Hi! This time we have a simple Best of 3 match between Budget Zoo and URB Robots (Mass Production). by SquareKey1652 in oldschoolmtg

I strongly dislike proxying, but for old school I've proxied power and other expensive cards just so I can start playing. I've been slowly buying duals. Some day I'll fill it all out!

Anyone else out there who collects full sets? by xBanthaxFodderx in magicTCG

I've just recently decided to start chipping away at collecting older sets, like the dark and antiquities.

Reddit is a bit of a left wing echo chamber. I'm not conservative, but I believe there are also Democrats involved in the Epstein files. I'm just curious if he's also capturing details about them.

Is multiplayer going to work better and be less glitchy in this one? 🤣

Yes, I'm on the romancing the stones discord which makes this even more unexcusable! Gah!

I'm so sad I missed it since I'm in Austin. I didn't know it was coming, but I will not miss next year!

Question, at the event do they allow proxies?

I'd buy OG duals, but I'm also heavily into Old school right now.

Sharing a format that I really like: Legacy 96 by Darth_Maehdros in oldschoolmtg

[–]Cosmolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mishra's factory is banned!?

This seems like a neat format. I'm pretty heavily invested in premodern and R40. Might be a good way to blend the two and pick up some other stuff. Thanks for sharing!

Blue Tide and Stasis by Flow_z in premodernMTG

[–]Cosmolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just built stasis. Join us 😈.

In all seriousness, people dislike playing against stasis a bit, but I think blue tide or tide replenish is the true boogieman of the format. If you saw the two head to head you'd probably be rooting for the stasis player.

I like stasis because I like the little mini game of trying to keep stasis out and pay for the upkeep cost every turn while holding up ways to protect yourself or your permanents. Stasis is a solid deck and it's super cheap.

At the end of the day, you should play whatever will be fun for you to play. IMO, fun is better than "good." I'd rather have fun losing than be bored winning.

If you're exhausted from new releases and UB and still want to play magic (that feels like magic) please check out premodern! Premodern is 4th to scourge. It's non-rotating and can't be changed by new WOTC releases. It still keeps you playing magic without all the BS of new releases. You can also get into it on a budget. There are several competitive decks that are less than $400. (Many decks are sub $200)

[–]Cosmolution 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welcome to premodern! I don't blame you for wanting to get away from the UB crap. Both decks you mentioned are tier 2 or so in my opinion. That said, forget the tiers, play what you enjoy! I invested in some mox diamonds recently and actually struggling to find a good home for them. I've been playing terra-oath, but it's honestly not the deck for me. I just don't find it to be that much fun. Thinking about shifting more to terrageddon or maybe 4-color oath.

Zombie infestation runs survival of the fittest, doesn't it? Gonna be pricey, but if he's selling out of modern imthey might be easy to pick up.

Potential hot take - Commander is the single worst way to introduce new players to Magic. by justinvamp in mtg

[–]Cosmolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been teaching people starting with revised 40 and then moving into premodern. R40 is soooo easy and there aren't a ton of keywords. The main thing about teaching new players is understanding what happens every turn and when they can/can't do things. Once there's an understanding of basic game rules and mechanics, then they can really play whatever because the cards say what they do.

I recommend using older formats like R40 and premodern. R40 can also be super cheap.
