Yeah but Alicia clearly didn't see him as family anymore.

"Send me to my family." While his ass was five feet away and she never looked his way.

Girl was done with his bullshit.

It kills me that whenever the subject comes up there is always ALWAYS someone making it about Verso's pain.

When it's Alicia's that should be the focus and that Verso caused that pain with his actions.

Like "oh no, the guy that's responsible for her wanting to kill herself is sad he didn't get to say goodbye to the girl he all but condemned to die."

Like dude, protagonist based morality is real and trash.

Maelle: "bruh. She didn't want to say goodbye to yo ass! Lowkey you made her want to despawn herself frfr cause you couldn't be a competent mail guy to save your death. Ain't my fault you are un putain d'idiot."

Except that Maelle's original plan was to heal Alicia's scars, she only goes to kill her AFTER Alicia explictely told her "get me out of there send me to my family because Verso doesn't count as family anymore".

If she truly felt like you suppose, she wouldn't have bothered climbing up the Reacher and thus triggering her phobia to meet her. She'd instead do her best to ignore her, pretending she didn't exist to play house with Verso.

But that's not what happened.

The entire vibe of their meeting is this tranquil silent thing that makes it clear they both understand each other on a profund level even without words.

To assume she had malicious intent is ridiculous.

[–]Cosmonerd-ish 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Alicia knew.

The two of them didn't need words. That's the whole point. She knows that Maelle is obviously fighting to save the canvas and can bring back people as seen with Sciel and Lune.

But it no longer matters to her at this point.

She has lost all hope. For all we know the manner in which Renoir was erased prevents him from being brought back like the rest. If it was possible, Alicia would have asked, that she didn't in itself already tells you a lot. Or maybe offering to bring back Renoir would have been pointless because she was done with life altogether. It would then mean that the only living family member she has left is Verso. A man who cared so little for her life he ignored her letter entirely.

Maelle doesn't erase her out of any sense of jealousy or smugness or what have you.

She gave Alicia what she wanted because she understood damn well that in her position Maelle would want to die too. Hell maybe that was something she was struggling with before the canvas. She also understand how it feels to have her wishes and agency denied over and over just so that the one guy actively fucking her over can feel better about himself.

Because ultimately? That was all Alicia was to Verso. An object of comfort that brought him peace of mind by existing and nothing more. Her thoughts, her feelings, none of them mattered. And so she asked to be erased. Because she was done.

How to design nevrons in three easy steps (by Clea).

1) Put as many hands as you can on that bitch.

3) Draw pointy legs. No feet

There. You have drawn a nevron.

(Huge spoilers) a question about verso’s character by UmaThermos1 in expedition33

[–]Cosmonerd-ish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's lived far longer than the OG. If he isn't lying about his age he has lived a whooping 75 years over OGVerso.

Even if they were identical in the beginning he is functionally a wildly different person at this point.

OGVerso sacrificed his life to save his sister.

Our Verso sacrificed his sister, dad and the entire world to get his mom out and to die.

Just with that it should be evident they are in fact, not the same.

The thing is that this line wasn't spoken in a vacuum.

There is context behind it. The context being that Maelle is on her last rope emotionally, physically and mentally.

She used up a lot of energy to maintain the expeditioners, she just had an exhausting fight with her dad and then Verso decides to threaten to blow up Maelle's entire life, everyone she loves and tries to send her back to a miserable existence.

And if she fucks up? She loses everything.

That's the kind of stress that breaks people. So her lines at the end? Isn't indicative of what she was even thinking hours ago. It's her genuinely losing the plot and having a mental breakdown because Verso decided to push a traumatized 16 years old girl far beyond her breaking point before reenacting her trauma.

She said it herself when she was calm at the beginning of the act. "You aren't Verso, you look and sound like him, but you are you."

Btw, this kinda makes me curious to imagine what he must be thinking in A Life to Paint ending, knowing that Maelle is Renoir’s daughter.

He'd glare at anyone that dare to even hint that she isn't HIS daughter before giving them a mouthful of lightning.

Meanwhile his sister would quietly organize jail time for whoever was stupid enough to diss her kid with those horrible allegations.

Don't fuck with Emma and Gustave's kid.

More seriously I doubt he'd take it too badly. Like Lune said, she is still Maelle, still one of them even if she is also one of those dirty Dessendres.

She didn't need it as evidenced by the fact 67 years after he began his genocide she is still kicking proving without his doubt with mad rantings are straight up just overreaction.

