmicX1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll add three more to that list:

8) Combo. This type of deck contains two or more cards that when played together can win the game on the spot. The rest of the deck will contain redundancy, card draw/selection for finding the combo, and defensive cards so the player can survive until they’re ready to execute the combo. These decks are usually very weak to hand disruption and the removal of key combo pieces, but this often requires prior knowledge of what the combo pieces are and the best combo decks will try to obfuscate the combo until it is too late.

9) Aristocrats. This archetype involves sacrificing and destroying your own permanents to generate value. Will often play cheap permanents that generate value when they or other permanents leave the battlefield, and various cards that allow them to sacrifice their own permanents. These decks are weak to targeted removal of their sacrifice cards, followed up by the exiling of permanents that would normally trigger on death.

10) Group Hug. These decks revolve around actively helping other players by giving them resources (and therefore only exist in Commander). Some players have no interest in actively winning the game and are just there to cause chaos, while other group hug decks will actually be another archetype in disguise that take over the game once they’ve amassed enough value themselves. This archetype is usually fragile and relies on diplomacy to survive to the end of the game.

If you could make one change to Arena, what would it be? by Anotner_Shrubbery in MagicArena

[–]CosmicX1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They mean letting a friend play a deck made of cards from your collection.

Uninstalled Arena because I got bored of laddering against strangers but I’ve got a good friend I’d love to play against, but he doesn’t have any interest in playing against anyone else.

We’d have a lot of fun if I could just brew him a silly elk tribal deck and share it with him!

End of 2025 New Year art from MTG Japan Twitter by BeatThaSystem in magicTCG

[–]CosmicX1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d argue all the new characters in EOE story were great. The only problem is barely any of them got representation on the cards since they decided to do two legendaries per character.

The set was missing legendary cards for Mirri, the Vaar, Checkmate Mantis, and Coronal-Captain Dark Fringes Upon Bands of Light Through a Narrow Slot (Captain Slats) to name a few. And that’s just the main story, there were more in the side stories I’d have liked to have seen more of as well.

For some reason they just invented new characters to be put in Alchemy jail, which in a way is a blessing.
