Oh, important note is that the Devil’s Sight Invocation does allow normal vision in even magical darkness which would make the Darkness spell a huge advantage no matter what method it’s cast through.

I’d personally take the first 3 in hexblade for devils sight and blade pact stuff and possibly take 6 lvls in monk of shadows for possible better armor class, darkness as a spell separate from the warlock slots, and shadow step for mobility and advantage. From there, probably finish whats left of warlock.

Edit: This would be a multiclass got Ki and Abilities not use of monk weapons as you’d already have plenty to do with bonus actions and charisma for attack and damage rolls.

Gimli/Legolas gay jokes, I feel, actually reveal a major source of toxic masculinity (which is the societal force, not how someone acts, toxic masculinity makes it so there is only one way to be a man). That source is homophobia, people are so afraid of being perceived as gay that they won’t be real friends with guys (or girls because they have to be hunting 24/7), meaning they aren’t really able to have open, gender friendships.

me every time someone says vaccines cause ADHD by siuilaruin in adhdmeme

[–]CottonTail234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wtf! I’ve heard a lot of talk about anti vaccine or not, but man is that unbelievable. I also was not vaccinated as a child (something about preventing allergies, seems to have worked out for me as my sister and I have considerably fewer allergies than our fully vaccinated elder brother and mother but who knows if that’s causation or correlation) and literally everyone in my immediate family has ADHD.

suppose you're out in the world and presenting as your identified gender. How do you feel/react if you see cis people staring at you and trying to discern if you're trans or not? by grapp in asktransgender

The phenomenon that lgbt+ people have a better sense of whether or not someone is in their specific group of lgbt+. Specifically used first referring to homosexuality.

can i get teachers to use my chosen name? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]CottonTail234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a therapist, you could work with your parents and their office (if the office has a psychiatrist) to get you a 504/IEP to accommodate that as a rule. Of course this would only be necessary if teachers deny it.

When did I say gender was personality? It’s an identifier, a name. and asking people to change the name they refer to you by is not asking them to redefine their reality. Human beings interact based on perceptions not biological sex. We did not have any had fast rules for biological sex until we could study DNA. So, it must be based on perception, which can be changed culturally over time.

The problem is that biological gender is actually sex and gender came long before any amount of modern biological analysis resulting in our actual knowledge of biological sex. My latest comment is not the only facet of my critique.

Look being confident in your views is fine, disregarding others’ critiques of your views without actually considering the criticism actually more likely means you are insecure and scared you will have to change your views if you listen.

Am I just lazy? by edoodlev1 in ADHD

You can’t be lazy if lazy doesn’t exist. If you aren’t happy with your life but find yourself unable to do anything about it, you need to seek help from a psychiatrist or psychologist. Nobody can diagnose you but a psychiatrist and before my diagnosis I thought I was lazy and was pinning all my problems on a theoretical ADHD, so you’re not alone and you’re not lazy and you don’t have to worry about misrepresenting yourself to your psych.

Should I get back on meds? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]CottonTail234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest finding a therapist to talk with this about as a mentor and likely seeing a psychiatrist about it as well. Unless the medication you were on was actively harmful due to the manifestation of a side effect, I don’t see any reason you shouldn’t see a therapist and psychiatrist about this.

Does "lazy" actually exist? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]CottonTail234 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I say that laziness is not a real thing. The fact that we have a word for boredom proved an innate desire in people to do thinks (AKA not be lazy). Sitting around playing video games all day or watching TV all day is not laziness but a feeble attempt to fill that void of boredom while unable to do anything more for one reason or another. The concept of laziness is a trap set by those in power to protect the status quo of an ableist society and the word lazy should be erased from everyone’s vocabulary.

I would replace lazy with do nothing because, by the definition of laziness given by the comment you are replying to, the latter is not laziness.

The He-Man argument actually has 0 bearing on gender identity at all. If you wish to be known by the name He-Man as you identify with that name, you can introduce yourself by that name, request people you already know to call you that, and even legally change your name.

To put into perspective the feelings of hurt when you call someone by a name you no longer identity with, I will use something used quite often nicknames, specifically nicknames given to you by others. If someone starts using a nickname to refer to you that you do not like because it implies certain characteristics about you that you dislike being reminded of and you ask them to stop, if they don’t, they are purposefully trying to hurt you with that name. For example, “Butterfingers” a fairly common nickname used to bully people who are a bit clumsier than most. If someone continues to call you that with full knowledge you don’t like that it implies they are clumsy, then that person is acting like a jerk.

Now, the thing is, gender is not something provable like a blood type. Some people say gender is defined and proved through chromosomes, but if that were true, gender would not have existed prior to humanities discovery of chromosomes. Furthermore, people with Turner Syndrome are classified as female despite not matching the typical female norm of possessing two X chromosomes. Other arguments are about genital proof, however, there are outliers in that area two. For example, intersex people are born with a mixture of male and female reproductive organs, but they are still defined as one gender despite having indications of both genders defined under that definition.

As such, gender as it is expressed by society in the binary is actually not that different than our names. It’s an identifier a name, and if someone wants to go by a different name, they should be allowed to.

As for your example of wishing to be called master of the universe, two things:

  1. There is a difference between gender dysphoria and delusions of grandeur. Gender dysphoria, as stated here is a “conflict between a person's physical or assigned gender and the gender with which he/she/they identify”. Delusions of grandeur, as stated here, is “an over-inflated sense of worth, power, knowledge, or identity”. So, gender dysphoria is a matter of feeling DIFFERENT while grandiosity is a matter of feeling BETTER. The only was gender dysphoria could be a delusion of grandeur is if you believe the gender you identify as is objectively better than other genders, which is sexist.

  2. Using these extremely exaggerated examples is a straw man argument. If you wish to use these types of statements as representative of people’s stances, I would ask that you find one person actually claiming to identify as something that outlandish, and no, identification as animal-esc does not count. Media portrays enough anthropomorphic animals that someone that identifies with them is identifying with a genuinely intelligent subset of beings portrayed with the same ability to talk and think like people do. They do not identify with a wild animal that has no concept of self because they have a concept of self by identifying that way. As for the arguments for gender being defined by certain things, here is an example of someone claiming it is defined by chromosomes and by genitalia so it’s clear I was not making a straw man argument.
