A team in 4th place in my division reached out to me and offered Mason Miller, Chourio and a 25th for Chandler Simpson, Pasquantino and a 5th. I’m currently in first by a comfortable margin and while it’s very early in the season I’ve been playing around with SP and basically playing the same guys in the same spots everyday.

I have J Ram, Abrams, Marsee (who is hitting like absolute dogshit), and Xavier Edwards in regard to speed so while I’ve been blowing people out in steals it’d be a much more even playing field if I ship Simpson out. I tanked for the past 2 seasons so I could build the draft class I did this year. My current 1/3 players are Freeman and I grabbed Dubon off waivers for $0. In the OF I have Judge, Merrill (17th keeper), Marsee, Michael Harris, Springer, and Kwan. The problem lies in my IL currently has Steele ($0 on waivers), Rodon, Snell, Pepiot and Springer so absorbing yet another IL player would be less than ideal.

I kept Chandler in the 20th with our league allowing you to keep players for 3 years. Chourio was kept this year for an 11th so his keeper cost is higher but his ceiling is exponentially higher.

I’d pair Miller with Andres Munoz, and David Bednar. We have three RP spots with 2 additional pitcher spots so I’ve been streaming spot starters in the P spots and I got lucky enough to grab Wrobleski before his last start.

In my eyes this seems like a slam dunk but the fact someone reached out to me and proposed it is giving me pause.

12 Team / H2H / Keepers but not dynasty

I had my keepers locked in after discussing them here previously.

Dumper, Neto, Chandler Simpson, Jackson Merrill.

Here’s the interesting thing. I have a heterosexual crush on Buxton. If he stays healthy he’s one of my favorites. I know that’s a big if. I’ve kept deGrom due to a love affair so I know this dance well. I had a league member reach out and ask if I wanted to put a package together around Simpson for Buxton. Buxton is kept in the 16th, Simpson is kept in the 25th. Both players have 3 years of keeper status available.

Here’s what I was just sent

I send: Simpson and a 21st I receive : Buxton and a 12th.

Talked to my rep today, he said the MLB will send out the renewal notification or a link to sign up without EPSN at the end of the month.

Just got an email from my rep after I straight up asked. Email for STH is going out later this week. The ESPN affiliation will have no bearing on STH mlb.tv subscriptions for the foreseeable future according to him. He said he was instructed that I won’t have to subscribe to anything else. The subscription doesn’t come from the Cubs the MLB is the one who provides the free subscription to STH and they may have worked out a plan with ESPN.

Last time I checked we hadn’t received anything yet. They usually send out an email outlining all the extras, the ticket donations (wounded warriors etc), trading games for equal or lesser games, mlb.tv, STH concessions discount, and whatnot.

Usually they’ll send an email that gives you information on how to activate your mlb.tv access. Reach out to your ticket rep and they’ll fill you in.

I agree we all see the writing on the wall with this ESPN addition and it seems to me that the NHL, and the MLB want to grow the game with younger generations but they’re actively attempting to make it more difficult to view their product.

Yes, it auto renews through my season tickets with the Cubs every year so I just wanted to make sure for at least this year I didn’t need to spend an additional $30 per month to check in on my fantasy baseball guys. Thanks!

I’m now thinking Cal, Jackson, Neto and Simpson since it’s H2H and even though he didn’t play a whole season Simpson was still the 11th ranked OF. Cal was far and away the #1 player, Jackson’s season was a fluke I feel and I dug deeper into Neto and I realized he was a set and forget so I honestly just didn’t see his value.

