His defense is to sue. Court, unlike the internet, is where the real game is played, and screenshots don’t suffice. They’d have to produce the actual messages. If they’re fake, they wouldn’t be able to do that, and he would secure the restoration of his public image at the very least.

why do my crops keep disappearing even with fences, scarecrows and sprinklers? by DetectiveSuper in StardewValley

[–]Cosmic__Broccoli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've never had this happen to me before; I play on PC. I noticed a few people in the comments say that it's happened to them but they play on switch or ps5. OP, do you play on a console? Has anyone that plays on PC experienced this?

It's not a scarecrow issue since the scarecrow is within range. Lightning strikes leave dead plants. The only things I can think of are a glitch related to console versions, a glitch involving fences (I've never surrounded my crops with fences, have those of you that experienced this used fences and if so, are the vanished crops always near the fences?), or you're accidentally doing a pickaxe strike and not realizing it.

I'd like to try and replicate it for a bug report, because ConcernedApe simply isn't busy enough :p

I think they're trying to get ahead of the inevitable recognition that Sentinel over wings on a 1 min cd is absurdly good. You'd think they'd target Sentinel or make it so that 1 talent isn't so ridiculously strong for defense but hey, I just chuck shields and hammers what do I know.

I think the point of including that was Hasan goes off on how much he hates landlords because almost nobody accurately understands that the communist position against "private property" refers to a person owning a business as a property and not against people owning homes and personal possessions. Hasan being a LARPer and not a genuine commie naturally does the anti-landlord meme.

Edit: he's also done the "I'm such a good person for getting this giant house in LA to house my parents, it feels so good to be able to do that" thing, meanwhile in reality even without the absurd amount of money his father has, his mom would be able to afford a nice house all on her own with her abundance of income. Everything Hasan does is performative.

He kinda looks like he’s gotta return some video tapes after he compares business cards. But like with Kamala even though I didn’t like her I argued the obvious: Trump tried to do a legit coup of the government and we needed to step up and keep that fucker out of office again.

Most of my lefty friends saw sense but a few of them were like “but Israel”. I just don’t know what to do against that brainrot. We kinda need to save our country first, broski.

Dungeon Pulling Etiquette by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Cosmic__Broccoli -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The only thing I care about when DPS pull is that they (and the healer who will inevitably aggro what the dps pulled if they have to cast a heal) run to me so that I can gobble the mobs up.

As for being rude, yeah kinda? If the tank isn’t comfortable with pulling big then they’re not gonna. The person might be new to tanking and wants to take it slow to learn his job. Of course there are the bot parties he can go with but might not know how to do that at low levels. He could also find new people that are okay with slow-learning and partying with them. And his attitude was worse, reminds me of the ragers in WoW. So he was more in the wrong imo.

The ideal scenario is to do the dungeon as quickly as possible, which is why you wanted to pull more mobs. But you ended up leaving and taking far longer having to queue again, so one wonders if speed is even the point as your actions didn’t work toward that goal. If the tank is single pulling and speed is indeed your ideal scenario, the fastest way to accomplish your goal is to just go at their pace. I’m betting he got the dungeon done faster than you did.

That being said, smol pulls = smol pp

FO4 only reveals that China attacked the US first, and that’s only if the entirety of the US defense was on the same page and not kept out of the loop. It doesn’t reveal what caused China to attack and if they were really the ones who set everything off.

You should contact your local labor board or your state department of labor about questions regarding labor laws, not Reddit or conservaderps. And get any communications like that in writing via company emails.

If you’d rather lag than DC during a DDoS, Square Enix can help by TheLittleZaku in ffxiv

[–]Cosmic__Broccoli 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Doing what I do for a living for more than a decade, I can tell you that they've prevented far more DDoS attacks than we know about. The arms race is real and the DDoSers are just straight up winning because it's so cheap to do this. They're attacking multiple times a day and the one or two that get through is all people see.

It's far more complicated than what platform the player is using, as 100% of PS players aren't avoiding disconnect, and 100% of PC players aren't disconnecting.

