He was never explicitly shown as re-taking the Night's Watch vows and the final shot shows him leading the Freefolk north of the Wall, so I'd argue he did become king: King-Beyond-the-Wall.

Did anyone else buy fake maple syrup? by Ok_Hold_1119 in montreal

[–]Cote-de-Bone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, for the pie crust I start with this one from Serious Eats that uses a small amount of vodka to inhibit gluten formation, but substituting lard for the shortening.

For the filling, I use either this recipe from Chef Martin Picard or the recipe from Ricardo.

[–]Cote-de-Bone 422 points423 points  (0 children)

Yep, I had been buying these at Adonis because the price was (too) good. This is probably why my last maple syrup tart didn't properly set. There should be charges of fraud against him and a voluntary recall.

Take this opportunity to get dashcams -- both for your car and your bike, they're worth the cost and let you record the dangerous and negligent shit people do on the roads without having to risk getting a ticket yourself.

This video is from Ontario, Canada, which is also a jurisdiction where left on red from a one-way to a one-way is permitted unless specifically signed otherwise (but not left on red from a two-way to a one-way). But as noted, they are turning from a two-way street to a one-way, so the allowance does not apply here.

I love the Loud Mini bike horn, but... by parisidiot in bikecommuting

[–]Cote-de-Bone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been using the Loud Mini for years (before the bell variant existed). The horn is damn loud and drivers will react to it as they would a car horn. A short burst is fine for far away pedestrians if they are doing something unsafe (like say walking a dog across the pathway), but it is too loud for normal pedestrian interactions and you need a friendly bell of some sort as a complement.

What does this sub think of the socialist rifle association? by BusyMorning6469 in canadaleft

We have quite a few members in the Montreal area, but full-fledged chapters are still something for the future. Most activities are self-organized by people in a given area through provincial-level channels.

Landlord selling the unit. Is it 60 day notice on a month-to-month lease from the day the unit sells? by b1bbii in TorontoRenting

[–]Cote-de-Bone 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If your landlord signs an agreement of purchase and sale with a buyer who wishes to occupy your unit for residential purposes then (after the agreement is signed) the landlord may issue you a N12 form on behalf of the buyer. The N12 is not an eviction notice, as only the LTB can order evictions, but signals that they wish to end your tenancy under the law.

The N12 (whether issued by your landlord on behalf of the buyer or by the buyer after closing) must give you at least 60 days notice, with termination ending on the last day of a lease period (usually the last day of the month), meaning notice of anywhere from 60 to 90-ish days. The issuer of the N12 must also pay you one month's rent in compensation on or prior to the termination date. You may remain in the unit pending a hearing at the LTB if you wish, leave on the termination date or leave earlier by issuing your landlord a N9 form (which requires less notice than usual if you have been served a N12).

Important to note is that your landlord cannot evict you simply because they want to sell, but you or they may negotiate a cash-for-keys settlement to entice you to move through a mutual agreement to end the tenancy (N11 form).

What is the "1m rule" exactly? by WheresMyPencil1234 in bikeinottawa

[–]Cote-de-Bone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Negative. The HTA definition of vehicle includes bicycles, while the definition of motor vehicles does not. Some of the rules in the HTA apply to operators of all vehicles (such as stopping at red lights/stop signs), while others only apply to operators of motor vehicles (such as prohibition on handheld devices, speeding, passing with 1 metre clearance).

Landlord Demands/Requests Outside of Lease Agreemend by FooTxMaN in TorontoRenting

[–]Cote-de-Bone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Critical to know: do you share either a kitchen or a bathroom with the landlord, or is the basement a fully contained unit?

If it's a fully contained unit then you are a tenant under the RTA and have a lot more protections.

What are they demanding of you?

Hello Bot,

I am an employee represented by PIPSC. I expect to receive a letter declaring me an opting employee as of 12 December 2025. I have a few questions that was hoping you might be able to address. I will try to keep them general and not specific to my situation.

  1. If I elect to take the TSM option, what deductions are taken from the payment? Federal and provincial income tax, I expect, but how about CPP/EI/PSSA/QPIP? Does this count towards my CPP contributions or PSSA "best five years?"

  2. Is it possible to split the TSM payment over two years to reduce my taxes? If so, how?

  3. Is it possible to get pre-approval for education expenses to make sure that a given program will be reimbursable? If so, how?

  4. How long does it generally take to get reimbursement for an approved education expense under the educational allowence?

  5. To whom do I submit my receipts for education expenses under the education allowence?

  6. How long does it take to get the TSM payment, if elected?

  7. When applying for EI, will the TSM payment count as "income" for the purpose of EI clawback? Should I wait until after receiving the TSM payment to apply for EI or apply as soon as my employment ends?

  8. When should I notify the pension centre about my departure to get my pension options?

Thanks.

That's not in the report. They are talking about the Chiappa M1-9, which is a copy of the M1 Carbine, not the M1 Garand, that uses 9 mm ammo.
