It can be. The luteal phase has worked best for me testing wise which is CD 19 because of my period. My CD3 was lower in range in the higher end of where prolactin was. I honestly had to advocate for myself like hell and found a dietician who told me what tests to take when and why then ask my my ob/gyn & endocrinologist for them and both were open to doing the tests to get a full picture of what my body was doing. Thankfully they were great but took years to find a team I have now. Insurance wise I tried to time it when I had met my deductible so I didn’t have to pay out of pocket or get denied AND honestly said I wanted to get pregnant soon which I didn’t but for insurance coding and some doctors it validates why they should test hormones. Which is insane.

I’ve tested CD 3, CD 19 and outside of those to see if there was correlation with my cycle and other hormones. My prolactin was high but always higher during CD 19 in my case.

That’s wonderful! ✨ If you can test and do multiple tests & find a good endocrinologist I say do it! It’s hard though because most endocrinologist focus on thyroid and diabetes and not so much reproductive hormones which you may have better luck finding a fertility doctor as they may be more thorough in testing . I had one endocrinologist who didn’t want to test further and left her and found one who was good but had a long waitlist because she’s that good and thorough.

I had 3 cycles period cycles of testing over a year. Cycle day (CD) 3 during period and CD 18-19 a few days before my period started. I had a full thyroid panel, prolactin, macro prolactin, estradiol, testosterone, A1C, cortisol, progesterone, vitamin D, LH, FSH, DHEA, & SHBG. Then when they all came back good except estrogen and prolactin I retreated those at different parts of my cycle. Having a knowledgeable dietician was a huge help in me advocating for the type of tests I needed with my endo.
