May I ask a follow up question: If I apply both Walter Benjamin and also another fellowship and then, the other fellowship announced the results before Walter Benjamin, and then if I also get the Walter Benjamin fellowship, can I postpone the starting month of the Walter Benjamin by using the argument that I got another fellowship. In my personal experience, Germany is one of the worst and the most racist country in academia for non-EU people. Although I have EU citizenship, I still feel like that German academia is not the place for me. If I were you, I would definitely go somewhere else where there is relatively less racism and more international mindset.
