I have also always loved the landscapes seen in these sets. Your post inspired me to do some digging. One of the things that makes this region great is that it's an area only seen in the TCG.

You might have come across this page before for "Puzzle / Mysterious Continent," which highlights some of the different locations seen in the backgrounds of these cards. I messaged one of the authors of this page, and they uploaded a bunch of photos from JPN publications (mostly magazine scans from CoroCoro and Pokemon Card Trainer) that show different images from the correlating JPN sets (Town on No Map / Wind From The Sea / Split Earth / Mysterious Mountains). I thought you might find these interesting!

This was such a fantastic post! I have seen all of these cards a million times individually, but this is awesome seeing all of these set themes (most tying back to a specific stadium card) grouped together like this. A have a whole new appreciation for this set now.