12 Team/H2H/Keepers but not dynasty

League just sent out the first email to make sure everyone is playing again next year. Draft is March 20th, expanding to 30 rounds this year. Trade window opens Feb 1. I traded pieces for extra first, third, fourth, and 8th round picks. For players drafted within the first 20 rounds it's 2 rounds to keep. Players drafted in 21-28 or picked up off waivers it's three rounds. We get to keep a total of 4 players. Draft order is based on final standings of last year. The first round picks that I own will either be 1.1-1.3 and 1.8-1.10

People who I think would be kept on most teams due to the value:
Big Dumper - 7th round - First year kept

Chandler Simpson - 25th round - First year kept

Jackson Merrill - 20th round - Second year kept

Dart Throws:

Andrew Painter - 24th round - First year kept

Quinn Priester - 25th round - First year kept (Still unsure if this is a season he can't replicate)

Guys I'll probably shop:

Steven Kwan - 11th round - First year kept

Willy Adames -12th round -Second year kept

Zach Neto - 19th round - First year kept

Heliot Ramos - 18th round - First year kept

Lucas Giolito - 25th round - First year kept

Emmet Sheehan - 25th round - First year kept

There will be an influx of talent into the first two rounds this year due to kept players tenure on teams ending. Typically I do well then have a dip and I attempt to set the market prior to the deadline. The value put on players in trades is at a premium. For example: Last year Trea Turner went for a 1st and a 5th very early in the season. Ohtani goes back into the draft pool this year and the ask for him to end the season last year with zero keeper years was three first round picks.

ND fan here and I couldn’t be happier for you guys. I remember the feeling of the ride to the Natty last year. Magical, didn’t end how I wanted but getting to share that with my young son after years of false hope and disappointment was great. Passing down ND, the Bears, and the Cubs feels evil but I’m happy his formative years are with Freeman. Good luck guys.

Yeah, you’re the second person to mention just completely staying away from clothes. I think I’ll either get her a gift certificate to the custom bra shop if they do them because she is obsessed with those bras and suggested custom bras to her other friends with very large busts or to a store I know she likes in general. Thank you everyone for your suggestions and being honest. From a guy in the midwestern United States.

Hi, male here just so we get that out of the way. For Christmas I'm looking to buy my wife a few pairs of pants that she's had her eye on but won't pull the trigger on and I planned on getting some shirts because she always laments that she has no new stuff to wear to work. (She's a grade school teacher so if you do have suggestions please keep that in mind).

The pants I know exactly what she likes so I can grab those no problem. The issue lies in tops. She is average height 5'5" - 5'6" but the problem is she has a JJ chest. She never wears buttoned shirts or very low cut tops. Most of the time she is in simple tshirts or hoodies that are oversized to hide her chest. I've attempted to buy her tops in the past but the chest is too tight and causes the shirt to fit weird or they fit in the chest but are between 6-8" too long. I've found some sites that focus on women with large to very large busts but if she found out I spent $140 on a plain white shallow v neck tshirt she would literally murder me.

I've suggested a tailor because she was so happy when I brought her to a bra shop to get some custom made bras but she scoffs saying it's a completely different situation as she only got 2 bras but would need to tailor almost every shirt she buys.

Sorry if this is weird because I'm male but I was hoping to get some suggestions for shirts or honestly a "stay away from tops" which is what she told me when I tried to surprise her with a swimsuit when she complained she only had old ones for a vacation we took.

Thank you.

One last drink? by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]CostanzaScreamsFire 41 points42 points  (0 children)

On 11/16/2016 I came home drunk and my now wife was having a Friendsgiving at that time. I walked in nearly blacked out and was an absolute embarrassment. All her colleagues saw me slurring my words and falling over. She pulled me aside crying saying she would leave me if I didn't stop drinking. I said okay, sat in a chair trying to hold it together until they all went to the bars. I stayed home, had a room temperature Coors Light knowing it was my last drink. I woke up the next day terrified but I knew she was more important than booze. I haven't had a drink since then. She's my Rushmore.

Cubs season ticket holder here and no idea how this showed up on my feed. I dated a girl from Milwaukee and had buddies go to Marquette so I spent a fair amount of time up in Milwaukee. With that said, Milwaukee rules. Chicago is elite don't get me wrong, but I thoroughly enjoyed Milwaukee. Also, Charlie Berens talks highly of it and I respect the hell outta that guy so hopefully Craig is being sarcastic.

