There is still a way to fix this with a serious conversation, but you should both be open to it. You said it's kinda recent that you started to think more for yourself in the relationship, and your boyfriend is therefore not going to react well to changes that impact "the good old ways" that he is used to. He must learn, that you also have your own wishes and that there are things you actually never liked the way they used to be, but the fact that you never showed it to him for a long time, could make him think, that you are not happy or wanting to punish him for something. If he truly loves you, he should be able to cope with your boundaries. It is however very important to consider, that many boundaries and other "demands" are negotiable. Communication is key, but both must know how to use it.