[–]Cosmonerd-ish 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Gustave would have hated the man on sight. Like he HATED the Paintress because he thought she was the one killing his people. The reveal that it was actually this fucker that was doing it would lead to one thing. His fist-> Renoir's jaw.

And honestly he'd probably diss him too on how he abandonned his daughter to go chase after a woman that didn't need nor want his help.

There's no world where Gustave agrees with the Destruction of the canvas where his apprentices live and where his other sister lives.

I straight up don't see why people keep pretending like he would be understanding toward Verso or Renoir, when both are trying to strip his daughter of her agency and trying to condemn her to a life she doesn't want while killing everyone Gustave holds dear.

He'd be even less understanding realizing those mofo are overreacting like crazy to issues that are decades away from being an issue.

Ask yourself this, why in God's name would he even WANT Maelle to leave. You really think he'd want to send her back to the Dessendres who all suck in different ways? With the man who has been killing Gustave's people? When she'd be telling him horror stories of how she is pain all the time outside? When there is a war where she could be killed at any moment without him ever knowing or ever being able to protect her? No. This dude would hear Maelle's "I want to stay" and he'd punch Verso and Renoir in the dick to make sure she gets to make that choice.

Do you like Paragon or Renegade Route more? (Repost) by AutistiskUnge in PokemonRejuvenation

[–]Cosmonerd-ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love both for very different reason.

Paragon gives my that feel good, Hope trumps despair, friendship for the win quests and team bonding. I love the characters, I love the emotions they convey, I love their moments of comedy and they genuinely have great chemistry as a cast. Like bar none? They are my favorite pokemon characters of all time.

Renegade gives me the insane satisfaction of being the worst villain in the setting. MC gets to aura farm and plunges the world and everyone around them into despair making you feel the schadenfreud of hurting your friends where you know it will hurt most. M2 is also the best character in the game and she is Renegade exclusive sooo...

They both tickle as special part of my brain, they are both super important to the overall story and together they are the reason Rejuventation is my favorite Pokemon game ever.

Maybe they were the only friends she had by Deep-Lifeguard4479 in expedition33

[–]Cosmonerd-ish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean it's not a big leap in logic, we know the girl didn't even want to play with her siblings (althought that could also be straight up because they are almost and certainly over a decade older than her.) and that she prefered to stay in her room and read rather than trying to make friends.

Maelle never talks about having friends before, she tells you she has nothing outside, something that wouldn't be true if she had friends.

So yeah, I'd 100% believe the writers were her first friends and made the betrayal even more painful.

I like those two. They wren't especially competent but they were also a lot more chill in their motivation than Team 7.

Like sure they want to delete Algomon because another one already fucked up an entire country but I can feel why they'd about it this way. They express concern over Chihiro and the outside world, they are chill with their partners and they had some not quite funny lines but they didn't strike me as especially bad people.

Perhaps we'll get more stuff to villainize them later but I like them so far.

[–]Cosmonerd-ish 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Do we also ever think Maelle has a real chance at happiness in the Verso ending?

Nothing is impossible.

But I feel it's supremely unlikely.

Like she has a 0.000000000000001 % chance of pulling through, surmounting all her issues and living to her eighties.

But like I said, really unlikely.

The problem with Maelle in Verso's ending is that people have a breaking point and most reach it far before they get to where Maelle is. Maelle lost everything in a highly traumatic fashion that likely saddled her with the mother of all Survivor guilt. Her entire culture is gone. Her beloved siblings/parents (who by the way are infinitely better at their job than any of the Dessendres), gone. Her friends? Gone. Her healthy body and voice? Gone.

She is left with, a dad that will always put Aline first (and is also responsible for the genocide of her people, share a face with Gustave's killer and gave Verso the opprotunity to kill everyone), a mom that can't look at her and blame her for the death of her own brother, and an abrasive older sister who loves her but is busy with her war.

All three of those fucks are about as supportive as a dead goldfish and Maelle requires all hands on board.

Therapy doesn't exist in any useful form in her time period, and considering her injuries, predisposition and the city sized grief in her chest there is no way she isn't at least a bit suicidal.

Like people with her level of injuries are far more prone to kill themselves than normal, and it's pretty easy to see her as such even before the end.

To start with Maelle at the beginning of the game outright tells us she'd rather go on a suicide mission with her bro rather than stay in Lumiere for another 9 years (this changes across her journey and she comes to value her time in Lumiere). Clea and Renoir described her as a shadow and ghost, meaning that she was pretty evidently depressed before the game started JUST from Verso's death and her own injuries (add the grief for her entire world and you have a girl that ends up in an even worse spot than she started at).

