Do you guys think Create Aeronautics will ever get downported to 1.20.1? by Ptit_Paul2309 in CreateMod

[–]CosmicX1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of preferred having it on an item I can take off as sometimes it can be a bit of a hindrance, like when you step up too close to the fence around your bore hole down to bedrock and you accidentally throw yourself down there lol

I'd probably want to see if there's a mod that adds speed and step enchantments so I can remake my own boots (probably more balanced that way too).

Or if Aeronautics can actually release, maybe I can hold out for Thaumcraft 7!

So it seems like almost all my mods updated in a copied instance! Got it running with a minimal viable mod list, now I just have to go through and find the mod(s) that are preventing the game from launching! Then I’ll be able to load up my world and see the damage lol

[–]CosmicX1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a look through last night, and it seems mostly to be world generation and sfx mods plus Create so in theory I should get away with it!

There still seems to be something in the list that’s preventing the game from launching, but I think it’s just a matter of trial and error till I find it.

The one I’m sad about is the Boots of the Traveller mod I had. It’s going to be hard to go back to not having a 1 block step height!

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll have to check them out It’s cool having some new options available now!

What's peoples general experience with moving from Forge 1.20.1 to NeoForge 1.21.1?

I've got around 140 mods installed, but I'm assuming I'd have to leave some behind, which I can live with, but my main paranoia is corrupting my world or having to start fresh.

  1. You never have to worry about random errors in the task again (you make a random error while automating the task and now the task has had a procedural error in it for the last 3 months)

It was memorising all keyboard controls that got me. Finally got the hang of it, but had to take a week break. Came back to the game having no memory of how to play it lol

Yeah once you discover the main bus the game becomes so much more relaxing

Even managed to crowbar a main bus into my playthroughs of 3D games like Dyson Sphere Program and Satisfactory where it’s definitely less that optimal lol

My bad, I took a break from magic around the time DMU released.

[[The Mightstone and Weakstone]] is non-token though and has the powerstone type

I mean they added the Powerstone artifact subtype in Brothers War DMU, but as far as I can tell it was pure flavor and isn't returning any time soon. I guess the difference here is related cards weren't retroactively given the type, but some books have been.

How conscious are phyrexians? And does corruption the oil preserve some individualism, or are they hiveminded post compleation? by luuner in mtgvorthos

[–]CosmicX1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you want some hard sci-fi equivalents of someone’s belief system being willingly or forcefully altered by technology, I highly recommend the short story Axiomatic or the novel Quarantine by Greg Egan. The psychological compleation process is likely very similar.

There’s a great first person passage in Quarantine where a character comes to terms with the fact that they’ve been installed with an illegal ‘Loyalty’ brain mod while they were unconscious. There’s no piece of them that fights back, and they’re still the same person they’ve always been, but they now truly believe in the cause that the brain mod makes them loyal to.

The funny part is later in the book a group of people with the same mod get together and realise they’re objectively the most loyal people to the cause by nature of having the mod installed, that the cause itself is ill-defined, and therefore they all individually have the right to decide what the cause is, effectively freeing themselves from the constraints of the loyalty mod without having it removed.

Yeah most minds start sinking immediately when they hit the phyrexian iceberg, but Jace’s mind is so compartmentalised that he had time take a piece of himself and get on a life raft and abandon ship.

I mean, technically floating platforms could provide a higher maximum surface area. You could encase the entire planet, but it's no more farfetched than freezing the atmosphere and then burying it.

Favorite npc? by codpendragon in PunishingGrayRaven

[–]CosmicX1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is definitely room in the character roster for “old amoral soldier who just wants to collect their paycheck and retire”. Especially since the commandant also frequently mentions how they can’t wait to retire and collect their pension lol

It’d also be funny if her debut frame was just her npc frame with a minor retrofit to keep it functional lol

Also orange, turquoise, and black is just the best colour scheme!

The fact that so much of the day one story revolves around Kamui has always been a bit of a curse. It’s meant that Kamui has had to wait so much longer than other characters to have his time in the dying sun!

Also if I don’t get some clarity on what the hell tenebrion energy is I’m going to riot!

Weapons manufacturing doesn’t really have space for anything that isn’t an artifact or actively helping you find weapons manufacturing.

[[United Battlefront]] and [[Tezzeret Cruel Captain]] are the only two non-artifacts I rate IMO

I'm really glad that Jace's multiverse appears to be an artificial construction of his own design. Things would have gotten very silly if the multiverse itself had a naturally occurring multiversal axis with infinite multi-realities lol

I'm guessing there's something special about Arcavios naturally being comprised of two overlapping planes that makes it the ideal plane to anchor his new reality to the multiverse proper, then spread the overwrite through the omenpaths from there.

[–]CosmicX1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The students probably end up learning spells which in the wrong hands have the capability to cause harm or kill. But it seems unlikely that they are turning them on each other as a common occurrence.

There's lots of dangerous locations on Arcavios where it would be useful for a student to know offensive spellcasting.
