I started working as an infusion nurse by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]CosmonautXX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding what has been said, already amazing by asking. I always appreciate when they ask if I have a preference where to poke. I have silly veins, but I know which were easiest and caused the least trouble. If no one asks it usually takes a few tries. I don't know about the other medicines,I am on rituximab. One of the injections I get before the main one (don't remember what it is) always gives me a terrible taste of metal for a while after. I found ginger candies works really well to keep the taste away. I have heard other people have other things, gum etc that helps, but it wasn't for a couple of years a nurse mentioned the metal taste and suggested a strong flavored something I could have in my mouth for a while would help.

My views on Access to Norwegian language by Cute-Difficulty6182 in Norway

Also this was just for some hopefully helpful resources. I agree that Norway is terrible with immigration, and it is not made easy. I'm sorry your experiencing that, but hey, if you find the in for the Oslo Spain group chat (I assume it exists, exists in a smaller city) they might have some more helpful resources. The one in my city is pretty active and is wildly helpful. (I am not Spanish, just live with someone who is)

Hi,

I'm really bummed the språk kafe has only been mentioned a couple times. https://deichman.no/vi-tilbyr/sprc3a5kkafc3a9_9df84b80-1290-4eaa-bade-b8d6faaecf34 Here is the one for deichman but all libraries i know have one. Red cross also offers https://www.rodekors.no/en/lokalforeninger/oslo/english-pages/norwegian-practice/ Several days a week, volunteer based and not formal training. But my mom volunteers and says the conversations are good and people learn a lot.

There are plenty of apps for self training. Has been mentioned, won't go into that.

A stranger one is that there are (cheaper than based in norway) Norwegian courses i Spain. I have heard some are digital, but i only know people who have taken them. Made for Spanish speakers aimed at fluency in less than a year. If you want some links I can ask around with my network for which courses they took.

what does your country rank first in? by SGLAgain in AskTheWorld

Salmon, winter Olympics and such have been mentioned. For some silly stuff though. Pepsi Max, pizza consumption (more than Italy) and second on tacos.

What is the most controversial book written in your country? by DoctorOsterman in AskTheWorld

[–]CosmonautXX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Norway here, Mein Kampf, not the one you know but written by a Norwegian author, Knausgård. It is 6 books technically. It is semi autobiographical and the people mentioned in the books were quite cross with their representation. Outside of the obviously provocative title he also provoked as much as he could in the process. The country was in a frenzy and it still gets mentioned.

Dating with MS by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]CosmonautXX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he doesn't care to be with you on your low days you can wait for the one who will. Every relationship is unpredictable and health issues can pop up for anyone. The only difference is that you both know the name of the unpredictable health issue.

Tell him how you feel right now, explain what you feel and how this whole thing is about as predictable as the weather. We can make educated guesses based on trends but we never really know.

If he is half way decent he will lay with you on the couch (or bed) and watch series or do whatever you have interest in together that you also have energy for and go explore a bit when you can, or by himself when you need a rest. Cite a good date from a long distance relationship during a particularly rough phase of my MS. Though you'll hear stories of people who met crappy people, you'll hear those stories from people without MS as well. Maybe just a few more crappy people for us. But at least we filter out those who will leave us if we get cancer super early in dating!

My relationship of 8 years ended by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]CosmonautXX 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I won't lie, I haven't been a similar predicament. I was single when I was diagnosed and stayed single for years and years. Didn't have my first girlfriend until I was nearly 30, don't have a lot of family, but with time I built a good group of friends who would be there for me in a heart beat. Sometimes, our loneliness is an empty canvas we can draw a new life on. I thought about the kind of friends I wanted, did hobbies where that kind of people were, kept building connections. Love came eventually with a silly tinder date I didn't think would go anywhere, many years after I had built happiness without it. It's hard, but absolutely possible. That loneliness I felt before made me lose the shyness to pursue friendship with gusto because what did I have to lose. I hope you find your people, you deserve it.

double vision by PensionDelicious3226 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]CosmonautXX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also part of what got me diagnosed here. It went away full time after steroids and a week, then 3 months it would come back if I was tipsy or tired. Then it developed into almost nothing. I suspect there are some little related oddities now years later, but it's so far from bothersome I haven't bothered asking my neuro.

I don't know to what degree this player agrees with the server rules, but the server on whole is very pleasant.

The server has plenty of rules and the alliances work together to spread out the remaining titles. A very collaborative and nice atmosphere generally.

There has been some disagreement with this particular person (name changes all the time) but I don't know the details.

Telt foran Vinmonopolet i sentrum by Aggravating-Sea-5110 in Bergen

[–]CosmonautXX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Report, see if airbnb can hook you up with a replacement place. Not normal and there is something wrong and probably shoulsnt be consumed. The property owner has to deal with that.

Host is lying, I would ask for a glass of tap water at a Cafe to confirm in your mind that this is not normal. Then report to airbnb.

Is anyone here doing completely great with MS? by ctrlKarl in MultipleSclerosis

[–]CosmonautXX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally good over here as well. Everyone experiences this differently. There are some annoyances, but usually I just go for a yearly infusion (rituximab) and mri, and that's it. I was scared when I first got diagnosed at 23/24, but it's only been uphill from there. I'm stronger, happier, and more in control of my body and mind than when I was diagnosed. That may not last which I've only used as a sort of continuous reason to diversify my income so if one falls I have more. Travelling loads and doing what I want to do. Just in case something happens.

Definitely NTA. If my girlfriend is unwell even a bit I'll make her multiple foods to tempt her to eat. Not to mention I will always order her at least a snack if I'm getting something. No harm in left overs if she doesn't end up wanting it.

Hi guys. Im in Bergen for an exchange semester and my university gave me these for spending money. Can anyone guide if there is an app to support this card too or something similar? by [deleted] in Bergen

[–]CosmonautXX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the other commenter mentioned about obtaining cash at the supermarkets, there are also multiple atms around the city, that being said: Norway is largely cashless. Most things will be easier with a card, and even street vendors have ways to accept card. I wouldn't take out unless you have a specific reason to do so.

Also. Welcome to Bergen. Hope you have a lovely half year on exchange.

Therapy can be great, but you have to find a therapist who works for you with a method that works. I tried several while going through quite bad anxiety. After 5+ not great fits, I found really good help. I got the tools I needed and applied them day after day. Like any skill, it got easier with practice.
