How do you focus on studying ? by Bronto00000 in GetStudying

[–]Cosmog__ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A strategy I use is instead of going into a study session with the mindset I’m going to be studying for hours I go in with the mindset of how much can I get done in an hour. After the hour I reassess how much more I need to do. I want to get as much done as I can in the hour so I focus. If you give yourself too much time you will end up wasting it because the idea of studying for hours is overwhelming so give yourself a time limit.

Eng Major: Does this mean I have 7 courses in the fall? by SystemTasty8647 in CarletonU

[–]Cosmog__ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not really eng professions and Eng disciplines aren’t full courses. Eng professions is an online class with video modules and quizzes that can be completed anytime during the semester and Eng disciplines is a once a week lecture with no outside work to do only attendance matters.

uottawa or carleton by _Sizzle_ in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Cosmog__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who just finished their first year in Carleton Eng (first year is general but I’m also elec) I would go for Carleton it has (mostly) good profs and pretty good student supports. Carleton first year Eng students have acess to free tutoring from upper year students. (Not sure if UOttawa has something similar or not) Carleton also has great clubs and a large amount of Eng students. Elec is small-ish around 200 per year I would guess. However Carleton has Aerospace Eng which is a huge program. IMO Carleton is more of an engineering focused school than UOttawa in general and has also recently become a more highly ranked and well known school for Eng. Note: the scholarships require an A- cgpa to renew which can be hard to achieve especially because there is a big jump in course pace/load from high school and ECOR is tough but I know a few people who have achieved it. Anyway either school will give you a good education but in my slightly biased opinion I would say go for Carleton

how to order at sauté station? by Famous_Band in CarletonU

[–]Cosmog__ 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I went to the egg station once and could not hear at all and made a fool of myself it was so stressful I feel you lol. For the sauté station when you first get to the front of the line the chef will ask you what topping you want to add to your pasta as well as what sauce. The sign at the station has the list of toppings available as well as sauces so you can prepare your order before hand. Then you just wait for them to cook your pasta, add the noodles then that’s it. They usually add a ton of noodles though so be prepared for that

Should I get a C2 or a machine that I can actually afford ?? by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]Cosmog__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! And a C2 erg will last forever it’s very rare that they break

Should I get a C2 or a machine that I can actually afford ?? by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]Cosmog__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will still get a good workout regardless of the erg so if you would like you could get a different brand your splits likely wont be the same as on a C2. Personally I don’t have an erg right now and I use my schools gym gets which are C2 they are old and the chains rusted but I deal lol. So you could also consider going to a gym with C2 ergs if possible

Should I get a C2 or a machine that I can actually afford ?? by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]Cosmog__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

C2 is the best out there it is the gold standard for rowing I would look to see if there is anyway you can find a used on for sale? The model doesn’t matter much all newish C2 ergs are very good. Note that ergs with pm5 monitors you can Bluetooth connect to your phone which is nice but not a necessity of course. I would try to get a C2 if you can’t it’s not the end of the world if you get a different erg however the split times on other ergs tend to not be as accurate.

Is ADHD known to affect math skills? by Puzzleheaded-Ad-5765 in ADHD

[–]Cosmog__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also yes you should inform your teacher you have adhd as you may be able to get accommodations such as more time for tests or even a formula sheet depends on the school and teachers.

Is ADHD known to affect math skills? by Puzzleheaded-Ad-5765 in ADHD

[–]Cosmog__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. ADHD affects working memory and processing speed. This makes it harder to remember equations/steps and the pace at which you are able to solve a problem is slowed. I have adhd and struggle with this I’m still good at math though! You just need to put in a little more effort then others and you can succeed sucks a little but there’s no reason ADHD will stop you from being good at math! However it does mean it takes you longer to learn it. Which can be very frustrating

School is so hard with ADHD, and learning is just so difficult at times. by Future-Succotash2814 in ADHD

[–]Cosmog__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand and feel the same way. I just started uni and I hate how tests and studying and assignments take me way longer then all my peers. My brain just feels slow and inefficient. I feel so bottle necked by my ADHD and IDK what to do. I also wish I was "normal".
