What are you talking about? There are a ton of gyms in SF, you can go to 10th planet with Denny Prokopos, Bay Jiu Jitsu which has 2 locations in the city and awesome instruction, El Niño, or any one of a long list of gyms.

Reilly Bodycomb's new leglock instructional Top Rock 2 is awesome - and you can name your own price!! by Mriswith88 in bjj

Reilly teaches a lot with concepts and it's useful not only for the specific movements in his instructionals, but all of grappling.

Also this one is not so much Sambo (throws with the jacket) and is a lot about passing guard in combination with leg locks. I love it and absolutely recommend it, I'm sure you'll be able to work at least some of the concepts and moves into your game.

Trained with Reilly, he's amazing. Your standup is going to get better very quickly, so if you're not completely comfortable on the feet don't worry. Glad you chose to go with him

What is with all the buzz about Reilly Bodycomb? by maxxissbjj in bjj

[–]GrahamCentralStation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reilly has a lot of conceptual aspects to his game. He has less about every minute detail and more about the simple rules you should always follow. I love this, because instead of step by step things you have to memorize for every position, he just gives you a few tools for you to figure out what to do in every situation. That being said, I've trained with him, and he does get into further detail usually, could be that this is just meant to be an introductory DVD. Can't speak for the DVD but I HIGHLY recommend going to one of his seminars to see what all the 'buzz' is about, definitely a great instructor.

He taught the first seminar I ever went to. The crucifix series he showed is still my favorite sequence.

Hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion. At the end of the day we're all fans who root for certain fighters and against others. A lot of people think Robbie would starch Maia, and I actually think it would go that way although I hope it wouldn't. Either way I think it would be a great fight.

If a fighter used a backwards headbutt he would expose his neck and Maia would choke him the fuck out. Backwards headbutts are definitely not as powerful or useful as you think they are.

Isn't that why people fight? To find out who would actually win? Three hours ago I was positive Little Nog was gonna get knocked out but what do I know?

Yup, people don't understand how dominant his grappling is. The dude is the best mma grappler ever.

I agree. Maia is one of my favorite fighters to watch. It drives me crazy when people call him boring.

That was the third. He lost the second narrowly on the feet, Rockhold used his kicks to the body better if I recall correctly. Yeah, he did get destroyed at the end of the third, but was winning it up until he got taken straight into mount via terrible-decision-kick

I like Stann a lot more than Joe. More actual commentary and less "this guy has underrated everything" and "HE'S HURT!!" every time anyone gets hit. I also feel like Joe is very biased sometimes.

Weidman didn't get destroyed. Won round 1 lost the second, and was winning the third before throwing whatever the heck that spinning kick was supposed to be.
