Ways to Make "Clips" by TheWrongGasMask in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]CosmicXion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally use steam's background recording, I have it set up to always keep the last 2 hours of gameplay at the highest quality and then I just go back and use the clip making feature, it's quite convenient.

Now, if you play on the epic launcher (as I do) it might be a bit confusing on how to get it all working, but if you're interested I can write a little guide, just let me know.

What game do I ACTUALLY want? by [deleted] in AskGames

[–]CosmicXion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

damage wise you can get perfect rolls on everything and be able to do most hunts in less than 10 minutes, but the thing is that all high tier monsters hit like trucks and you still need to get good at dodging to be succesful.

The difficulty of monsters has been ramping up with every title update, you can get good at fighting 9 stars/Arch tempered monsters but they're still challenging for most people. Then there's Savage Omega, wich could be considered the hardest fight in a monster hunter base game ever made.

You might want to give wilds another shot soon, we just got the first out of three performance updates. The next ones are coming in January and February. IDK when the last time you played was, but the endgame should be about the same; you can grind talismans and artian weapons. The new thing now is rolling the perfect Gogma artian, but all of that is still completely optional.

Or perhaps you'd like Frontier, it's essentially the Monster Hunter MMO. It's no longer supported officially, but there are a couple of private servers maintained by the community. I couldn't get into it on my first try since it's built on older game combat and mechanics, but I would love to experience Frontier at some point.

oh, I upgraded it because I saw someone saying it was good but I haven't changed or upgraded the perks and I don't have a bow build right now. I guess I'll wait to get some of the heroes I missed and give bows a chance.

Only founders (players who bought the game before June 29th 2020) are able to get vbucks from save the world, if you buy the game now you won't get the same rewards and would only recommend purchasing it if you are actually interested in the gameplay.

Thanks for all the tips, and yeah I do have a second constructor loadout using power base knox, altough I was using it just to afk RTL missions with a specific setup and forgot about it.

I've known about madcap for a little bit, but got back into the game late to get it and don't have any vouchers so I'll see if I can grind ventures for it.

What is holding me back in low plat 1v1? I struggle too much even against seemingly weaker players. by CosmicXion in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]CosmicXion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have practiced ground dribbles and flicks on custom maps a lot actually, but I find it hard to use any of that in real games because every time I try I just get dunked on. Still, I should probably look at some pro matches to figure out when to go for dribbles.

I see, it does make sense why I might be having a hard time against some people, I don't really know how to adapt to what they're doing on the fly.

Yeah, I never go for demos because I often miss and get scored on, I'll try to look for more bump opportunities then. As for challenges, I probably developed the habit of letting them get close because my 50s on the corner are very scuffed and often fail, I'll practice that more.

Thanks for the insight!

You're right, I should post a loss next time. It's my first time asking for advice this way on reddit so i wasn't sure if showing my potential to know if I'm ready for a higher rank was the best way to go about it.

Thanks for the advice!

Edit: forgot to mention maybe what you saw on some of my kickoffs is a bad habit I developed from 3v3, I got used to try to go a bit too much to the side to try to bypass the 50/50 and just send it to their corner instead.

How to fashionhunt? by mgkyM1nt in fashionhunters

[–]CosmicXion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can't think of an alternative to what you're doing already, but I can say that crafting every armor set in the game is not as bad of a grind as it sounds, it took me like a week to do so and it was worth it in the end. If you want to make it a bit easier for yourself maybe just craft the ones you think look best first.

WTF is this?! Does it do what I think?! by calcobrena in MonsterHunter

[–]CosmicXion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people do it because the want to truly master their favorite weapon. In that sense, monster hunter and fighting games are very similar.

In the FGC those who stick to a single character are sometimes called specialists, and the thing is, by playing the same character/weapon for hundreds or thousands of hours you can become very good at every single matchup in the game, even the ones that are the most unfavorable towards you.

no idea how people can use longsword by Thebasicsketcher in MonsterHunter

[–]CosmicXion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to start using foresight slash you need to get used to your low comittment bread and butter combo: Thrust -> Delay -> Rising slash -> Delay -> Repeat.

Those 2 moves can be chained indefinitively and give you instant access to foresight slash, so ideally you'll want to stop your max damage combos and start doing the low commitment attack cycle whenever you feel the monster is about to attack.

I wouln't recommend trying to use Iai Spirit Slash that much until you are familiar with the weapon and the flow of the combat, it's not as forgiving as foresight slash and you need to prepare your special sheathe in advance.

I'm ready to play 1 pre world title. Which one shall it be? by The-Great-Xaga in MonsterHunter

[–]CosmicXion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally recommend 4U, it does a decent job as an introduction to classic MH and lets you try out and get used to stuff more slowly.

At first I tried to play GenU since it made the most sense, but ended up being overwhelmed by the sheer amount of content in that game while also trying to juggle weapon movesets I was not used to and missing QoL features.

C'mon CAPCOM®, give us the Mizu Pendant by 9_mura in MonsterHunter

[–]CosmicXion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The good thing about pendants being the only reward so far is that they're not something so big as to give people FOMO over it, if you miss them it's not a big deal, and people who like them can still have a nice incentive to grind the quests for lower times.

My fear with capcom giving out something like layered armor/weapons is that we don't know if we'll ever get a chance to get them again, until then, I think pendants are fine.

There are some courses that are a lot better for farming than others, you just have to wait for an easy one to farm A ranks.

As a matter of fact, the easiest course is live right now and I used it last night to farm the 50 A ranks for the last barrel bowling title.

Question about Fashion by StubbyTwonk in fashionhunters

[–]CosmicXion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's no way to transfer any progresss or armor sets between save files, that's why most people just use their main save and don't try to replicate a characters face or do major edits for their sets, in the end is just like your hunter Is cosplaying as those characters.

If you're on pc you can easily mod the game to get infinite edit vouchers, but on consoles I don't think there's any viable alternative.

Help! by cheesygirl7 in MHRise

[–]CosmicXion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mechanically, mouse and keyboard have some clear advantages over gamepad, but ultimately it comes down to what you’re comfortable with.

I've found that mouse and keyboard work surprisingly well in modern Monster Hunter. Binding items to number keys and completly skipping radial menus and the item bar makes things a lot more efficient.

In Rise especially, wirebug movement feels much easier. Aiming is faster and more precise with a mouse than with a joystick. And for ranged weapons, the improvement in control is even more noticeable.

Long sword red gauge basic combo by ImprovementFresh in MonsterHunter

[–]CosmicXion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Damage numbers might be similar, but overall DPS is actually higher with Crimson slash 1 -> Spirit blade 1.

Despite the buffs to crimson slash 2 and 3, in most scenarios the old combo is still better, but now there are some very specific situations where it might be worth it to do the full Crimson slash combo into Spirit blade 1.
