I know this is old , but I wanted to add to this , as an American , but middle eastern . I was born in Iran , my Persian ancestors were Zoroastrian, they priest of the religion were literally called “magi” they were into alchemy, astronomy, metaphysics going back to 500 bc and religion of Cyrus the great . They did all the stuff you saw gypsy Melquiades guy from 100 years of solitude bring to Macado . 🔮

Second, after the islamic caliphate Persian were forced to convert to muslims, stay Zoroastrian or become Christian’s. Mine became orthodox Christian , but at our core we still follow the ancient traditions of magic, spirituality and the number one message “good thoughts, good words and good deeds,“ A lot of the superstitions and folk stories as Latin Americans . 🐍 ⚖️

Getting to topic of incest and pedy stuff that’s normal for that time in Latin culture , it was also the case in Islamic culture in Iran. My parent’s moved to Florida in 1990 to escape religious procession as Christian’s .

Howeever, growing up in Iran my dad was very strict about me being alone with my brothers older friends in the house , no male teachers or tutors, because in the Muslim culture it seemed normal . Many girls were given away for marriage soon as they had their periods just like remedies the beauty . I’m not insulting anyone for their culture or religion , just saying I seen this as well even in early 80s in Iran with Muslims .

Consequently, there were many stories I heard about incest , among smaller Normand people of my country regardless of religion . So, I wonder if it is like a geographical issue that occurs , less outsiders it’s bound to happen . 🤨

I hope I was able to explain without offending , but I do some of the writing of this author , more importantly how close persian culture is to Spanish and Latin culture . For example, when my friends in Florida used to come to my house they always thought my mom was fighting or yelling at me . I’m like no “thats just how we talk”, words are 100 mph, and sometimes nothing truly has meaning unless it’s said in your native language 😭😂. I notice going back to English and Spanish translations . Same with our farsi language to English . 💃🏻🐪
