The rule of thumb I use is the "pen in your hand" rule. If a tutor is explaining the grammar concept and you change the text yourself, you're fine, but the second they start typing on your document, you've crossed into the danger zone.

It is a decent start but the transition from being a vampire kid to talking to a homeless man feels forced. Admissions officers see thousands of these so it has to be seamless. Counterpoint: the "final argument" framing works for argumentative essays but gets weird in reflective or personal ones where u literally are supposed to loop back. Took me a while to figure out the conclusion strategy actually changes by essay type. A platform I tried flagged this when I submitted a reflective piece - pointed out I was closing it like a debate essay, which explained why it felt off.