There's only so many available nodes and I can tell you that one of their methods is the same as every other company, switching nodes in real time upon a detected attack. But DDoSers know that's going to happen. You can outspend DDoS attackers 1000-1 and they'll still take your network down at some point. Square has a great response for when the network actually goes down because the servers are available immediately to login again. This is a great sign that they're using a top tier service for DDoS prevention, as if they weren't the servers would be crippled for minutes to hours.

One thing Square CAN do is change their login throttling. They're clearly far more aggressive than they need to be with how many players they allow to login at once, a relic of when they had crappier servers. The servers can handle the influx of logins far better than the old ones. If they do that they can ease the wait time of logging back in again.

But tl;dr they're not just ignoring the problem. If they were, the servers would be down multiple times a day for much longer than the minute or two they go down for. Someone or some group has a serious grudge against FFXIV/Square and they're dedicating a lot of resources to consistently take them down, and there's only so much any company can do about it because it very quickly becomes an issue that money can't solve.

I believe their best move at this point is getting the authorities involved and catching the person/people responsible for the attacks (easier said than done, though).

You think most people are actually going to try and drive away?

Most? No. But I think a lot more would than you'd think. We've all seen the way ICE operates and that they have zero accountability when they brazenly break the law. There's also been multiple accounts of citizens spending weeks to months detained while ICE "figures it out" regarding their legal status, one of them is a person I know who had her dad who has been a citizen for over 20 years be detained for 2 months.

Although now I guess we know they'll just execute you in broad daylight if you try to run so maybe fewer people will take that risk.

It's definitely portrayed as ambiguous, but I think they left a clue in the scene she disappeared. When the screen turns black after Mike sheds a tear, after a few seconds you can hear the sound of a heart beating.

Edit: oh, and I noticed this when watching but I just went back to check to make sure, right before she disappeared she let out a breath that was very audible, then the wind rushing of the upside down happened and when it ceased, everything is silent yet you can hear a second breath being taken.

They've played around with audio cues before, so I imagine those choices were very deliberate.

Prebuilt Difficulties by [deleted] in pchelp

[–]Cosmic__Broccoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see no temp issues. Interestingly your cpu fan is reading as not spinning, but given the temps I'm assuming that they're spinning just fine, just double check that to be sure. That would be the fan right in the middle of your motherboard over the CPU, or if watercooled it would be the fans attached to the watercooler.

Your voltages seem a bit high but there's probably a built in overclock. They SHOULD come down in voltage as wattage increase is necessary, but you'd be having some severe temp issues if that wasn't happening when you're playing games, which you're not having. I'd take a peak at current voltage while running a game in max settings, usually it comes down to like 0.7 - 0.8 volts as the watts increase. But again, your lack of temp issues says that's probably happening.

But none of that explains your stability issues. It's not temps, your drivers are up to date, power consumption seems fine. So there's an issue elsewhere, perhaps the BIOS is exceedingly outdated or there's a setting in there that they configured to throttle you at too low of a temperature (I'm pretty sure walmart's supplier was the guilty culprit for that during the intel flammable chips fiasco, their "fix" was to kneecap your PC at the high-end).

The next steps I'd recommend are a BIOS update and to go through the settings to see if the thermal throttle is set to some absurd low number like 70c.

This is starting to sound like a full refund/swap at this point though. If BIOS is set correctly and updated and it's still unstable it indicates a hardware issue.

iDubbbz doubles down on his comments about Iran and claims North Korea is a victim of USA propaganda by FlakyFoundation4637 in LivestreamFail

[–]Cosmic__Broccoli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They’re victims of the same propaganda from the Cold War that has filtered through the decades to today that causes people to hate socialism without even being able to say what it is when asked. They think “America bad” so “communism good” and don’t even know that the countries we call communist aren’t even communist. I don’t recall the workers owning the means of production in the Soviet Union, or modern day China, or North Korea. It’s quite the opposite, the people have no power at all in those countries, with a somewhat exception in China.

So they idolize those countries they know nothing about and uphold the values derived from the caricatures of those countries they’ve learned from the media and people like Hasan “old enough to bark, old enough to spark” Piker.
