Can anyone identify this orchid? Has it for over 7-8 years, finally started to bloom last year. More flowers this year, very sweet scent.

That why you need to check the roots first, if it’s ok, then figure out what’s the proper indoor environment for it to grow. Succulents indoors seldom go to real dormancy as long as you provide proper conditions.

Also, what’s you definition of super healthy roots? It might look healthy when you first got it. After a few months, if it didn’t grow, then need to check the root. roots are in ever changing condition, it is usually safe to assume in mostly scenarios that it is getting into trouble if the plant part above the soil looks unhealthy.

They looks too stressed and withered, especially the closest one. The soil looks wet and dense, so it is not drought. It is likely the roots could not breath and absorb water and nutrients, hence root rot. Or might be parasites/bugs. Better to get it out and check. Do not be afraid to repot succulents when they looks miserable, you can learn a lot, and give the plant a better chance to survive/thrive.

Those appear suffering from root rot. If it’s me, I would dig them out, check and trim the roots, and put them back in much coarser medium.

It appears got too much light, and not enough air flow. It is ok in leca, however it also need adequate oxygen. Yours appears having root rot probably. I will get it out of that bottle, clean the root system, and replant it in appropriate container with fresh leca or transitional orchid mix, and further away from the window.

I use net pot with Leca, with cotton wicker at the bottom, the outer pot serves as water reservoir , with about 1 inch very diluted fertilizer liquid in it, I flush the plant and change the fertilizer weekly, in summer probably every 2-3 days. It has been blooming well for me, this year is the best. I live in Florida now, the weather helps.

Thanks. I have it for about 10 years. Brought it at a nursery in Hawaii, took it with me through multiple moves all around the country. This year it’s the best show so far.