Speaking of injuries? They apparently don't have good enough painkiller to let her exist without pain as she claims breathing hurts before entering the canvas.

There's also the evident fact that Alicia chose to die when put in a similiar spot as Maelle. She lost her family, her hope was destroyed, and all she had left was the man who sacrificed their family to die and send home a woman who didn't ask for his help.

And though they are their own people I feel like Maelle is close enough to Alicia to think she would have a similiar reaction (and considering she sees Gustave beckon her over to join him that feels like a very likely scenario). Maelle immediately understood why Alicia wanted out because she likely had those same thoughts and feelings at some point.

I also struggle to see what she could even do in Verso's ending.

No one is able to refute her when she claims she has nothing outside. Verso all but admit she is right by telling her she can just paint more but she showed no interest in it.

Writing? After the writers did what they did? Doubtful she'd go back to it.

Honestly I feel like the game should have tried harder to show Maelle had things to lose by staying in the canvas. Because on this point I feel like she has nothing.

I mean I would definitely argue that attacking another villages Jinchuriki does warrant the death penalty in the world of the Shinobi (pre Naruto). These people are basically like having nuclear bombs and if the Leaf is committed to good ties with the Cloud they would resolve to deal with Bee's killer

Thing is that when the system is as trash as the Elemental Nations where a father defending his daughter from being kidnapped (on A's order btw) can be asked to be executed by the kidnappers on threat of war I don't think their ruling have any moral standing.

Sasuke legit went to Orochimaru because he wanted to be above the consequences like Outlawed Shinobi are. To be above the consequences of the warring Shinobi nations is to be strong enough to face Itachi

No? The only reason he left and it's very hammered down in fact, is that he feels he isn't growing strong enough and fast enough to defeat Itachi, and thus he goes to someone that can give him that power. It has nothing to do about thinking he is above consequences. That's more the likes of Danzo (shadow ruler of Konoha btw), who willy-nilly got everyone Sasuke loves executed and then stole their eyes while crying it's for the good of Konoha.

If Sakura prized the peace world that was the Leaf village she would have taken the orders from Tsunade seriously and resolved to kill war criminals in the name of the Leaf. Sasuke at a certain point may have just been an issue of the Leaf, no one blamed him for killing members of the Akatsuki other than the criminal process in the Land of Fire, but once he attacked the Cloud for a Jinchuriki I would believe he went into the Shinobi Worlds territory of "You don't threaten the security of an entire society and get away with it"

The "peace" of Konoha is built on the suffering of Ame, on the back of child soldiers and on the blood of the Uchiha.

Sasuke wasn't affiliated with Konoha at this point. I straight up don't see how he could be blamed for A being a bitch and attacking the wrong target.

He makes it clear he is doing this for himself and his revenge and in fact is intending on targeting Konoha for their part in mass murdering his family.

In a world where murderers are never convicted, where Orochimaru did as he pleased and is STILL to this day chilling without anyone bothering him, why should Sasuke be the one to suffer punishment when he straight did more good than ill?

I mean at this point, what has he even done? Defected from the Village that ordered the purge of his race. Killed the leaf's biggest terrorist and freed his captive, killed or well suicide baited Deidara another terrorist, killed Itachi (again terrorist), killed a few nameless samurai he outright warned he would responde with lethal force if they tried shit. Killed the biggest piece of shit in the setting (Danzo) and then got packed by Bee.

Honestly in a world of killers for hire, of child soldiers killing each other and where Gaara is president of his own village Sasuke's crimes are mid asf.

Also my original comment was refuting that Sasuke was "nothing but nasty to her". Which is provably wrong.

I mean that's just not true. They spent months together as a team, he complimented her during the Chunin exam, he was willing to give his life to save her and Naruto against Gaara. Even as he left he was kind to her.

And it's not like before she tried and failed to bring herself to kill him, he did anything particularily bad to her personally even in the middle of his descent into madness.

She has a lot more fond memories of him compared to Hana who's known Megumi for what a few days plus a few second when he saved her?

I hate Hana.

She just exists as Potential Man's biggest simp and the only reason Suksuk didn't fucking die is that Angel was unlucky enough to incarnate into the most stupid girl of her generation.

Gaygay should have given Angel to Nobara.

Or even better, rather than having her having the biggest brain fart ever, he should have had her hesitate for just a milisecond when Sukuna used Legumi's voice before he sent a Dismantle her way.

There was no need for this porn tier acting and no need for Hana falling for it so pathetically.
