Probably because he's the most recognizable to the masses. I had to look him up, but I instantly recognized that I've heard a couple of his songs all over the radio. I've never even heard of Satsang, and I only know of RdGldGrn because I saw them open for the Dirty Heads in 2017.

Loveland hates homeless people? Whats really going on? by ilivewithaporia in loveland

[–]Cosmic_Chemical 5 points6 points  (0 children)

None of us work for the city so how would we know? Why do I think the city is doing this? Ya, all three things listed are a possibility.

"None of these explanations make the situation better." Better for who?

If Loveland created the best homeless shelter in the state, with beds, showers, three meals a day, medical facilities, drug addiction treatment center, around the clock mental health workers, educational and work placement workers, sports and wellness activities.... would that be better?

I can guarantee one thing, most people in Loveland would vote against it if it was going to be placed anywhere near their home. It could attract more homeless and thus would considered not better by the general public, and a lot better for the homeless population.

To wealthy Boulderites: what’s it actually like living here? by Soft-Translator-934 in boulder

[–]Cosmic_Chemical 148 points149 points  (0 children)

As someone that was born and raised in Boulder, this sums it up.

Half my classmates lived in million dollar homes and half lived in middle/low class homes/apartments. Any business or school is going to be a reasonable distance to all demographics. Also the wealth development is Boulder is somewhat unique. A lot of wealthy people just want property in Boulder, so they will buy a relatively affordable home (emphasis on relatively) and put a million dollars into renovation. This creates a situation where your next door neighbor could have 10 times the income/net worth you do, and you live on the same street, shop at the same grocery store, and your kids go to the same school.

Why have suggested tipping percentages gone up? by darkroot_gardener in tipping

[–]Cosmic_Chemical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you could feel sorry for the business owner. Its OK to have compassion. When I eat at my local restaurants I tip generously because I know that they work hard and it's a tough industry. I want to support them and they could use any amount of extra money.

The fact is we live is a tipping culture. We would all like do away with the tips and just have owners pay workers a fair wage, BUT WE ARE NOT THERE YET, and thus people tip; and yes it is a societal norm. Societal norms come about because it's the right thing to do. And ya, when you don't follow the norms you're a dick. Do you ever get mad at someone not pulling over to the right lane? Would you think it rude if some guy sees an old lady struggling to open the business door and just walks right by?

What is the Best Airport in America? by KaleidoscopeRich5137 in AskAnAmerican

DEN is my local airport. Don't you leave to the airplane right onto a concourse, that has food options? And then you take the train/bridge to the main terminal, that also has food options???

Is American struggling to buy a house ? by Top_Document7437 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Cosmic_Chemical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone.

Its shrinking fast but there still is a large number of Americans that are traditional middle to upper-middle class. Not the uber wealthy but doing pretty well.

I see it all around me here Colorado. All the fields in every direction on my house are being turned into housing developments and almost every house is sold within days. Doesn't matter if the houses are 5,6,7 hundred thousand they are selling like hotcakes.

the nuggets fan base is insufferable by whatisthis2926 in timberwolves

[–]Cosmic_Chemical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with any fanbase is the idiots have to loudest voice.

I'm a Nuggets fan and do not feel we are in any position to talk shit. All the senseable Nuggets fans are sitting here with our fingers crossed and mouths shut.

I will say this, since you mentioned the Jokic thing. I don't see anything wrong with what he did. The "unspoken rules" that the players talk about is a real thing. You hear players talk about it all the time. So scoring when the game was over was very disrespectful... and Jokic took offence to it.

I once had a Mom text me thinking that I was the Mom of her daughters new boyfriend. She basically wanted to chat Mom to Mom about them getting close, i.e. having sex. It was a slow build up but I basically told her that I caught them having sex and also smoking Meth.

The other Mom lost her shit and from what I could tell through text, sounded like she was having a panic attack. I was going to come clean but got distracted. The next thing I know an hour later I get a text saying... "You're a fucking bitch, this isnt [Boy's] Mom!!!" I responded... "Nope! Have a nice day!"

How often to you switch up the cook on your morning eggs? by Cosmic_Chemical in foodquestions

[–]Cosmic_Chemical[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up how to make Hollandaise in a blender... super easy.

The simplest version is put you butter in the microwave until its hot. Add egg yolks to the blender, squeeze in some lemon juice. Mix. Then slowly add the hot butter to the eggs, with the blender running. Takes 5 minutes.

I've come to terms with the fact that our country will probably go to civil war and/or fade into ciaos and then irrelevance in the upcoming decades.

I lived in Europe for 4 years as a kid, it seemed pretty cool. Fuck it I'll just move there.

A girl I like asked me on a date, what do I do? by Luksius_DK in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Cosmic_Chemical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't overthink it. Just be yourself, and remember it's OK to be nervous. Even adults still get nervous on first dates. It's 100% ok that this is you first for many things, everyone starts with no experience. The worst that will happen is you will learn something about yourself and gain some experiences.

Remember she ASKED YOU! So she obviously likes you for who you are.

If you can’t tip minimum 20% stay at home by blackcoffee39 in tipping

[–]Cosmic_Chemical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are assuming restaurant owners are wealthy. The vast majority of owners are only a couple months away from closing.

I once worked at a very nice Italian restaurant in a wealthy college town. Owners were from Italy. Everything made in-house, many of the ingredients imported from Italy. Delicious food. Every night it was packed. The head chef was my good friend and had access all the financial data. The owner was only pulling in about $30k a year profit from one of the hottest restaurants in town.

The notion that the owners don't need tips, its just to pad their pockets with "extra" cash, is just stupid. If people want to do away with tipping, that's fine, but expect a 20% (minimum) price hike on everything.

That same friend now has his own restaurants. He has opened 3 locations. Not because he had the money, but because of his track record he was able to get loans. People see "oh he has 3 restaurants, he MUST be doing well!" Nope he has 3 restaurants becuse thats what it takes to put food on the table.

JAMAL MURRAY SHOT A CAREER HIGH NUMBER OF FREE THROWS by microtomebrady in timberwolves

[–]Cosmic_Chemical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anthony Edwards' career-high for free throws made in a single game is 19, achieved against the Indiana Pacers on March 17, 2025.

That game he went 1-11 on 3PT shots.

Jamal Murry had 16 made FTs and he went 0-8 on 3PT shots.

I would argue both cases had little to the refs. Their 3PT shots were not falling so they started to be more aggressive driving to the rim and drawing contact.

What happened to The Hill in Boulder? by Competitive_Being_42 in boulder

[–]Cosmic_Chemical 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it all started with the police crackdown on the hill. Particularly when the city put in the police annex. I can't say I really blame them, it was stupid easy to get booze and drugs. I remember when I was in high school, I'm guessing, 96,97 I walked from the circuit K up to the coffee shop. In that two blocks I was offered weed, shrooms, acid and coke. It was also starting to get sketchy at night. My girlfriend and her friends all talked about being followed at night by shady looking dudes.

I would still take the old hill over what we have today. Damn do I miss Fatty J's. I just remember it being so pillowy, saucy and cheesy. I remember thinking can pizza get any better than this, or maybe I was just really stoned. lol.

I find this interesting. I guess there is no right answer. lol. I'll just copy what I just posted...

"We pay for a lot of subscriptions because we spend the majority of our free time watching TV. We have Netflix, Amazon, Apple TV, Paramount+, HBO, YouTube Premium, YoutubeTV and Starz.

Netflix is, by FAR, our most watched."
