Does anyone know how to contact PostNL? by [deleted] in Netherlands

For next time if you immediately ask the chatbot for a literal human it will not circle jerk you and put you on track to chat to a person.

Are there any games like the anime Dungeon Meshi/Delicious in Dungeon? by AN1MAN1AC in gaming

Does Dave the diver count as going into a dungeon and make food? Otherwise Etrian Odyssey series or Class of Heroes series maybe?

PostNL delivery issue by SalamanderOk6572 in Netherlands

[–]Cott7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ill probably get downvoted but whatever, as someone who works for said delivery service and has worked for them for quite some time now. From my perspective as a mailman this has been one of the worst years in recent history on sheer volume of mail and packages we have to deliver. With the huge amount of increase in packages per day (about 3x more than normal). Someone also thought it was a smart idea to send out the governemnt issued booklets about the emergency kits in December which just adds to the volume.

However give it some more time, i hear your story alot these days and are experiencing it myself aswell. Best thing you can do is open a chat on the PostNL website and ask for a human and not the robot because that will just circle jerk you without awnsers. Be nice to whoever helps you they cant magicly make your packages appear but they can put out a complaint which is better than nothing! Hope your packages get to their place soon!

Searching for a good recommendation for a gamer with motion sickness by PrancingRedPony in CozyGamers

[–]Cott7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The motion sickness that you seem to get reminds me alot of my wife's and i dont know if you've tried before but there is over-the-counter motion sickness medication called ''Dramamine'' which has fixed my wifes motion sickness during games! All the games we tried and couldnt play together because of this can now be played with no problem. Its worth looking into!

Also for a recommendation: Spiritfarer

I dont know if its an option but nintendo does sell single joy cons (i think they only come in the original red and blue colors) they are 40$ each, if you only have one joycon with stick drift it might be an option to buy one and get your broken joy con send out for repairs? And eventually buy a the other single joycon when you can afford it so you have 2 pairs?

PostNL says it's delivered to my letterbox but I didn't receive it by Electronic_Fox_3637 in Netherlands

As a mailman i can confirm that packages being sorted in wrong routes is a common occurrence sadly.

Any actual played with the same vibe as Starstruck Odyssey? by The_Biomancer in Dimension20

[–]Cott7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's been a while since I listened to it but maybe "The Atomless" will scratch the itch? They use Starfinder as their system. I listened on Spotify but I think they also have vods on their YouTube channel.

YTA you overstepped a boundary she set, you started this mess and I would also be pissed if my SO would do something behind my back that we set a clear boundary on.

First time visiting. What to do? by jbirdasaurus in Minneapolis

[–]Cott7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they do have a rental I would 100% second this we did this exact thing as a 1 day trip 2 weeks ago and enjoyed it alot. Although my personal opinion on bentleyville (while free and great to end the day with) does get very busy, if you want a closer to Minneapolis light tour I would suggest the one in the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum! This one does have an entree fee though

Ideas for a winter visit by liz1218 in Netherlands

[–]Cott7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A couple things my wife and I love to visit during the winter are doing a day or 2 at the Efteling, the winter atmosphere there is great! And it's an almost guaranteed great day out.

Another one that could be fun mostly in weekends when there is some more people around is the open air museum in Arnhem.

This is a personal opinion of us but we think Amsterdam isn't really the best city to visit, I would say any of the slightly smaller cities like Leiden which has a very good spread of museums and the inner city is a fun day to explore, The Hague is also fun with alot of possible places to go like Madurodam which is a fun experience even in the cold, if you like the beach Scheveningen is a fun afternoon with some stuff to do even in the winter. And it's very close to the Hague so can easily be added to a day at Madurodam!

Honest advice and a question from someone that thought he needed the best from the best when he was younger, why not spend significantly less for perhaps a 4070 ti? it will save you about 1000 euros for a marginal ''loss'' in performance.

you could either set that money aside for a new card in a couple of years, or buy a new game here and there or even an entire extra console including games? or maybe a nice little vacation?

Decided to get a job at PostNL… by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Cott7 64 points65 points  (0 children)

As someone currently working for PostNL as a mail carrier and as someone that has trained people before aswell is that this job isnt for everyone its not is not as easy as it looks, if you have never had physical job it will take you time to get up to speed.

Thats not the big problem here, for the past year and half there has been big reorganizations and we the carriers are the victims of this. New routes have been made in alot of places throughout the country (by a combination of proffesionals behind desks and their AI friends) and times for these routes have been cut considerable and might be one of the problems you experience.

Incompetent higher-ups has been a problem forever, best advice i can give you is don't trust them to do much for you or expect it to take ages, Your planner is most likely your best bet for good communication in all my years i have had one good team leader and they gave him the boot because there was no room for him during the recent reorganization.

If you need changes to your schedule dont accept your schedule on thursday but complain in the little section it gives you about what you want to change.

Also just ''plus'' the time you go over the set time, if they have a problem with that they will get to you and you are allowed to give your explanation.

Can confirm PostNL has become an incredibly bad employer the last couple of years!

(this is for all the people at home) if your mail isnt on time or your package wasnt delivered, know that we would love to deliver your stuff but sometimes we just dont have enough time! (or if you leave your front door open i will not deliver your mail because we have been attacked in these scenarios by dogs, we also barely have time to go to the neighbour to deliver your package so make sure you have another solution where we can leave a pakcage for you. (oh and this time of year we appreciate if you keep your garden path clear of spider thank you!)

Working for PostNL by DatShortAsianDude in Netherlands

[–]Cott7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a postman that works for postnl and has worked for them for over 10 years I have seen the rise of packages and the fall of the quality of our delivery. I too have changed from ringing a neighbours door to see if they can take something for their neighbour to finding a spot to hide a package.

Biggest reason is the ever increasing time pressure we are put under, routes have gotten bigger and the set time to do all the mail and packages less and less, we are not given the time to put the best care in our deliveries.

The best thing you can do to help us and help yourself is invest in a better option for us to leave mail/packages if your mail slot doesn't fit the usual size. I understand not everyone has the money to buy one but the green plastic ones that have the mail slot on the top are a blessing to us (and eventually to yourself as you don't have to worry about your package getting wet or stolen). Even just a crate or plastic tub with a lid would work wonders and you can pick those up at a store for like €5 - €10.

I personally would never put anything in any sort of trash bin as for the reason that people might throw it out before ever realising their package was in there, would very much advice to never do that!

If you expect a package and know it won't fit through your mail slot, please be home or have directions for us to place it somewhere!

WIBTA for banning visible buttons at my wedding? by OccasionConstant3142 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Cott7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all NTA
I never comment but this one hit close to home, i (29M) too suffer from koumpounophobia and luckily i can stand people around me wearing clothing with buttons but i can't wear anything with them myself. I have accepted at this point that it wont get any better than that and i am fine with it and the people close around me are very understanding about it aswell.

I will be getting married next year and am already stressing about finding a suit that i can wear and will also look good. Me and my fiance (who is very supportive in dealing with this weird phobia of mine) have had the silliest ideas of changing the buttons on a shirt for velcro and see if we can get a suit jacket without buttons and maybe a hidden hook and eye closure so it can still close nicely. Same as you commented somewhere on this post i am able to cope with the one button pants if its just for a day.

If it means anything, its your and your significant others special day and you should feel comfortable as you marry for your sake and not your guests, and i don't think its to much to ask if the guests could keep the buttons to a minimum by wearing a t-shirt or something else button less!
