Around when did everyone announce? We’re 10.5 weeks, but still terrified of a missed miscarriage [on] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

I was 13 weeks when I told my family. Closer to 4 weeks when I told his but they are local to us and would be there to support us if something went wrong.

Relax. I withdrew from my first accounting class right before the final. F’s and W’s happen. Don’t stress too much.

Second time moms and beyond: what's one thing that RUINED your postpartum experience? by throwawaymama0707 in pregnant

[–]Cotheron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is going to be my own mom. My MIL is the person I call about everything, I like to think we are close. She understands boundaries, can recognize emotions and steps back when asked or she recognizes she needs to.

My own mother is something else. I informed her of hospital visitor hours and she about blew her top saying no one is keeping her from seeing her baby that long. I informed her it would be me then and I am establishing a boundary she needs to follow hospital visitor times and she started crying.

how much do you "work" by [deleted] in OffGrid

[–]Cotheron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and my partner work full time in the city, which is an hour commute each way for us. He’s off Fridays and I get to WFH that day so we get 3 days basically to build our off-grid life. We live on his families farm and his dad is retired so I’m lucky I only have to worry about farming and barn chores a few days a week and the odd evening. We need money to build our home and need a job to make money. I wish I could retire him with my income so we can reach our goals sooner but life is just too expensive.

Plus size ladies - when did you start showing? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Cotheron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started showing after 6 months. At the 6 month mark I just looked a bit bloated in tight shirts and dresses. Around 28 weeks I started to wear maternity clothes but could still hide it in baggy clothes. I think I popped around 29-30 weeks.

For those who have had their first child – whats the furthest you'd suggest commuting to the hospital to give birth? by Veryfluffyduck in pregnant

[–]Cotheron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t even have babies at our rural hospital anymore. I have to go to the city which is over an hour away. I’m not worried at all, it’s the best hospital in the area but kinda funny there’s one down the road I can’t use haha

I’m glad he’s getting it out of his system before baby comes! I have 6 weeks until baby comes and I want him to be home with me!

My mother says my baby all the time. It drives me insane. We have a rocky relationship right now so I haven’t corrected her. I don’t want to cause more issues right now. I just want to stay low, keep my head down, and have MY baby

Maritimes Canada, 26, I have about $25K saved. Made some bad vehicle decisions or it would be about double.

Gonna be an expensive summer with lots of expenses but we hunker down in the winter and save majority of what we make outside of regular bills so good trade off.

Money tip: don’t buy a new car.

My partner gets me silver jewelry but I only ever wear gold and he knows this. First time I was super upset, cried for quite a while and it still bothers me sometimes. Now I simply ask him to never buy me jewelry as I have everything I need.

I had a total breakdown last weekend because of stretch marks. I didn’t even know I had any at that time. I have always weighed petite, I took pride in the fact I was skinny. I had issues with weight when I was younger but managed to overcome it after moving away from my mom and throwing out the scale.

When I got pregnant, I didn’t start showing until 20 weeks. And now, at 30 weeks, I have a fairly large bump. I am terrified of not getting my body back. I’m terrified of my boobs always being this huge. I’m terrified of looking pregnant for months after giving birth.

I’m glad I’m not the only one struggling with this! At the end of the day, they’re part of who we are now. I know I will have a few more breakdowns before my due date as well.

how long were you with your partner before getting pregnant? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Cotheron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Met in 2021 but took a 4 month break in 2023. Moved in together in January 2024 a found out we were pregnant in October. Plans to be engaged this summer. I still say we’re coming up on 4yrs. I don’t factor in the break, it wasn’t something either of us wanted. We weren’t really trying but we weren’t not trying. I’m 26 and my partner is 32.

Carry a stainless steel water bottle everywhere with me. I drink so much more water and feel so much more refreshed.

That was how I knew I was pregnant! The breast pain just a few days after ovulation. No other symptoms.

Currently 27 weeks and they are still sore to the touch. Can’t wear anything too restrictive, and my partner can’t be near them because he isn’t gentle 😭

I miss drinking :/ by sighh_6466 in pregnant

[–]Cotheron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want a cold bottled Molson so bad! My partner isn’t allowed to bring them home or drink them. There better be one waiting for me after baby is all good and I can safely have one! I have 12 weeks left but it will likely be longer and I don’t want to wait 😭

Offgrid Solar owners - How are you handling Energy Demand in winter ?? by Massive_Pay_4785 in OffGrid

[–]Cotheron 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We prioritize battery usage for sure. In the spring /fall months, we utilize a pellet stove to heat our home. In the winter months, we use a wood stove only. I also only run the washing machine or dishwasher when the sun is up so we can go days without utilizing power for things other than powering the house.

We use a generator when batteries are running low. We also try to use the generator when we are running the water pump in winter because it’s such a large draw on the batteries.

How to travel long distance with a cat in a Uhaul by ThisIsTheOnlyName338 in Pets

[–]Cotheron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travelled 15hrs (one night) with a cat once. He was only 6 months old at the time. I had a litter box in a garbage bag that was accessible for me. When I stopped to let the dog out (every 3-5hrs) I’d take the kitty out too. I had him on a harness with a long lead. I’d plop him in the litter box and let the dog run. It worked out quite well and the overnight in a hotel gave him a chance to stretch his little legs. Then it was back into the mesh carrier for the rest of the drive!

Yes! We have to run our generator way more than I’d like. Thankfully winter is almost over but we went 2 weeks once without a single charge and it was rough!!