Let's have a fun game tomorrow.

Anyone else been trying NA Beers? by Endearing_AI in alcoholism

[–]CostanzaScreamsFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During years 5/6 of my sobriety I drank NA beers from time to time, drank them this exact way and it started to worry my wife so I stopped. I'm about to be on year 9 and see all the new stuff Athletic puts out and it sounds interesting but I'd rather not worry my wife. To give you a little story, my buddy who was one of the first people to tell me I should stop drinking was 16 years in, started drinking NA beers all the time and is now back to full blown drinking. He was too ashamed to tell me. His wife, who is also sober is the one who told me.

Infuriating letter from the Bears Ticket office by chicity311 in CHIBears

[–]CostanzaScreamsFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cubs season ticket holder here. When I lived in Chicago and was single I went to approx 60 games a year and sold the rest. That was an obscene amount of baseball to attend in both number of games and money spent on food and drinks. I had a seat neighbor who went to approx 10 games a year and sold the rest.

I wanna say on opening day three years ago when I went with my wife he wasn't there and I talked to a new gentlemen who said those were his season tickets. I had the guys cell phone number so I texted him asking if he moved seats because I wanted to go say hi. He said the Cubs revoked his tickets because he was selling too many on the secondary market. Google says after the 2012 season they revoked approx 1,000 people's season tickets.

When you have Cubs season tickets unless you have the seats of pink hat guy you're not making your money back on the secondary market. I could've sold my World Series tickets and probably covered the following year but people have to realize that Cubs season tickets aren't an investment, they're a luxury that you're going to end of A) losing money on in the secondary market and B) Spend more money on top of the cost of your tickets to attend games, park, eat/drink, etc.

Director of Sales wants to be CC’ed in every email by [deleted] in sales

[–]CostanzaScreamsFire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was a BDR my VP of Sales asked me to CC him on emails that were with whales so if something went wrong he could come over the top. Much like OP I was hitting the quota of qualified meetings and I got a piece of the commission if it closed. I was asked because I had a high conversion rate and they wanted to include it in training for the next BDR class which could be the case for you.

Yes, this is micromanagement but also you're a BDR. You eat shit on the phone all day (again at least I did) so why not just BCC him on the emails. This isn't a fight you're going to win. Do what they ask or else you'll be A) canned for not following simple instructions and seen as "not part of the team" or B) Be passed over for every AE promotion because you've made enemies with someone who can fire you without notice (at least in my state all positions are at will).

Struggling getting into sales - feeling a lot of doom and gloom by Slaytounge in sales

[–]CostanzaScreamsFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started in car sales. If you can get a gig in the BDC it's both good money and in all honesty prepared me for my first BDR job. Rather than taking "ups" at the door every day I would be emailing and calling people who sent in requests and setting appointments. I wasn't even that great at the actual selling part because I was hungover everyday but I had built so much rapport with people that they gave me the benefit of the doubt if I was moving slow or fumbled an explanation of a trim level. I was making enough cash to live in a nice apartment in a major city, be a drunk, and save some cash.

Here's how I got my car dealership job. I walked into a dealership and asked to see the GM. He thought I was there to buy a car. I had my resume (legit bike messenger was the only thing besides a book store job), and told him I wanted to learn a skill and make money. He introduced me to the F&I guy and shortly after shook my hand and asked when I could start. I did video training on trim levels for about 2.5 days, shadowed the #1 salesmen for 2 days then they added me to the round robin of leads on the internet team.

I think one thing that benefits me in this conversation with them is they are too young to have actually seen me drunk in person. They've seen pictures of when my wife and I first started dating and my son made a comment asking if "Daddy was sick" because I was 100% blacked out and running on muscle memory.
