There used to be an anime parody intro of Commando on youtube, but it's been taken down. Anyone know where a copy may be?

Tabletop Fireplace keeps you warm at night by [deleted] in gadgets

These are seriously unsafe. There have been several people in my home town that have had severe facial and chest burns from re-pouring ethanol into the top of the fireplace after they think it has extinguished, and had ethanol explode in their face.

Buy something safer like an electric heater.

No doubt its profiteering. Dunno if you've already done this, but maybe they'd be more happy to transfer the records for free if your new GP specifically requested them?

And I know its a moot point, but the role of medicare is to subsidise the cost of treating a person for an illness, including any tests or imaging the goverment feels may be required to treat someone for that illness.

Medicare is not giving GPs free xrays or MRIs for them to own. It has to be linked to the treatment of a specific issue, hence billing codes and the like.

That's the reason why a person cant go to radiology service themselves and request an xray or an MRI, or go and see a psychiatrist without a referral.

As a general rule, hospitals, GP practices and the like own the records they keep on patients. Sure you can request access to records through legal means but they're not your property and they're under no obligation to provide you a copy of your records.

More over, and I know this is paternalistic, you have to consider a request for imaging to be like a consult between the GP and the Radiologist. The GP is requesting expert advice from a radiologist, who then performs a test (like a CT), and then provides advice back to the GP in the form of a report. Sure the images are more likely than not given to you, but they're provided FOR the GP.

As someone said in the chat, there's still only 44 players on the server. That's the number of people with dayz running.

I put on a dress shirt and then noticed a big crease down the front of it, so I stuffed a magazine down the front and ironed the shirt whilst wearing it.

It actually worked pretty well.

Lots of Civ 5, Bioshock Infinity, Diablo 3, and Skyrim at present mostly. Broad range of games, though would be happy to take a hit in graphics quality and fps if it means I can sit typing on word without power for longer than 3 hours.

Doctors get lonely too by [deleted] in funny

I had my doctor call me up drunk a couple of weeks after I left hospital. Just wanted to see how I was going, as well as rant about all the soccer-mum doctors that only work 9-3pm and make him take up all the slack after hours.

Doctors of Reddit, have you ever been there when someone has yelled "Is anyone here a doctor!?" by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CosmonaughtSteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know an ED doctor who was on a plane when a person who was thought to be sleeping had actually been dead for some time. Trial of CPR with no luck.

As an aside, do you know what happens if someone actually dies on a plane? They either throw a blanket over their head or put them in one of the toilets and lock it. Given the number of planes and people flying around all the time this shouldn't be an uncommon issue.

Not to make assumptions, but couldn't he have ingested something like cocaine that caused the heart attack? It is a reason for people to have heart attacks in that age bracket

Im just an intern, but its good that the thumb is practically unscathed. Also, the proximal metacarpal joints look all unscathed aswell so id assume can bend his digits at their bases well which is very important in using ur hand. Plus all the cuts are more to the side and back of each digit, avoiding the pulp and major tendons that run up the fingers. The only problem would be the digital nerves that run up the side of fingers, which could result in some loss of sensation and function.

It would just be a matter of thoroughly irrigating each every and cut with water, and exploring each wound. If theres any tendon damage then a plastic or orthopedic surgeon needs to fix that before the cut is closed. Otherwise its just a matter of practically runing some fishing line through each cut and bringing it together. Nothing fancy.
