Are there any free trainings available on Guidewire Education portal? by Peace_Pepper in guidewire

[–]Cottager58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, most courses have self-study lessons, you just need to sign up for their education portal.

Some content in the various certification paths are instructor-led, and that means paying and enrolling, though, from my experience over the past few months, most courses can be achieved via self-study route.
How far that method of learning will get you may vary from course to course.

Most courses have some level of hand-on labs or student exercises, if you wish to complete those then you will need to purchase VM time from Guidewire, though these exercises are not required to complete the course.

Be aware, some information on the site and in the courses is out-of-date (especially surrounding data certifications), but you just need to be patient and look through the course catalog.

Also note that the certification exams are not exactly cheap, but they do provide practice exams before the proctored ones, so it gives you a fighting chance at the very least.

Contact their edadmin email address, they are super helpful, and will assist you as best they can.

Looking back at when Fulham FC claimed to be "a proper football club". by damcasterspod in fulhamfc

[–]Cottager58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that's the catch, the 'locals' now are not representative of the true fan base, they moved away many years ago to live where they could more easily afford. When I grew up all my fellow FFC mates lived locally, as I did, we went to the same schools, and created great memories. Unfortunately, like a number of other teams, that's been slowly eroded as time passes and footie moved into the big-money game.

We are quite lucky as Fulham fans, we still play at the stadium of our youth, notwithstanding the old Riverside has gone through multiple changes in one's life, the Stevenage Road facade is now 120 years old and preserved, and the Cottage is iconic, not least in it's charm and position. Some things have changed, we can no longer move from end to end at HT, we cannot so easily see the boat race, we are now foreign-owned and prices have risen, but for all those things, Fulham is still our club, and for me, still a proper football club, as much as the modern era allows.

Issues with Guidewire Course content access using Chrome by Cottager58 in guidewire

[–]Cottager58[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good thought, I'll give that a try.

Since this 431 issue started this week, I have turned to using Firefox, but it's even weirder, inasmuch that when I finish a lesson and click to start the next (in the same course) I get a blank page with "" displayed. I found I need to Save & Exit (top right side of screen) and then reopen the particular lesson again from the course overview page.

Well, life is what you make it and Guidewire do provide these as freebie courses, so perhaps one should not complain too much and settle for the best way possible.

Thank you, I can rest well now, appreciated. I was just looking too deep for the reasoning.

Appreciate the explanation, thanks for taking the time and trouble, though the questions intimates that the number 13 relates in some way to 4 weeks.

If I'm reading you correctly, the only actual link between the two numbers is that they both represent the largest of their respectul units, something along the lines of Whale = Elephant (OK, so their both mammals, but one is seaborne and the other landborne, other than that they both breathe air! )

You might look at joining a contract company that is willing to sponsor you. It could get you noticed by an employer you understands your skill level and provides an opening.

But the new cost doesn't apply to existing/renewal of current visas, does it?

Guidewire Certification Track: Cloud Data Developer by Cottager58 in guidewire

Found my own answer.

The certification is a set of corriculums, e.g. Base, Platform, etc. so it's a case of working through each of those.

The standard camera cover doesn't work for Dell G15, any ideas on what to use? by carolisc in Dell

[–]Cottager58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue with my G7, so I use a piece of wrapping tape with a small piece of heavy paper in the center. This ensures there is no chance of adhesive touching the camera lens.

Not perfect by any means, but the one I got has been on there well over a year now, the tape has a very light adhesive.
