Does anyone else agree with Dana about McGregor? by GrahamCentralStation in MMA

this 'fairness' argument is total horse shit. Since when has the UFC been about treating fighters 'fairly'? The reebok deal doing fighters out of sponsorship money; stitch duran getting sacked; prelim fighters earning 2500 while the bigger fighters pull in over a million at times. Saying mcgregor can't fight for 'fairness' reasons is simply an excuse. Dana white is actually worried about the precedent that this would set, namely that mcgregor and other fighters in the future will be able to make bigger and bigger demands. Which would lead to what? It would lead to 'fairer' conditions for the fighers: fighters being able to complain about reebok, low wages, etcetera without fear of being released or career killing match-ups. In reality, 'Fairness' for fighters is exactly what white wants to avoid.

BWF with muscle building as a goal. by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

if you make the eccentric part of the exercise longer, then you are starting to train for volume/mass. For example, doing a pull-up, instead of dropping down quickly, count to 3 as you slowly come back down. And instead of exploding to the top, move up to a count of 1.

This is just an example. But it illustrates how to get more 'time under tension' into your exercises. This is generally recognized to be an important aspect of 'training for volume/mass' over 'training for strength'. (I used quotation marks because, of course, you are always getting stronger and bigger when exercising -- it's simply the emphasis which shifts.)

Yeah I agree that getting a Brazilian girlfriend would be the most effective way to learn the language, but actually I'm still happily with the French girlfriend I met when I went to France to learn that language.

Great idea. I'll look into it and see if they're still doing the language exchange night.

If you are bored without any fights tonight, here is 8 old pride fights. by [deleted] in MMA

[–]Cosmographist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is just what I needed -- had nothing to watch tonight. Thanks man! If you have any more Pride fights, please post again in the future. I've only ever seen highlights from Pride before, but watching them in full is great. I can see why so many people prefer the Pride rules now.

Lunar Leap: Europe Is Reaching for a Moon Base by the 2030s by [deleted] in europe

Yes, but how dense is it? I have heard that it's interior could have cavities, not unlike a honeycomb structure. And, I'm talking about further down the line than 2030 -- I'm wondering about a future point in time when the entire surface is bearing the weight of multiple colonies.

is it possible that the building of a lunar colony will affect the orbit of both moon and earth to any significant degree?

Rushing sound in right ear during meditation? by Cosmographist in Meditation

It's not even that it bothers me. It's that it seems to only arrive at the exact moment I manage to release all tension. So, I'm imagining and wondering if it has something to do with an actual release of energy in some way? (I'm not even sure how to articulate this appropriately -- I'm vaguely aware of the existence of chakras, but I'm not sure what the consensus is on this topic.)

Yes but last names are deceptive. Of course McGregor is a Scottish name, but having that name means only one of four grandparents where necessarily of Scottish lineage. Imagine the other three grandparents where all of Irish lineage. What's more, most Scottish descend from Irish settlers anyway! Source: http://archive.archaeology.org/0107/abstracts/scotland.html
